CITY IS A TOP WORKPLACE

For the 12th year in a row, the City of Eden Prairie has been recognized among “The Minnesota Star Tribune” Top Workplaces.

City Manager Rick Getschow credits the City’s success to our core values — collaboration, innovation, integrity, performance and relationships — that foster a highperforming and engaged team.

“These values guide everything we do,” he said, “and I’m incredibly proud of how our employees embody them in their daily work. Their dedication and professionalism make Eden Prairie a truly special place.”

EPPD Adds 2nd Social Worker

In May, the Police Department welcomed a second social worker to better connect residents with support services.

Caitlin Hurley joins Molly Mitley as the newest member of the team. Together, they bring decades of experience supporting individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

Social workers play a vital role in building relationships and guiding residents with the services they need. In 2024 alone, 467 clients were assisted by the program in Eden Prairie. Both positions are jointly funded by the City and Hennepin County.

City Recognized for Sustainability Efforts

Eden Prairie was recently honored with two awards highlighting the City’s commitment to sustainability.

In June, the City received Minnesota’s Best of Buildings, Benchmarks and Beyond award for its leadership in sustainable building and energyefficiency across City facilities.

In July, the City was honored by Minnesota GreenStep Cities for reaching the program’s highest level of achievement for the ninth time. This recognition reflects ongoing efforts to cut costs, reduce energy use, conserve resources and support climate action and civic innovation.

Rooftop Solar at Fire Station #1

new solar array on the Fire Station #1 roof will help the City cut long-term energy costs and decrease electricitybased greenhouse gas emissions. Eden Prairie is one of 18 local governments across the state to receive grants from the State of Minnesota’s Solar on Public Buildings program, which helped fund this project.

Later this fall, a second SPB grant-funded solar array will be installed on the Eden Prairie Liquor rooftop at 8018 Den Road.

Yard Waste Disposal Tips

When it rains, the water washes over streets before it drains into storm sewers and eventually into local lakes and rivers. To avoid polluting waterways, it’s important to keep streets clean and dispose of yard waste properly.

Here are some options:

•Most trash haulers will pick up yard waste from your curb, call your hauler to see if they offer this service

•Compost yard waste in a bin in your backyard and use the compost as fertilizer

•Take yard waste to Eden Prairie’s Yard Waste Site at 9811 Flying Cloud Drive, open through Sunday, Nov. 23

Eden Prairie residents may also bring hazardous waste to the Environmental Center in Chaska (116 Peavey Circle).
