INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATES
REVIVELYH
Lynchburg’s natural areas need active care. Through ReviveLYH, you can play a hands-on role in restoring native habitats and protecting our parks from invasive species. We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, skill levels, and interests. Whether you’re looking to get your hands dirty, expand your plant ID skills, or just spend time outdoors doing meaningful work, there’s a place for you here. BLACKWATER CREEK PARK
Lynchburg Dog Park
• New play equipment, watering stations, benches, and updated plumbing have been installed.
• Scheduled to open after fencing is completed.
Beach Volleyball Courts
• Four regulation-size courts are being added between the Dog Park and Blackwater Creek.
• Project is currently out to bid and will take place over the winter.
Former Dog Park Area
• Being transformed into a relaxing space with hammock fixtures, fire pits, porch swings, a picnic pavilion, and more.
• Commemorative bricks remain and will continue to be maintained.
• Work expected to finish by January 2026.
Park Enhancements
• Additional landscaping with a wetland meadow, trees, shade structures, and new signage.
• Park will stay well-lit and open from dawn to 10:00pm.
Trail Improvements
• Creekside Trail repairs are ongoing and will connect to the refurbished extension near the former College Lake, continuing to Sandusky Park and Perrymont Park.
• A new connection from the Upper Parking Lot to the Small Dog Park area is also being constructed. This will allow small dogs to access the park without walking by the Large Dog Area, if desired.
COLLEGE PARK
• Stormwater management improvements are currently underway.
• Park design plans are being reviewed by the City Technical Review Committee for approval.
• Once stormwater work is completed next summer, park construction will begin, starting with a new half-court basketball court near Richmond Street and Breckenridge Street.

In the event of a medical emergency, I authorize representatives of Lynchburg Parks and Recreation to contact EMS at 911, if I or my child is incapacitated.
