CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING

Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) grants college credit toward an associate degree or technical diploma for knowledge or skills you have gained that directly relate to your program. Previous knowledge and skills may be the result of work or volunteer experiences, certifications, apprenticeships, military training, extensive self-instruction, or professional development.

TRANSFER CENTER

Transferring in credits from other learning environments is common at CVTC. You can transfer in credits from college courses taken in high school, by taking an exam, or through apprenticeship training or work experience. Your credits can come from a variety of places, but at least 25% of them must be earned through graded coursework at CVTC.

GUIDED PATHWAYS

CVTC has partnered with UW-Eau Claire, UW-River Falls, and UW-Stout to create seamless transfer guides in key degree areas including Business, Education, Health, and STEM/Engineering. Get step-by-step support before, during, and after your transfer.

DUAL CREDIT

High School Academy: Students take college classes in a career pathway and earn both high school and college credit. Courses are reserved for high school students and taught by CVTC faculty at their high school, a CVTC host site, or a CVTC campus.

Start College Now: Students can apply to take classes at CVTC that are not offered in high school to earn high school and college credit. Students can register for a course with other CVTC students if a seat is available at registration.

Transcripted Credit: Students take CVTC courses which are offered at the high school and taught by high school instructors who have met CVTC accreditation requirements and worked with CVTC faculty to match the curriculum. Students earn both high school and college credit.
