This class is an ongoing program offering a fun, safe and inexpensive introduction to traditional Tangsoodo karate for very young children. Taught by instructor Olivia Edwards, it is part of the karate program offered through Shoreline Parks that includes Karate for Kids and Adult Karate, coordinated by senior instructor Eric Madis, fifth degree black belt. Class activities include stretching and exercising, basic karate techniques and fun activities. Students from this program may then progress to Karate for Kids when they are ready. Rank promotions are available for students who attend and train regularly.

Camp Shoreline @ Spartan Recreation Center

Camp Shoreline at Spartan Recreation Center is a fun, high energy place. Each weekly themed camp is packed with a variety of large and small group activities including games, sports, crafts and lots of outdoor playtime. Our professional camp staff will get to know your child helping them stay active, create memories and make friends through the summer months.

Campers should wear tennis shoes, bring a water bottle, sunscreen and sack lunch daily. Kids 7-12 go swimming every day so bring a swimsuit and towel.

Outdoor Camp (OC) is our newest camp for 1012 year olds. Camp takes place at two locations during the summer, Hamlin Park and Richmond Beach Saltwater Park. Outdoor Camp incorporates environmental exploration into new and traditional camp activities. Tiny-hawk introduces soccer in a fun, safe environment with lots of encouragement.

Campers must be between three and four years of age and toilet trained in order to participate. Children will learn balance, body movement, hand/eye coordination and skill development through a series of sport-specific games. Campers receive a T-shirt and merit award. In this unique camp, kids learn ‘How to Play The Game’. Camp was designed by former professional player and NCAA, D-I Head Coach Mark Linden. Run by professional instructors who play the game and are expertly trained in how to teach the game to kids. Give your child an opportunity to have fun PLAYING baseball at camp this summer! The Sandlot Games Camp focuses the majority of camp time on PLAYING GAMES - The kids learn through their Play!

Insanity Workout

Barre

This new and innovative fitness class is a great combination of ballet, yoga, Pilates and core conditioning. It is a high energy and low impact workout that tones and stretches your muscles while burning fat and increasing your flexibility. We will utilize hand held weights, stretch bands and of course the ballet barre.

Insanity is a revolutionary cardio-based total body conditioning program based on the principles of interval training. Insanity pushes the participant to new training heights, resulting in more calories burned, faster results and a more efficient metabolism.

Lake Dorothy is a pristine mountain lake in the alpine wilderness near Skykomish. We’ll hike 2 miles from the trailhead to the lake and enjoy our lunch while relaxing by (and in) the water. This is a hearty and challenging 4 mile (round trip) hike with 800 ft. of elevation gain, steep hills and a very rewarding destination!

Spend your evening on a four hour dinner cruise sailing around Lake Washington.

ADULT TRIPS & HIKES Nisqually Vista Hike ♥ ♥ Fort Flagler Located on Mount Rainier the Nisqually Hospital Tour Vista is a relatively easy short hike that offers grand views of the glacier, wildflower meadows and mountain that surrounds it. After the hike we’ll eat lunch at a nearby lodge and continue on another short hike to Myrtle Falls. Trailhead is at 5,400ft. elevation.

Diablo Lake Boat Tour

The deep turquoise waters of Diablo Lake and towering mountain peaks make it one of the most beautiful sites in Washington State. This all inclusive trip starts with a locally sourced organic lunch at the Learning Center followed with a short walking tour of the lakes history and environment. After, we’ll board the Cascadian for a boat tour exploring the lake, its islands, waterfalls and the three dams part of the Skagit Hydroelectric Project. Filled with stories of early settlers and other historical accounts this is a very special trip that will likely fill fast. Lunch, tour, transportation and trip leader all included.

If you want to swim but don’t need to win the race or “churn” the water, this is the best relaxing lap swim for you. Recommended for seniors, but open to all adult lap swimmers.

Sensational Water Aerobics!

Shallow water aerobics and deep water exercise are low to no impact. Great for the joints.

Absolutely no swimming skills required, but comfort in the water is recommended. The water environment works your cardiovascular system as hard as other high impact classes.

Gentle Water Exercise This program is to help those who need to slowly get back into exercise due to illness, surgery or medical treatment.

This exercise is in the shallow end of the pool and no swimming ability is needed.

Shoreline’s Arthritis Movement Exercise Our popular program is designed for people who are limited by impaired joint motion and/or strength. Program goals include improving or maintaining joint flexibility, maintaining muscle strength or reducing muscle weakness, improving balance and coordination.

Special Olympics Softball & T-Ball Team

The City of Shoreline is sponsoring the ShoreLions Special Olympics softball team again this season. Practices for Softball and the Development Skills tests begin in June at Hamlin Field. The King County Special Olympics regional softball tournament is scheduled to take place in July. Pre-registration is required for all participants and all participants much provide a current Special Olympics ‘medical form.’

REFUNDS:

Refund Due to City Cancellation: Classes, camps, programs, trips or workshops/special events cancelled by the City of Shoreline will result in a 100% Refund of the program fee paid.

Cancellation Due to Weather: Refunds will not be issued for reasons of inclement weather, unless it results in the closure of the City facility hosting the event during the time of session or rental.

REFUND REQUEST DEADLINES:

Class fee first day: Program fees may be refunded in full for any reason after the first day of class, as long as the refund is requested prior to the second day of class. Participant must contact the registration desk and make a formal written request. Aquatics programs requests must be made at the pool registration desk. All other recreation program requests must be made at the Spartan Recreation Center registration desk.

Class fee second day: After the second day of class, but prior to the third, requested refunds will be pro-rated per the registration fee paid and the total number of classes.

Class fee third day: Refunds will not be issued after the third day of class, unless an exception is granted. Requests for an exception to this policy must be submitted in writing prior to the fourth class and must be approved by the PRCS Director. The City has sole discretion to decide whether or not to grant this exception.

Single trips/workshops/special events: Refunds may be issued if requested at least three (3) calendar days prior to (not including) the event date.

Point of sale admissions: Refund requests must be made in writing and submitted to the registration desk prior to leaving the facility on the day of use. All requests are at the discretion of the PRCS Director.

Day camp cancellation: Weekly camp sessions require a cancellation request at least three (3) calendar days prior to (not including) the first day of camp for a full refund. No refunds will be issued after three days prior to the first day of camp.

Facility rental cancellation: Rentals cancelled by the Renter seven (7) or more calendar days before the event will be refunded in full. Rentals cancelled by the Renter less than seven (7) days, but before 24 hours prior to the date/time of reservation, will be issued a 50% refund of the fees already collected or $50, whichever is less. Reservations cancelled 24 hours or less prior to the rental will not receive a refund. Any Damage Deposit received associated with this rental will be 100% refunded.

Wait-list refunds: For those that are on a class waitlist that attend after the start date, requests for refund shall be treated as if the first day of attendance is the first day of class.

Pro-rated refunds: Class fee refunds will not be pro-rated when registering after the start date except for those entering from the wait-list.

Refund of Damage Deposits: The City will inspect the permitted area in the Rental Use Permit after usage to determine if any damage occurred. If damage occurred, the City will assess a cost to fix the damage and retain that amount from the Damage Deposit. Any remainder of the Damage Deposit will be refunded. Should no damage occur, 100% of Damage Deposit will be refunded No Pro-Rated Membership Refunds: All memberships are for the specified amount of time from purchase date. Pro-rated refunds are not permitted for unused portion of purchased time.

Exemptions: Requested exemptions from this policy may be submitted in writing to the Recreation Superintendent and require approval by the PRCS Director.
