MOSAIC STEPPING STONES (14+ years)
Create colorful and unique mosaic stepping stones for the garden in the 2-day workshop. This class is great for beginners and continuing students alike. We will cover design, approach, materials selection, tool use and mosaic setting and grouting. This class focuses on use of color, pattern, and repetition, while teaching students how to use tile cutting tools to get special cuts, creating different looks with various setting styles. All materials are included, and participants will receive directions to the studio following their enrollment. Students must bring their own lunch.

LANDSCAPE AND MEMORY: PAINTING EN PLEIN AIR (16+ years)
In this 2-day workshop we will focus on painting quick studies outdoors on location, and we will emphasize priorities like: clear notation, sensitivity to color and tone, editing, abstraction, surface, light, authenticity of response, willingness to fail, and most of all, tuning in to the deep beauty of what we are looking at, by slowing down and painting. Our location will be along the Russian River near Healdsburg, with views of the river, the mountains, and the surrounding hills and vineyards. This class is open to all levels but is best for intermediate to advanced painters, ie: those with at least a few years of experience and practice. No materials are provided – (suggested materials list available on request) – all media welcome, instructor will paint in oils.

ECO GARDEN ART (3-5 years)
Budding artists will design and create whimsical and funky twig bird houses, painted totems, found-object mobiles and creative wire and wood creatures for the garden.

MULTIPLES: PRINTMAKING, STAMPING AND STENCILING (6-9 years)
Explore the joy of printmaking using a variety of methods from simple to more complex. Try printing with found objects, monoprinting and gelli printing. Create your own stamps and stencils or use those we have on hand to create expressive mixed media projects.

CERAMICS: WHEEL AND HAND BUILDING (10-15 years)
Learn how to throw pottery on the wheel to form functional pieces, such as cups, bowls and plates. Explore hand building clay using simple tools using common techniques of pinch pottery, coil building, and slab building.

ART LAB FOR LITTLES (3-5 years)
Young artists learn hands-on techniques in drawing, painting and sculpture using a variety of fine art mediums and recycled materials as they take inspiration from the season and nature around them.
