Social Bowls - Bowler of the Game / Day
We believe there is strong merit in highlighting bowlers’ performances on our social bowls day (Wednesday / Thursday / Saturday). What tends to be the norm is that the winning rinks on the day are announced by calling out the team’s Skip and the scores, then prizes are handed out to a winning team according to the day.
How often is it that a member of the losing team (or the winning team) is considered by the combatants as the ‘bowler of the game’ but there is no recognition of this to the wider members.
We should reward a bowler’s performance by highlighting their accomplishments on the day.
How this would work:
A ‘Bowler of the Game’ is nominated by all team players in the game prior to entering the club house - majority rules. Skips to make final choice if no outright decision can be made.
Chosen ‘Bowler of the Game’ is written on a piece of paper that has already been attached to the scorecard (or highlighted by circling name on the completed scorecard) and their name is read out when rink results are announced.
After all results and all ‘Bowler of the Games’ are announced a random draw is then conducted to determine the Bowler Of The Day.
The ‘Bowler Of The Day’ winner collects $15 for their achievement, which will cover their comp fee for the day.
We believe this initiative would be appreciated by all members knowing that they bowled well and that their skill on the day could now be recognised.
