Indoor Playground Halloween Get ready for the cutest show in town! Children 1 – 4 years of age are invited to attend the Halloween Costume Carnival at Indoor Playground. Special games and hands-on art projects will be available in addition to the regular session of fun activities for young ones. Come dressed in costume!

Slides, teeter-totters, climbing toys, mini basketball hoops and multi-sized balls are available to allow your children plenty of room to run and play in a large gymnasium. You are responsible for supervising your own children.

This is a great activity for rainy and cold mornings and a fun way to meet other families.

Parents and caregivers can have a direct hand in a preschooler’s development through our Multi-Sport program. They learn important introductory physical skills associated with our eight core sports; hockey, soccer, tennis, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf and football. This program also helps adults understand proven teaching techniques that can be applied outside of Sportball classes.

Classes focus on refining, rehearsing and repeating skills and playing games in a fun, creative, non-competitive environment.

Preschool Gymnastics Our child-sized gymnastics equipment, games and more are all used to help teach gymnastics basics to preschoolers. Emphasis is placed on having fun, learning and following directions.

YOUTH – DANCE Pre-Ballet

Clogging

Does your child dream of being a ballet dancer? Join this light-hearted and fun approach to dance. We will learn basic ballet steps and dance to classical and popular music.

Wear leotards, tights and pink leather ballet shoes (girls) and black leather ballet shoes (boys).

Join us in this fun and high energy dance class. Clogging is a traditional American dance developed in the Appalachian area and is now popular worldwide. This dance form is a rhythmic, grounded, hoe-down type of tap dance done to traditional and modern music. It is also great exercise for all ages! Shoes and taps options will be discussed at the first class.

Little Tigers Karate

This popular and ongoing class offers a safe, fun and often challenging introduction to traditional Tangsoodo karate. Th is is a martial art that, when practiced regularly, is effective for self-defense, fitness and the development of concentration, confidence and other life skills. Rank promotions are available to those who train regularly. Those meeting age and rank requirements may continue their training in the Adult Karate program on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

This class is an ongoing program offering a fun, safe and inexpensive introduction to traditional Tangsoodo karate for very young children. Taught by instructor Olivia Edwards, it is part of the karate program offered through Shoreline Parks that includes Karate for Kids and Adult Karate, coordinated by senior instructor Eric Madis, fifth degree black belt. Morning, evening and Saturday, Shoreline swim lessons are offered year round for all ages from infants to adults. Small class sizes provide more personalized, high quality instruction.

Swim lessons are grouped by age and ability within each age group.

How to Register:

Only at the Shoreline Pool do your children get 6 free swims during the swim session. The more practice each participant gets, the more they become comfortable and confident with the skills required for their level. To receive or to reload your practice pass, just ask when you register for swim lessons.

Sensational Water Aerobics!

Public Recreation Swim

Shallow water aerobics and deep water exercise are low to no impact. Great for the joints. Absolutely no swimming skills required, but comfort in the water is recommended. The water environment works your cardiovascular system as hard as other high impact classes.

Enjoy the pool, the diving board, mats, noodles, inner tubes and the slide with friends and family. Open to all ages.

Gentle Lap Swim If you want to swim but don’t need to win the race or “churn” the water, this is the best relaxing lap swim for you. Recommended for seniors, but open to all adult lap swimmers.

Lap Swim Everyone needs a good cardiovascular workout whether it’s fast, medium or slow.

Swim for fun, swim for health. Get every muscle moving.

*Family Swims A great way to spend quality time with your family. Especially fun for families with little ones who are sure to sleep after active play in the water! Fun in the water promotes confidence to swim. Adult must be present in water with children at all times.

Shoreline’s Arthritis Aquatics Exercise Our popular program is designed for people who are limited by impaired joint motion and/or strength. Program goals include improving or maintaining joint flexibility, maintaining muscle strength or reducing muscle weakness, improving balance and coordination.

Gentle Water Exercise

Same fun as a Public Recreation Swim at a fraction of the cost! Our way of saying “Th ank you” for swimming at the Shoreline Pool every Friday night. Priced for the whole family.

This program is to help those who need to slowly get back into exercise due to illness, surgery or medical treatment. This exercise is in the shallow end of the pool and no swimming ability is needed.

SPECIALIZED RECREATION Recreation is for Everyone If you are interested in any class but hesitate to register because of a developmental or physical limitation, please call the Spartan Recreation Center at (206) 801-2600 for help in getting started.

Reasonable accommodations will need a minimum of three weeks notice in advance of the program start date. Participants needing individual assistance to participate in programs, including toileting, transferring, eating, dressing or behavior intervention, must bring an attendant/companion to programs.

Adult Community Choices Fall 2015

Special Olympics Basketball

Adult Community Choices is a great opportunity to express yourself through cooking, therapeutic recreation, music and art. The daily schedule will also include field trips to exciting places. This program emphasizes community exploration and building relationships. The staff will make everyone feel welcome. Please call (206) 801-2600 for more information. So You Think You Can Dance?

Adaptive Dance for Adults with Developmental Disabilities! We are partnering with the Dance First Company in order to be able to offer an 10 week-long dance class. Participants will enjoy new skills in dance movement with an emphasis on the aesthetic appearance of modern technique in a safe and comfortable environment. Matter of Balance

September 16 - November 4 2015 Wednesdays, 12:30-2:30pm - Funding is provided by the Shoreline Fire Department.

A class where seniors can learn to manage their concern about falls, get practical tips that can reduce fear and increase activity levels. Learn how to maintain balance and keep safe from fall dangers.

Paramount School Park Shelter 15300 8th Avenue N.E. The Paramount School Park shelter is adjacent to the children’s play area, paved walking trail, ball fields and the Connie King Skate Park.

RBSP Upper Shelter – A large, plaza-like shelter with a panoramic view of Puget Sound and children’s play equipment nearby. The Upper Richmond Beach Shelter has restrooms and water access.

Hamlin Park Shelter 16006 15th Avenue N.E. This newer shelter is perfect for parties, large gatherings and is located close to restrooms, children’s play area and numerous tree-lined walking trails.
