NON-PROFIT SPOTLIGHT: Help I Need Transportation

I am Stephanie Burkhardt, the Director of Development for Help I Need Transportation. We started the organization in order to help working people who are stuck with expensive car repair or replacement. Our assistance plan provides them with a replaced or repaired vehicle, restoring their ability to work, and meet family obligations.

What drives the passion for HINT is the fact that sometimes a person cannot control the hand they are dealt in life. If we can help those who are struggling get back on their feet with the gift of transportation, then we are making a difference in the quality of not only their life but their family and friends as well.

We have been able to help several people since May of 2022, but one of our favorite success stories is from the very first person we were able to help, James Black. He is a 50 year old veteran who HINT was able to provide with a gently used GMC Yukon. This vehicle not only was able to help him get to and from his medical appointments, but it also provided him a place to sleep.

Another success story is about a woman who desperately needed help with repair costs. She was the main provider of transportation for her grandchildren to get to and from school and other appointments. When we evaluated her vehicle we deemed it unsafe to drive and unable to be fixed. We didn’t stop there though. We were able to provide her with a reliable 4 door vehicle that would safely provide transportation for her entire family.

We recently hosted a great fundraising event, bringing together a dozen of the city's top networking organizations, where the majority of the proceeds went to HINT. We are looking forward to hosting more fundraising events in the future!

The best way to support our nonprofit would be through monetary donations at our website, donating an old car, or spreading the word about HINT to hopefully help us to partner with other businesses and nonprofits.
