In the first design studio, the process of visualising, analysing and making was explored, through a host of medium, from sketches to model making and material-crafting. The aim was to develop a keen spatial awareness of architectural elements such as programme and circulation. In the final project, the issue of materiality was explored under the theme of computational design. Various processes were explored, first in 2D and eventually to 3D, on computing information on a US weather map. A range of actions, from foldingto shearing and pleating were experimented to derive a textural composition embedded on a softfoam board, and visually sectioned using Rhino.
