Bond Commission OKs loans

WALLINGFORD — Chick-fil-A surprised an employee with a $25,000 scholarship on Thursday, May 11. Three local businesses received loans through the state’s Manufacturing Assistance Act when the State Bond Commission met May 12. The commission authorized the release of a combined $34.7 million to 11 companies, including EDAC Technologies and
Industrial Heater Corporation, both in Cheshire, and Durhambased Hobson and Motzer, which recently opened a plant in Wallingford. The allocation is part of $351.7 million in borrowing the commission authorized, bringing the total in approved general obligation bonding to roughly $597.4 million for the calendar year. Last week’s meeting is just the second this year after Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, the chairman, canceled Vote for us as your Best local HVAC!

EDAC Technologies received the largest loan among the three area businesses, with the commission authorizing the release of $4.5 million.
