DEL ESPACIO AL HUMO, OMAR DE FRÍAS RENUNCIA DE LA NASA Omar de Frias, propietario de Fratello Cigars, ha dimitido de la NASA después de más de una década. “Puse una meta agresiva para mí en IPCPR. He superado esa meta. Dado el enorme apoyo que recibí y la creciente demanda de Fratello, este fue el momento de darle a la industria de los puros más de 50 horas a la semana, las cuales estaba usando en nuestro programa espacial “, dijo de Frías. Y continua, “A pesar de que es un tiempo tumultuoso para nuestra industria, tengo confianza en el poder de permanencia de mi marca y las relaciones que he trabajado tan duro con nuestros minoristas y consumidores para construirlas”.

FROM SPACE TO SMOKE, OMAR DE FRIAS RESIGNS FROM NASA

Omar de Frias, owner of Fratello Cigars, has resigned from NASA after more than a decade. “I set an aggressive goal for myself at IPCPR. I exceeded that goal. Given the enormous support I received and increasing demand for Fratello, this was the time to give the cigar industry the extra 50 Hours a week I was spending on our nations space program,” said de Frias.

He continued, addressing

the looming FDA regulations, “Although it is a tumultuous time for our industry, I have confidence in the staying power of my brand and the relationships I have worked so hard to build with our retailers and consumers.”

His journey started 5 years ago in 2011. After 2 years of research and planning, Omar launched Fratello Cigars at the 2013 IPCPR

Show. The launch was an enormous success and would set the tone for the years to come. Fratello Cigars can now be found in over 350 premium tobacconist in the US and in 7 countries. “While I will miss NASA and I am extremely grateful for the experience and knowledge I acquired during my time there, I am eager to have the ability to focus all of my time and energies on Fratello.” stated de Frias.

Su viaje comenzó hace 5 años, en 2011. Después de 2 años de investigación y planificación, Omar lanzó Fratello Cigarros en el IPCPR 2013 Show. El lanzamiento fue un éxito enorme y daría el tono para los próximos años. Los cigarros Fratello ahora se pueden encontrar en más de 350 tiendas de cigarros premium en los Estados Unidos y en 7 países. “Aunque voy a extrañar a la NASA y estoy muy agradecido por la experiencia y el conocimiento que adquirí durante mi tiempo allí, estoy ansioso por tener la capacidad de enfocar todo mi tiempo y energías en Fratello”, dijo de Frías.

SAGA SHORT TALES: TALES OF HIGH PRIMING The new Saga Short Tales Serie: Tales of High Priming is carefully handmade by De Los Reyes Cigars, in Santiago, Dominican Republic, created by Nirka Reyes Estrella, cigar factory’s president, who worked hand by hand with her team, to launch this new cigar in mid-2016.

“The definition of a SAGA is a long story of heroic achievement. The Saga Brand with its Blend No7 and Golden Age carry different sizes within their own blends. We thought an extension line should be made that would allow us to tell the little tales of the Saga. Each cigar of the Short Tales of the Saga will have a different name, a different blend and a different size. The Tales of the High Primings is the Volume 1 of the Short Tales. This line will allow us to display the many faces of our art without overcrowding the precious (shelf) real estate of our retailers-partners”, said Nirka Reyes.

The cigars come in hollowed-out books that are used as display boxes. Connoisseurs can buy Saga Short Tales in USA, and in special markets in Europe, Asia and the Caribbean.

La nueva Serie de Cigarros Saga Short Tales: Tales of High Priming, son hechos cuidadosamente a mano por De Los Reyes Cigars, en la ciudad de Santiago, República Dominicana, creados por Nirka Reyes Estrella, presidente de la tabacalera, quien trabajó mano a mano con su equipo, para lanzar este nuevo cigarro a mediados del 2016.

“La definición de una SAGA es una larga historia de heroicos logros. La Marca Saga con su Blend No 7 y el Golden Age conllevan diferentes tamaños dentro de sus propias mezclas. Pensamos que hacer una línea de extensión nos permitiría ‘Contar los Pequeños Cuentos de la Saga’. Cada cigarro de la Saga Short Tales tendrá un nombre diferente, una mezcla diferente y un tamaño diferente. Los cuentos de los Cortes Altos (High Priming) es el volumen 1 de Short Tales. Esta línea nos permitirá mostrar las múltiples facetas de nuestro arte sin congestionar los valiosos estantes de nuestros socios minoristas”, nos comenta Nirka Reyes.

Los cigarros vienen en cajas de 10 que tienen forma de libros ahuecados, que se utilizan como cajas de exhibición.

Está a la venta en EE.UU. así como en los mercados de Europa, Asia y el Caribe.

Sara Tió, Litto Gómez, Antonio Gómez, Hendrick Kelner, Lucién Echevarría, Carlos Castillo, Hostos Fernández, Nirka Reyes y Guillermo León La Asociación de Productores de Cigarros de República Dominicana (Procigar), después de cosechar episodios de éxito con las “Noches Dominicanas”, esparciendo su innovadora dinámica de cultura y paladares por Francia, Alemania, Bélgica, Italia, República Checa y España, ha realizado, por primera vez, su versión en los Estados Unidos, una jornada repleta de delicias culinarias acompañadas de cigarros y otros productos dominicanos.

Procigar, en colaboración con el Ministerio de Turismo de República Dominicana y la lujosa cadena de hoteles Gansevoort, realizaron esta “Noche

Dominicana” en la ciudad de Nueva York. Un encuentro donde el protagonista fue el cigarro hecho a mano, acompañado de un exquisito menú y una excepcional selección de rones dominicanos. El evento fue realizado en el rooftop del Hotel Gansevoort Park Avenue, donde participaron presidentes, CEOs, distinguidos industriales, empresarios, representantes gubernamentales, consumidores, aficionados, prensa y los master blenders de renombradas marcas dominicanas de cigarro.

Los asistentes tuvieron la oportunidad de obtener una experiencia sensorial sobre la cultura de la República Dominicana y a

la vez percibir todo lo que esta cálida isla tiene para ofrecernos como destino turístico.

Hendrik Kelner, presidente de Procigar y vicepresidente de Tabadom Holdings, Inc., presentó los mejores mezcladores y representantes de las famosas marcas dominicanas de prestigio presentes en el evento.

Procigar, in collaboration with the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism and Gansevoort Hotels & Resorts, hosted this first “Dominican Night” in New York City. An event where the main attraction was the Dominican Premium handmade cigar, accompanied by an exquisite menu and an exceptional selection of the finest rums, showcasing the best of the Dominican

Republic. Present at the event held at the rooftop of the Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel on Wednesday October 19th were the presidents, CEOs, entrepreneurs, government representatives, consumers, cigar aficionados, specialized Media and travel industry executives.

Attendees had the opportunity to experience firsthand the Dominican culture and all the warm hospitality the island has to offer as a touristic destination. The promotional video for the destination of Sosua & Cabarete, “Has Much More”, was presented at the event featuring all the destination has to offer to the elite and affluent travelers.
