4.2.6.2 General Comments Engineering’s use of GIS is primarily as a reference for field inspections and the design of new utility projects. One of their primary concerns is access to most current and accurate data available to the City. Access from the field would be beneficial. The spatial accuracy of data generally seems good but should be updated whenever more accurate data becomes available. Duplicate data entry between GIS, Munis, Lucity, and Excel spreadsheets is problematic – reducing confidence in the data when there are discrepancies. Integration would improve workflow efficiencies. Staff would like to be able to track other agencies collocating utilities in the ROWs or hanging devices on City poles. Interagency coordination on CIP projects would be largely beneficial, especially surrounding a “dig once” policy.

4.2.6.3 Recommendations ❑ Ensure access to core spatial datasets and web mapping applications. ❑ Work with other departments to locate or develop datasets for desired features (e.g. easements, as-builts, elevations, trees, permits). ❑ Leverage ArcGIS Online and web applications to replace requirement for desktop software. ❑ Enhance street and utility asset with data on maintenance responsibility. ❑ Implement the AG4LG Map Change Request app to assist data review, especially for missing attributes. ❑ Implement components of the AG4LG Capital Project Planning Solution: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/46920fd28c014f08977a6fc64ce1804f ❑ Deploy the various AG4LG field inventory collection apps (Signs, Signals, Street
