Adding to a lovingly curated collection of baubles enriches the history and traditions of each passing Christmas. A meaningful tree is one with many stories hung on its branches – a decoration given by a loved one, a slightly wonky handmade offering from a child, vintage finds from a second-hand shop and those bought to mark an occasion or discovered on a special holiday. Some are simply bought for their exquisite beauty and the temptation to add yet another bauble to the heavily-laden tree. Here are a few of our favourites to add to the treasure chest of decorations. Selection of Festive Field baubles: Brown Owl, Red Painted Tree, Street Lamp, Felt Deer and Clear Glitter Berry, from Ā£6, all John Lewis

Set of three Guards in a Matchbox, £16.75, Yoyo & Flo
