On Your Mark, Get Set… Construction on New Aquatic Center is Ready to GO!

Crews will dive into their work this summer to construct the City’s new aquatic center at the Elk Grove Civic Center. The facility will feature a 50-meter Olympic-size pool with 1 and 3 meter springboards, a six-lane fitness and instructional pool, and a recreational pool featuring water slides, a lazy river, and a zero-depth entry. Scheduled for completion in summer 2018, the center will offer competitive aquatics, instruction, water fitness and family recreation. Another feature within steps of the water is the Commons, an outdoor activity and event space. These elements will be joined by a Community Center, featuring a Senior Center and Veterans Hall, scheduled to open in 2019. For project details and updates, visit www.elkgrovecity.org.

Planning for Future Play Starts Today Attend the Plan for Play Community Workshop Thursday, May 25 6:30 p.m. Wackford Complex, 9014 Bruceville Road Your opinion is vital in creating Elk Grove’s Plan for Play, a comprehensive master plan that will determine future direction for the Cosumnes CSD Parks and Recreation Department. The CSD is seeking input from Elk Grove’s demographically diverse population through focus groups, an online survey, and community workshops. Everyone is invited to participate! Honk the horn on a bus, get behind the wheel of a semi-truck, dig in the sand, and learn about all of the vehicles involved in maintaining a city at this FREE event geared to kids 2-6 years old.
