DISCOVER THE BEST OF THE BVI

Once you’re ready to set sail, your journey through the BVI unfolds with unique destinations and unforgettable experiences. From our Tortola base, you’ll have access to over 60 islands and cays, each offering its own charm and appeal:

The Baths on Virgin Gorda: Recommended by Becky, The Moorings UK Sales Team:

“In the BVI’s my favourite place was the Baths on Virgin Gorda: We anchored off the beach and swam ashore and walked through the maze of boulders and caverns which lead to a natural swimming pool inside one of the caves, we went early in the morning to avoid the crowds of tourists.”

Anegada’s Pristine Shores: Unlike the volcanic origin of other islands, Anegada is a coral atoll with long, sandy beaches and a laid-back atmosphere. Relax on the beach, snorkel the vibrant reefs, or enjoy the island’s famous lobster.

Jost Van Dyke’s Beachside Vibe: This lively island is known for its relaxed beach bars and welcoming vibe. Join in the fun at the famous Soggy Dollar Bar, or simply unwind on White Bay Beach and take in the views.

CREATE YOUR IDEAL ITINERARY

GALAPAGOS CRUISE HOLIDAYS

Located about 1,000 km from the coast of continent Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands are a haven for a vast array of wildlife, some not found anywhere else on earth ...

There are not many places on earth as renowned for close encounters with wildlife than the Galapagos Islands. Serving as inspiration for Darwin’s Theory of Evolution, it will come as no surprise that a myriad of exotic species inhabits the islands and around the sea of rocky formations and islets. Spot vast populations of land and marine iguanas roaming freely, giant tortoises meandering slowly and seemingly aimlessly and sea lions basking on the sunny shores.

The Galapagos are also a birding paradise and colourful blue-footed boobies, Waved albatrosses and characterful Galapagos penguins can be found in abundance.

Given the remoteness of the archipelago, which lies off the coast of Ecuador covering an enormous 45,000 sq kilometres of ocean, the best way to experience the Galapagos is arguably by cruise. The waters are filled with dolphins and the blue skies with a plethora of birdlife, complementing the land-dwelling species you

will find on the islands. Many parts of the islands can in fact only be explored by boat and only open to cruise ship passengers.

Latin Routes works with a wide range of vessels although whichever cruise you decide to take, you can expect to have the most delicious food, a luxurious onboard experience, be able to do lots of water activities, see an abundance of wildlife and enjoy conversations with expert guides.

A CARIBBEAN CHRISTMAS ONBOARD A TALL SHIP

Join the tall ship Blue Clipper for a Caribbean Christmas as she sails from Barbados to the island of St Lucia ...

Join tall ship Blue Clipper on the island of Barbados as you enjoy authentic Caribbean island hopping through the Windward islands to St Lucia.

This Caribbean sailing holiday adventure certainly has something for everyone, from traditional tall ship sailing in perfect trade wind conditions to island hopping, wildlife spotting and tropical island relaxation away from the busy tourist resorts.

BLUE CLIPPER

Built-in Sweden in 1991, tall ship Blue Clipper is an impressive three-masted gaff rig schooner. With a clipper bow, original teak deck and elegant stern, she mixes a traditional tall ship feel with a relatively modern build giving guests an authentic experience with all the mod cons.

She has spent many years sailing all over the world and currently spends her summers sailing Scotland and the Hebrides, her autumn months heading south to Spain and Portugal, then setting sail across the Atlantic for some winter sun in the Caribbean. Originally owned by the Brandy company Hennessy and named ‘Spirit of Hennessey, she appeared in many TV programmes and commercials before being privately bought in the late 90’s.

On deck, she boasts ample space for her guests to become fully immersed in hands-on sailing, heaving the ropes, hoisting the sails, learning ropes skills, and even taking the helm. She has 3 kayaks and 3 paddle boards for guest use while on anchor so you can explore even further inshore.

A spacious saloon, wheelhouse and galley also sit at deck level, while below decks have been wellconsidered with six spacious ensuite cabins. All cabins have full-size bunks, a small desk, a porthole for natural light and heating/air conditioning.

