PARKS & RECREATION - OUTDOOR RECREATION National Walking the Dog Day Date: February 22 Time: 9:00 – 11:00AM Location: Lone Star Lakes Park Age: 18+ (Children welcome with accompanying adult) Cost: Free Grab your leash and furry companion and venture to Lone Star Lakes in celebration of National Walking the Dog Day. Lone Star Lakes Park consists of 1000+ acres of land and includes 6 miles of hiking trails. Your dog will love exploring the sights, scents, and sounds found on the trails within this park.

Full Moon Hike Date: January 29, February 26, March 26 Time: 7:30 – 8:30 PM Location: Lone Star Lakes Park Age: 18+ (Children welcome with accompanying adult) Cost: $5 Enjoy this hike illuminated by the light of the full moon. We’ll also highlight the nocturnal wildlife we encounter along the way on our nighttime adventure. Dress warmly; flashlights will be provided.

Archery Clinic Dates: April 5, 7, 9 Time: 9:00 – 11:00 AM; 1:00 – 3:00PM Location: Sleepy Hole Park Cost: $65 Ages: 7 – 11 (9am – 11am); 12 – 17 (1pm – 3pm) Would you like to learn archery? Now’s your chance! Take your mind off school and zone in on a different type of target. Bows, arrows, and arm guards will be provided. Participants should wear trail and weather appropriate clothing (including long pants and closedtoes shoes). Bring a water bottle.

Outdoor Recess

Great Backyard Bird Count Date: February 13 Time: 7:00 – 9:00AM Location: Driver Age: 18+ (Children welcome with accompanying adult) Cost: Free Join birdwatchers all around the world to count and report details of birds in the area in which they live. Suffolk parks and recreation will be participating in this event and counting birds found at the site of the former Driver Naval Radio Transmitting Facility. Bring your own binoculars and spotting scopes if you own a pair.

Dates: January 5, 12, 19, 26 Ages: 4 – 6; January 7, 14, 21, 28 Ages: 7 - 11 Time: 9:00 – 11:00 AM Location: Sleepy Hole Park Cost: $5 per class In this outdoor club, (geared towards homeschoolers), we will explore different wildlife topics and build your confidence in outdoor spaces. Participants should wear trail and weather appropriate clothing (including long pants and closed-toe shoes) for exploring the trails. Bring a water bottle. Classes will be held rain or shine!
