CO detectors added at school after incident By Jesse Buchanan Record-Journal staff
School officials have put additional tests in place and installed CO detectors after a carbon monoxide release at Highland Elementary School last week (see related story on page A28).
Alula, a Harrier Hawk, was part of the program from the Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy presentation at Ives Farm on Oct. 16.
Several elementary school students became ill Wednesday after a malfunctioning boiler unit released
high amounts of carbon monoxide. Board of Education Chairwoman Cathy Hellreich said school officials wanted to be sure that the problem had been fixed before students returned to classrooms Oct. 20 and took a reading of CO levels. “They wanted to double check again this morning,” she said.
