In the second design studio, the concept of scale precedence and context was researched and explored deeply. Nestled along Balestier Road, an urban-scale analysis of the area was conducted with great emphasis on its circulation and the overlapping themes of institutionalised illegality and obstruction. Focusing in to the Goh Chok Tua Pek Kong Temple, the same circulation analysis was conducted, distilling out existing contextual rituals and social practices that will serve as a architectural language to be transposed in the eventual architectural design for the site behind the 19th century Taoist temple.
