Sermon Date: Oct. 12, 2014 Sermon Title: Freed Sermon Text: Exodus 5-‐12 Introduction
In Exodus chapter 5-‐12 we see this epic showdown between Moses and Pharoah. It’s the gods of Egypt vs. the God of the Israelites. Moses the soon to be leader of the Israelites went before Pharoah (Egypts highest ruling leader, who considered himself a god) and asked for the freedom of his people from slavery. Pharaoh did not take that sitting down and soon Moses’ God sent 10 plagues to show the Egyptians that he meant business. The final plague was the plague of the firstborn. The first born child of every human and animal family would die when the angel of death passed over the house. However, God provided a way for the first born to be saved. He asked Moses to tell the people that if there was blood from a pure lamb covering the door posts then the first born woud live. Many obeyed and many did not. In the end the God of Moses proved himself to be more powerful and capable then the gods of Egypt. 1. How does it feel to lose? How does it feel to win?
