REGENCY REVIVAL
The elegance of Regency style has long been admired by our readers, but Netflix television series Bridgerton may have piqued interest in how to bring this graceful look into all manner of homes. Add nods to the style with shapely, carved furniture, gilded mirrors, and fine silks in pastel colours, or opt for contemporary twists in the form of wallpaper or a statement table. Or simply set the scene for afternoon tea with the finest china and silverware to ensure the occasion is the talk of the ‘ton’.

DESIGN STUDIO

CM Design Studio is based between London and Monaco. They are a boutique team lead by Charlotte-Elizabeth Evans and Mary van Naeltwicjk. The design duo have worked on a selection of residential and commercial projects, for both developers and private clients internationally. The Studio emulates a tasteful balance between luxurious finishes and rustic touches, creating a relaxed and sophisticated aesthetic that suits a multitude of properties from a London townhouse, a Country Cottage to a Cote d’Azur Villa.
For Charlotte-Elizabeth and Mary, the fundamental starting block for any design scheme is a neutral palette. “We like to build on the finishes of carefully selected furniture and accessories, as these are the items that we have spent a great deal of time sourcing and so wish for them to become a focal feature in our schemes. We love working with more weathered furniture items as this creates a depth to our interiors; we bring them back to life with our wonderful restorers and then create a cohesion with our fabrics through calming colour tones, thick weaves and textured materials. The addition of sumptuous velvets, silks, hand painted wall coverings and specialist finishes, such as, selenite table lamps and intricate inlays in bronze, or specialist stones elevates the scheme and creates a subtle luxury.”
By combining timeless elegance with a contemporary rustic edge, CM Design Studio effortlessly blends both form and function ensuring each Client is offered a fully unique design service. 100 Sydney Street for City Developments LTD, photographed by James Balston.
