About 25% of what we throw away is organic material such as food and food-soiled paper that could be put to better use as compost.
Waste haulers serving Eden Prairie are required by state statute to offer and charge for curbside organics recycling services to most households, regardless of participation. Request an organics recycling cart from your hauler and use the services you’re paying for.
Visit the City’s website to find a detailed list of items that can be placed in an organics bin.

Salt used on roads and walkways pollutes local lakes, streams and wetlands, which negatively affects water quality. You can help protect Eden Prairie’s water resources by decreasing your salt usage.
Start by shoveling well and if you need salt, scatter it widely. If the temperature is below 15 degrees, salt will not work so use sand instead. Finally, collect any undissolved salt and store it in an air-tight container for reuse.
