CONFERENCE HELPS BLACK WOMEN BREAK THE GLASS CEILING

orthwestern University is honoring Black historic leaders during Black History Month with several events that will include awardwinning multicultural marketer Lizette Williams, who will discuss ‘Cracking the concrete ceiling: Bringing Black Girl Magic to Corporate America,” on Feb. 22, 2017 at the McCormick Foundation Center located on 1870 Campus Drive. “Williams, a Northwestern University Kellogg alumna, will share real-life lessons of her two-decade-long climb up the corporate ladder as an Afro-Latina woman,” according to a press release. Currently, Williams is the Multicultural Marketing Leader at North America for Kimberly-Clark Corporation. She maintains Kimberly-Clark’s vision by guiding the Company’s business and purpose to diverse audiences and successful brands like Scott, U by Kotex and Huggies, which all are enclosed around North America’s $6 Billion dollar business. Williams said during her upcoming discussion, she’ll share how Black Girl Magic is beneficial for black women who choose to use it as leverage and navigate through corporate America. “If you look at black girls in particular, they are one

DOLTON RESIDENTS SHARE INSIGHTS, CONCERNS (Dolton, Ill) Dolton residents received a warm welcome and listening ear from Dolton Village Trustee and Mayoral Candidate Duane Muhammad at his recently held Open House reception which took place at his campaign office, 15008 Woodlawn Avenue in Dolton recently. Joined by his slate of three candidates for village trustee, Muhammad heard from village residents who offered ideas, concerns, and questions for discussion. They also shared words of encouragement to continue to run his campaign with the vision, honesty, transparency, and professionalism they believe have been missing from the current administration. In a no-holes-barred conversation, Muhammad responded to every question. Concerns regarding economic development, inadequate housing stock, lack of youth programs, and board of trustees’ lack of professionalism were those most pressing to the residents and shared by Muhammad and his slate. “Our Village has many features that are attractive and advantageous for businesses and developers.
