Dear Friend, When our clients first arrive at one of our centers, they often define themselves by the tough circumstances and high barriers they face. Being out of work, poor or homeless would make anyone doubt their worth and what they have to contribute to the world. But at Chrysalis, we help people change the stories they have come to believe are true. A client who is frustrated becomes encouraged, a client who is insecure becomes confident and a client who is unemployed gets a job. As you will see on the following pages, Chrysalis is all about the opportunity to redefine who you are. In 2013, we helped over 2,000 clients secure employment, a record for us, and a 15% increase over 2012. The investment that you have made in our work over the past few years is paying off. New curriculum elements, our workshop series, additional client-facing staff, and better infrastructure have enabled us to provide deeper, more comprehensive support to our clients, resulting in better short- and long-term outcomes.
One of our signature initiatives is Chrysalis Enterprises, our transitional jobs program. Our businesses operate in a competitive environment and are subject to all the challenges that running a business in California entails—yet they provided over 320,000 hours of work for our clients, a 24% increase from 2012. While we are proud of our accomplishments, our work is not done. We plan to continue to invest in our people and our program in order to accelerate the pace at which our clients become work-ready, find employment, and retain their jobs. CORE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM RESUME PREP
The moment someone steps into a Chrysalis Center, they are welcomed by a lobby filled with light, color and an abundance of tools to make getting a job a reality. At the heart of the Chrysalis model is the one-on-one relationship each client has with their caseworker—we call them Employment Specialists (ES for short). Together, they develop a road map to success by customizing a plan designed to address their specific barriers. With the support of their ES and the numerous program resources, clients build the skills needed to conduct a successful job search.

In 2013, our unique model led to over 2,000 clients finding work, an all-time record and a 15% increase over 2012. We also saw the roll-out of a new Customer Service training program in addition to a doubling of the core computer literacy classes. Both of these new curriculum elements were developed to address the skills needed in today’s ultra-competitive job market.

TRANSITIONAL JOBS PROGRAM Chrysalis Enterprises (aka CE) bears the unique distinction of being one of the most successful social enterprises in the country while also playing a major role in advancing Chrysalis’ core mission of getting people back to work. Each year, our businesses employ hundreds of individuals in transitional jobs meant to simultaneously build skills and confidence.

In 2013, over 500 clients who completed the core employment program worked a total of 324,757 hours, an astounding 24% increase over 2012. Our proven model makes it possible for hard-working individuals to kick-start their employment prospects while earning a wage, growing their self-esteem and getting the type of experience that will make future employers take notice.

CE provides street and building maintenance, janitorial, warehouse, front desk and general staffing solutions to over 100 communities and businesses across L.A. County. With 16 Business Improvement District (BID) contracts, Chrysalis Enterprises is the largest BID maintenance provider in L.A. In Downtown alone, 90 Chrysalis clients are on the job each day, helping to keep our city looking great.
