A letter from home

Whether looking for design and planting inspiration for the garden or to grow fl owers to create beautiful indoor displays, such as this from the Lincolnshire Flower Company (p128), there is something for everyone who loves gardens and interiors this issue.

Gardens today, perhaps more than ever, function as an additional room of the home – a room outdoors to escape to, relax in and enjoy. It therefore seems only natural that we embrace this extension to our English homes with our garden special this month.

For those excited at the prospect of a large-scale garden project, we looked to the experts on our sister title The English Garden to share their infinite knowledge on Choosing a Garden Designer (p91) and for adding art to the garden in the form of sculptures (p107). Elsewhere, we study that most English of flowers, the rose (p128) and explore how to make a garden come alive with container planting (p120) – a quick and simple way to create an impressove display of blooms each season, whatever size your outside space. It will come as no surprise that we also couldn’t resist sharing our favourite new accessories for gardeners (p28), along with the edible delights that our regular columnist Matthew Fort is enjoying in his kitchen garden this month (p118).

Of course, this issue contains an abundance of inspiration for interiors too. From creative ways to update schemes with paint (p70) to making architectural enhancements to create bigger, brighter rooms that work for your lifestyle (p80).

With inspiration for both inside and out, this truly is an issue with something for everyone to enjoy!