THE SAILING AREA

BARBADOS TO ST LUCIA

The tropical island paradise of Barbados is well known for its brilliant turquoise waters, framing powdery white, sandy shores with colourful timber houses lining the streets. The UNESCO World Heritage capital of Bridgetown, built in the 17th century, is a fine example of British colonial architecture. It’s well worth spending some time exploring here before joining the tall ship Blue Clipper for your Caribbean sailing adventure. Blue Clipper will be moored or anchored in the harbour of Bridgetown on the island of Barbados, ready to welcome guests aboard. As with all our sailing holidays, Blue Clipper will make the most of the Caribbean trade winds, sailing and island hopping from Barbados to St Lucia. The list of islands below is to give an idea of what awaits your Caribbean sailing holiday, but the wind will always dictate the route, and there are just too many islands to make one list!

ST VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES

The Grenadines are a chain of tiny idyllic islands providing a plethora of picturesque anchorages, from dense jungle, rolling hills and black volcanic sandy beaches. Discover the set used for the Pirates of the Caribbean movie and explore waterfalls just a short walk from the beach. Spend some time here snorkelling, swimming and kayaking the coastline full of natural rock formations and archways. Blue Clipper has standup paddle boards and a double kayak for guests to use to explore the coastline – (included in the ticket price).

ST LUCIA

The volcanic spires that make the island of St Lucia a spectacular landmark in the Windward Islands and provide a breathtaking anchorage in Piton Bay. The villages dot the coastline are predominantly traditional Caribbean fishing towns, lined with volcanic beaches and great snorkelling and diving opportunities. The island’s interior is home to dense rainforest with varying levels of hiking trails if you fancy walking to gain a dramatic vantage point of the bay!

Available for charter through CharterWorld this winter season, the 43.2m (144’) superyacht CROSSED SABRE brings her unique style and charm to those wishing to visit St Lucia and the Grenadines ...

No detail is left to chance by the professional and dedicated crew of the 43.89m (144’) superyacht CROSSED SABRE who keep the yacht in pristine condition so guests can experience a truly premium charter vacation. Captains Mike Conquest and Simon Alway are excited to showcase St Lucia and the Grenadines this year, from onboard this fabulous motor yacht.

Built in 2006 by US shipyard Burger, she was lavishly refitted in 2020 and now presents as one of the finest motor yachts of her size in the Caribbean. Expansive exterior decks with both sociable and intimate spaces complement the opulent, yet homely custom-finished salons and guest staterooms. Perfectly plumped cushions, creative table decorations and elegant sprays of flowers can be found across the yacht with the chef and crew delighted to turn every meal into an occasion.

The seven staterooms on board include an extremely private owner’s suite on the main deck and an equally exclusive VIP suite on the bridge deck. The additional five suites are on the lower deck, where three queen and two twin cabins (one convertible) offer delightful, hotel quality en suite guest spaces. This highly adaptable configuration is suitable for any charter party; whether six couples are sharing the cost and require multiple doubles, or multi-generational families who need quiet spaces for grandparents and a family layout on the lower deck with doubles and twins for the kids.

Days can be spent soaking up the Caribbean sunshine on the sun deck where there are plenty of sun beds, a full bar and a fabulous jacuzzi area – the crew can serve juices by day and something a little strong at cocktail hour. The upper deck can be transformed at night to become an outdoor movie theatre with a supersized retractable screen, plush seating and recliner chairs.

The interior is beautifully presented with rich African Cherry and Amboyna Burl wood blending perfectly with neutral fabrics and jewel-coloured accents. She feels like a home from home and with seamless crew access around the yacht, guests can be sure of privacy with discrete levels of service. For added comfort and accessibility there is even an elevator in the central lobby to whisk guests between deck levels.

A great yacht is the foundation of a wonderful charter experience, but the crew are key to guests making those all-important lasting memories. On board CROSSED SABRE guests will be looked after by a professional team of eleven, who pride themselves on offering the finest level of service, tailored to guests’ exact wishes. From arranging the water toys and creating private beach set ups, to serving drinks and dinner and turning down the cabins – nothing is too much trouble.

