1. INTRODUCTION
At Castle Hill RSL Club Ltd (CHRG) we are committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all our employees, visitors, and contractors. CHRG prioritises the prevention of workplace hazards and the protectionofindividualsfrompotentialrisks. Through thispolicy,weaimtopreventincidentsfromhappening at home, at work and in-between.
The purpose of this policy is to prevent and protect employees, customers and contractors from workplace hazards and risks, both physical and psychological.
This policy applies to all employees of CHRG and all persons performing work at the direction of, or on behalf of CHRG (for example contractors, subcontractors, agents, consultants, and temporary staff collectively referred to as ‘workers’).
The Work Health and Safety Manager, in consultation with the Work Health and Safety Committee, will be responsible for implementing and managing the Work Health and Safety policy.
1.1. Objectives
Our work health and safety objectives are to:
PREVENT incidents from happening at home, at work and in-between.
PROTECT our people, our patrons, our community, our venues, our environment.
PRIORITISE a WHS mindset in the conduct of our day-to-day business operations.
We will achieve this by:
Promoting a safety-first culture throughout the organisation.
Providing comprehensive safety training and awareness programs to employees.
Conducting risk assessments on all work activities, processes, and equipment, identifying, and controlling identified hazards.
Ensuring compliance with relevant local, national, and industry safety regulations and standards.
Providing appropriate safety equipment and ensuring regular maintenance and inspection of safety devices.
Developing and implementing emergency response and crisis management plans.
Maintaining a robust system for reporting and investigating incidents, near-misses, and potential hazards to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Maintaining safety protocols for contractors, suppliers, and visitors to ensure their safety while on CHRG premises or involved in company activities.
Regularly reviewing and enhancing safety policies, procedures and practices based on consultation and industry best practices.
2. RESPONSIBILITES
2.1. Management Responsibilities
All managers are responsible for:
Promoting and contributing to the health and safety of all persons in the workplace.
Ensuring the physical and psychological health and wellbeing of staff is promoted and supported.
Reporting all hazards, incidents, injuries and near misses in line with our hazard and risk reporting procedures.
Participating in the development, implementation and continual improvement of a health and safety management system.

Ensuring all CHRG’s WHS policy, procedures, and safe work practices are adhered to.
2.2. Employee Responsibilities
All employees are responsible for:
Taking reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of other persons.
Following CHRG’s WHS policy, procedures, and safe work practices.
Participating in WHS activities such as inspections, investigations, evacuation drills, WHS meetings, training and risk assessments as required.
Reporting all hazards, incidents, injuries and near misses as soon as possible.
3. WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY SYSTEM
CHRG’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) system is a set of policies, procedures and plans that systematically manages health and safety at work and can help to minimise the risk of injury and illness from workplace operations. These include (but are not limited to)
WHS Strategy Plan.
Defined WHS responsibilities.
Exercising due diligence.
Health and safety training and education.
Adopting a risk management approach to manage health and safety risks.
Consultation with management and employees on matters related to health and safety.
Emergency procedures and drills.
Workplace inspections.
Incident/accident reporting.
Management of injured employees.
4. CONSULTATION AND COMMUNICATION
Effective communication and consultation are vital to maintaining a safe work environment. CHRG has established channels for open and transparent communication between management and employees regarding health and safety matters. Regular health and safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety awareness campaigns will be conducted to foster education and awareness.
5. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION, RISK ASSESSMENT AND CONTROL
CHRG is committed to proactively identifying hazards, assessing associated risks and implementing controls to mitigate those risks. All employees are encouraged to participate in hazard identification and are encouraged to reportany identified hazardsimmediately. Regularriskassessments andhazard checklistswill be conducted to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
If you are unable to rectify the hazard safely you must verbally report the hazard immediately to your direct manager. If necessary, you should block the hazard if it safe to do so and erect signage warning others of the hazard.

6. INCIDENT REPORTING, INVESTIGATION AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS
All incidents, accidents, near misses or hazardous situations must be reported as soon as possible. Investigations will be conducted to determine the root causes and contributing factors, aiming to protect our staff and patrons and prevent similar incidents from happening. Appropriate corrective actions will be implemented to address identified issues and prevent further incidents.

7. INJURY MANAGEMENT & RETURN TO WORK
CHRG is committed to providing comprehensive support and effective injury management to facilitate a safe and timely return to work for all employees. CHRG’s return to work co-ordinator will consult the insurer and the injured team member to create a suitable return to work program that will include goals of the program, identifying suitable duties andwhere possiblewillbe thesame orsimilar to thosecarriedoutbefore theinjury, assessing current capabilities, related timeframes and milestones and identifying potential barriers.

8. REVIEW OF THIS POLICY
This policy will be reviewed every two years to ensure it remains consistent with all relevant legislative requirements, as well as the changing nature of the company or more frequently where legislative requirements are changed or amended.
9. POLICY COMMUNICATION AND EDUCATION
This policy will be stored on CHRG’s SharePoint. It will be incorporated into induction/onboarding programs and CHRG will conduct education sessions on the application and operation of this policy as required and when any changes to the policy are implemented.
