ENVIRONMENTALSUSTAINABILITY

1. INTRODUCTION

Castle Hill RSL Club Ltd (CHRG) is committed to conducting business activities in a responsible, environmentally sound, and sustainable manner. The purpose of this policy is to minimise and where possible eliminate the effects that CHRG’s business activities may have on the natural environment.

This policy applies to all team members of CHRG.

2. OUR COMMITMENT

CHRG recognises that our business activities have both direct and indirect environmental impacts. We seek to identify these impacts and find effective ways of eliminating or reducing them. Throughout our operations we regard compliance with environmental laws and regulatory requirements as the minimum standard to be achieved and will put in place additional environmental initiatives to go beyond compliance where appropriate, ensuring continuous improvement.

CHRG aims to:

 commit to fostering sustainable use of natural resources.

 incorporate environmental sustainability into core business activities.

 undertake responsible resource management practices that aim to prevent pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and reduce waste.

 work closely with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders to continually improve business processes which affect the environment.

 explore best practice environmental sustainability approaches in terms of technology and infrastructure.

 foster the initiation and ownership of environmental activities by staff through communication of this policy to build a strong environmentally aware business culture.

 ensure that all its employees have a level of knowledge and understanding appropriate to their environmental responsibilities and are aware of actions they can take to reduce their impacts.

3. PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES

CHRG’s commitment to environmental sustainability is guided by the following principles and practices:

3.1.Energy and Greenhouse Gas Emissions

We recognise that the demand for energy and human activities such as burning fossil fuel and land clearing have a significant impact on the environment.

Where appropriate, CHRG will conserve natural resources for future generations through continuous improvements in energy and water efficiency and minimising greenhouse gas emission across business operations.

3.2.Waste Management

We recognise that traditional approaches to waste management rely on the natural environment to absorb and assimilate unwanted by-products, which can result in negative environmental impacts.

Where practical, CHRG will minimise waste by practising recovering, reducing, re-using, and recycling in all aspects of its business.

CHRG will also continuously evaluate and adopt alternative and/or innovative practices including but not limited to technology, to reduce waste produced as a result of business operations.

3.3.Suppliers, Products and Material Use

The consideration of environment sustainability in key business decisions is important. As such, CHRG endeavours to analyse, assess and consider environment sustainability in all key procurement decisions, including but not limited to materials, procurement, supply chains, process, and products.

Where possible, CHRG will source environmentally acceptable materials, equipment, and technology in place of those which may be harmful.

Where possible, CHRG will also promote a culture of strong environmental ethic by evaluating suppliers for environmental responsibility and ensuring they maintain acceptable environmental policies, prior to and during engagement.

4. MONITORING & CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT

We will monitor our progress in environmental sustainability on a monthly basis and undertake an annual review to ensure that we are actively seeking new ways to continue reduction of CHRG’s footprint on the environment.

Wherever possible, the ideas generated are transformed into actual operating procedures and real results are delivered to the organisation.

5. NOTIFICATION AND INVESTIGATION

All employees are encouraged and expected to report environmental impact incidents, including compliance breaches. Relevant incidents and breaches will be reported to the Board and relevant compliance bodies.

CHRG will ensure that there are no adverse consequences for any employee who, in good faith, alerts CHRG of possible compliance breaches.

6. BREACH OF THIS POLICY

Breaches of this policy may result in counselling and or disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.

7. REVIEW OF THIS POLICY

This policy will be reviewed every two years to ensure it remains consistent with all relevant legislative requirements, as well as the changing nature of the company or more frequently where legislative requirements are changed or amended.

8. POLICY COMMUNICATION AND EDUCATION

This policy will be stored on CHRG’s intranet site. It will be incorporated into induction/onboarding programs and CHRG will conduct education sessions on the application and operation of this policy as required and when any changes to the policy are implemented.