This year CROSSED SABRE is carrying a brand new 41ft Intrepid Tender as well as a 20ft Novurania Beach Landing Cat Tender so guests can make the most of pristine anchorages with convenient and secure access to the local island experiences.

CharterWorld Charter Manager, LJ Houghting, who represents CROSSED SABRE has years of experience creating luxury charters on some of the Caribbean’s best yachts and considers St Lucia and the Grenadines to be ideal for both first-time and experienced charterers.

“With ease of access from international flights into Grenada, St Vincent or St Lucia or private flying into Canouan – a highly sought-after destination – the opportunities are endless”, she says.

“Chartering from St Lucia and heading south into the Grenadines offers a plethora of exciting excursions like hiking the Pitons, horseback riding or zip lining, plus chocolate making at Hotel Chocolat. Secluded anchorages give charterers the opportunity to utilize the yachts’ water toys including waverunners, fliteboards, seabobs, SUPs and Kayaks.”

If this wasn’t enough, these paradise islands –framed by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and calm Caribbean on the west – offer a wide range of delicious restaurants including Rabot Restaurant at the Rabot Hotel. Set on Hotel Chocolat’s working cacao farm they serve exclusive cuisine and a charming St Lucian welcome which blend to create a wonderful onshore dining location for charterers.

Or head down to Trikeri or Dokos, uninhabited islets that are well worth a swim and an overnight stay before you cross to Spetses or the coves on the Peloponnese around Ermioni.

SPETSES

Spetses is also a historical, cosmopolitan island, which boasts two ports; the main and the old harbor. Every June, Spetses hosts a classic boat race and in September the Armata celebration of a historic sea battle with the Ottomans. Hundreds of sailing boats and yachts crowd the well organized marina especially those months. The island is ringed with lovely wooded beaches, where you can anchor safely, while there are more across the way at Kosta, Porto Heli and Ermioni.

A well-known island for its volcanic origin, Santorini lies between the best destinations worldwide. Sailing tours to the volcano and the hot springs make sailing a romantic exploration through the island’s history, offering travellers a lifetime experience.

‘HAPPY ME’AN OWNER’S INSIGHT ON THIS AMAZING 40M CHARTER YACHT

Available for charter in Croatia & the Adriatic, TWW Yachts recently met with the owners of the 40M ‘Happy Me’ to discuss how they came about buying her ...

It is not unusual, when speaking with yacht owners, to find that very few spend more than a few weeks a year aboard their yacht, even now when superyachts are able to double as home offices and many have impressive autonomous capabilities. One couple that bucks that trend however, are the owners of the 40-metre superyacht Happy Me, who enjoy, not a few weeks, but almost a week per month for the entire Mediterranean summer aboard their semi-custom Benetti. We recently sat down with the owners to hear more about the customisations made to their yacht, including the embroidered panels made by a collective of Vietnamese women, their love of adventure and passion for cruising in Croatia.

Tell us about your history with yachts and how you came to build a superyacht?

Husband: It all started with our love of being in nature. Being outside reminds us of our place in the world and being on the water is really the epitome of the outdoors experience – enjoying the day from sunrise to sunset, swimming in the sea and exploring hidden islands. That passion drove us to our first yacht charters more than 15 years ago aboard 55 foot motor yachts, but we were always disappointed that by 2pm captains and crew wanted to leave the anchorages and head into port.

We didn’t get into chartering to sit stern-to in marinas. We wanted to wake up in private bays and jump straight into the water, but the crew had other priorities – which we also understood. We realised that to really have that autonomy and to go where we wanted to go, we needed our own yacht, so in 2010 we bought a 26-metre Princess in Croatia, which was the moment we met Captain Boris and Chief stewardess Nicky, who are still with us today.

Wife: Croatia became our second love and really offered us everything we could want in a yachting destination. By 2016 we were spending weeks at a time aboard and that experience really taught us what we loved (and didn’t love), eventually leading to the decision to build our own dream yacht.

So in 2017 you acquired an in-build semi-custom Benetti Classic Supreme 132, later to become Happy Me, can you share some of those unique customisations?

