HIGHLIGHTS NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SENIOR CENTERS In July 2019, the Southcentral/Southeast Focal Point (SCSEFP) centers were re-accredited by the National Institute of Senior Centers and the National Council on Aging .

TOTAL WELLNESS MONTH Senior wellness is paramount to the City of Miramar. The Southcentral/Southeast Focal Point Senior Center provides exercise modules, nutrition education and water aerobics to keep our seniors healthy. The Southcentral/Southeast Focal Point Senior Center held its’s 2nd annual Total Wellness month February 2019 to raise awareness for Heart Month.
SENIOR HOLIDAY WALK 2019 The 4th Annual Senior Holiday Walk was held at Miramar’s Town Center, with 120 seniors completing a total of 1,700 miles. This evidenced based program was created by the Arthritis Foundation, designed to keep seniors active and living independently. TAI CHI FOR MEMORY 2019 The Southcentral/Southeast Focal Point Senior Center became one of the first senior centers in Florida to conduct “Tai Chi for Memory”. SALT SENIOR SPRING PICNIC 2019 Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) held their annual picnic at Miramar Regional Park with city officials and over 150 seniors in attendance. Pictured : Dr. Valarie Fields member of (SCSEFP) singing the national anthem .
SENIORS GOT TALENT 2019 The Southcentral/Southeast Focal Point Senior Center held its first annual ‘Seniors Got Talent’ show. Crowd favorite Charlie Hudson won 1st prize with the entire crowd singing along.

ANNUAL VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION LUNCHEON 2019 Over 50 senior volunteers were honored for their amazing service at Southcentral/Southeast Focal Point’s Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. The hardworking seniors received certificates of accomplishment and a goodie bag.
