BUILDING TRADES

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:

Students enrolled in Building Trades will gain an understanding of the basic theories of carpentry, using the tools and equipment of the trade. They will then apply these theories to lab projects coupled with handson experience either in the classroom or at an off campus construction site during their two years of study. In 2011, 66% of all FEH BOCES Completers went onto some postsecondary education or training.

Framing or Finish Building Materials Sales Caretaker/Custodian Foreperson

UNITS OF STUDY INCLUDE: Introduction to Carpentry Safety Rough Framing Interior/Exterior Trim and Finish Building Materials Roofing, Siding, Flooring Basic Electricity, Plumbing and Masonry Window and Door Installation Cabinet Making Blueprint Reading and Estimating Materials

CTE ENDORSEMENT AVAILABLE Students may receive New York State Education Department CTE Endorsement on their high school diploma if they:  Meet all graduation requirements at the home school  Pass all 3 parts of the National Technical Assessment (written, practical and project)  Successfully complete the two year CTE Program

Furniture Maker REGISTRATION INFORMATION ACADEMIC CREDIT AVAILABLE Students can earn academic credit in a two-year program toward graduation for:
