Welcome to our adult course guide for the academic year 2024 to 2025.
If you’re thinking of learning something new this year, then Chichester College is the place to start. Whatever your ambitions – leisure learning and hobbies, skilled trades, access to higher education, or professional courses – we will have a course to help you succeed. And whatever you decide to study, we’re committed to supporting you every step of the way.
We also offer a range of free online courses which will get you a level 2 qualification in different fields including business, management, childcare, health care and more. Plus, GCSE English and maths – free for adults who do not currently have these qualifications –and a highly successful ESOL programme. You can also check out our adult courses at Brinsbury College, our sister college offering land-based courses in Pulborough.
Whether you want to study for personal satisfaction, to progress your career or to make new friends, we hope that in this guide you find something that sparks your interest, and we look forward to seeing you here soon.
We’ll work with you to find out what support you may be entitled to and to help you access any funding available.
Here are just some of the options available to help you fund your education.
Fee Waivers
Fee waivers may be available for students aged 19+ who are studying their first government-designated full level 2 or level 3 qualification, or an entry level or level 1 course with the intention of progressing to level 2.
Unemployed and low wage earners
You may be eligible for fee waivers on level 2 and below courses if you are either unemployed and in receipt of certain benefits, or you earn less than £25,000 annual gross salary.
National Skills Offer
The National Skills Offer is intended to help adults gain the skills needed to improve their job prospects. Adults in England have the chance to access a first level 3 qualification for free. This offer is also available to adults in England who earn less than £25,000 annually or who are unemployed, regardless of their prior qualification level.
Advanced Learner Loan for level 3 courses and higher
An Advanced Learner Loan can cover the cost of course fees and you don’t need to start repayments when your income is over a certain amount (the ‘threshold’ amount).
University-Level
If you are applying for a University-Level course, for example a foundation degree or top-up degree, then you can apply for a loan via Student Finance England.

Many of our courses can be enrolled and paid for online at chichester.ac.uk. You can apply online by searching for your course and clicking on the ‘APPLY’ button found on each course page.
Alternatively, we can send you an electronic application form by email upon request.
We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received your application with an acknowledgement letter, usually within two weeks.
One day Courses
No refund will be granted to students who withdraw from a one-day class less than 14 days before the start date. In all other cases, if a student cancels their place more than 14 days prior to the course commencement a £50 administration fee is due.
Courses with a duration of less than 13 weeks
No refunds will be given where a student withdraws from the course less than 14 days prior to commencement or once the course has started. In all other cases, if a student cancels their place more than 14 days prior to the course commencement a £50 administration fee is due.
Course duration of 13 weeks or more (excluding University-Level students)
Where a student withdraws within the first 28 days following course commencement a £50 administration fee will be due. If a student attends beyond 28 calendar days from the course commencement, the full fee is payable

It is the student’s responsibility to inform the college in writing that they are leaving their course. Where a student feels that there are exceptional circumstances that prevent them from continuing with their studies, a written application for fee review can be made to a senior CCG representative. Each case will be judged on its merits. Applications must be made within one month of the withdrawn date held on the central student records database. Supporting evidence must be provided with the application. Applications should be emailed to salesledger@chichester.ac.uk
Our Access to Higher Education courses are ideal for those who have taken a break from their education or are thinking of a new pathway in their studies. They provide an intensive overview of the subject alongside skills preparation for progression onto university or other higher education.
Access courses are taught part time over two or three days per week and require 30 hours a week study commitment.
Looking to learn a new skill or hone your existing talents in the arts? We offer a range of hands-on leisure courses in art, design, fashion and crafts. A fantastic way to relieve stress, explore your creativity and meet like-minded people, you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve.
If you’re looking to change career and need the right qualification, our courses are the perfect way to learn a new skill and further your professional development.
Our computing & IT courses will equip you with the skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital age.
Whether you want to update your trade skills, gain a new qualification, renew mandatory accreditations or learn something completely different, we have the right course to help you succeed.
Inspire the next generation and transform lives through a rewarding career! On our education courses, you’ll gain valuable insight into the teaching roles and responsibilities, alongside ways to maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
If you’re fascinated by how things work and enjoy solving problems then you’re an engineer in the making. Practical sessions in our workshop will equip you with design, build and testing skills. For those interested in computer aided design, we have evening courses in SolidWorks modelling.
Our maths and English GCSE courses are designed for adult learners.
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Whether you are looking to achieve your GCSE qualification or improve your confidence in English and maths, we can help. Our friendly and experienced tutors will support you to reach your goal. Our GCSE courses are entirely free if you’re over 19 and you haven’t already achieved a grade C/grade 4 GCSE in maths or English.
We run highly successful ESOL courses for young people and adults. We have a range of courses to suit all learners and support with literacy and employability skills.

With a working farm, forge, stables and animal centre, Brinsbury College offers an opportunity to study subjects you wouldn’t normally find in a classroom.