Husband: For us the sundeck is the best place to be throughout the year, with the great views and best sunshine. Most superyachts feature an open sundeck, but because we start using the yacht in April and continue through to October, it can get windy and chilly so we decided instead to close the central section to create a protected area which is unique for this series. It’s been such a success because it made that deck a lot more versatile and usable, and with heaters inside you have a great spot to sit whatever the weather.

The second thing is that most yachts have at least one dining table on every deck, as well as in the main saloon, but for us this just seemed like an unnecessary use of space. We decided instead to use the middle deck as a sporty, fun space where we could play games with friends and entertain. We had a self-levelling pool table and a foosball table made, added a bar with beer taps and this is the space that we use all the time when onboard – whether it’s just the two of us or we have friends and it is also loved by our charter guests.

Did you have charter guests in mind when you were designing the yacht, particularly as you designed the interiors yourselves?

Wife: It was our dream to create an active boat where we could have fun, so these choices were really personal decisions for us, but it happens that they are also

loved by charter guests, especially because she is quite unusual. The most important thing for us was to create a space that felt like home, whereas most boats are fairly neutral in their interior design but we wanted to add our spirit to Happy Me.

I worked hard on her design because it was important to create something visually beautiful, but that fit with our life. We spent a long time considering the material choices, to make sure she was robust enough to withstand quite a bit of use, but also so that the crew had an easy experience with the boat. We really didn’t want to come aboard and spend our time worrying about spilling things on the floor, so the balance between beauty and functionality was very important.

Husband: The interior configuration is also very tailored to our lifestyle, with the formal main saloon and then the more informal and entertainment area above. We have also created a massage room on the middle deck and have two therapists within the crew.

Can you tell us a bit about the embroidery panels that adorn many of the spaces?

Wife: I am half Vietnamese and I travel there often for work on a foundation that I run, alongside my husband. This embroidery technique is deeply embedded in Vietnamese culture and over the years I have much admired the artistry of the work. During one trip some years ago I visited the women who created these panels and spent some days with them learning about their craft and I was deeply inspired by their commitment to their work. It takes around 10 years to qualify in this technique, but if they want to create a face, it is another five years of training. This is something truly unique and I wanted to share this heritage with our friends and the charter guests, so perhaps they can also be inspired by this incredible work. And actually even the

embroidery materials have been specially selected for their resilience to salty air to protect them while onboard the yacht!

What does a normal day onboard Happy Me look like for you and your guests?

Husband: We really use every part of this yacht, moving from deck to deck throughout the day and even sitting on the observation foredeck when cruising at night and taking in the stars. We love to listen to classical music in the main saloon, and rock music on the middle deck, while the sundeck is where we spend most of our time. We also have the full spectrum of tenders and toys, including a 12-metre Technohull Explorer 40 tender with two Yamaha 425 hp engines that we tow behind the yacht. We decided to go for a proper tender so that we can explore hidden bays during the day, pick up guests from beaches safely and easily and tow wakeboards and water skis. We also have two of everything you could need for fun on the water; Jet Skis, e-foils, kayaks and eight bikes (just to name a few). As you can tell we really do love being outdoors and having fun, and all of these additional things are brilliant for charter guests.

If it isn’t clear from all of the above, the owners of Happy Me take real joy in their yacht, working closely with their crew of 15 years and spending as much time onboard as they can. Croatia is their top destination and the yacht spends her time when not in use in the port of Trogir near Split.

If you want to find out more about Happy Me, she is chartered exclusively with TWW Yachts from €220,000 per week.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SUPER YACHT CHARTER

A wealthy individual has a great choice in terms of luxury holiday options these days. A fully inclusive 5 or a 7* hotel, a top private villa, a luxury ocean cruise or a bespoke trip of a lifetime are just some to consider - but nothing compares to a super yacht charter. However, the process of choosing the most suitable super yacht charter is all important ...

1. SETTING YOUR BUDGET

Prices on super yachts can vary considerably. The size of any super yacht is most of the time a good pointer as to how much the charter will cost, yet this is not always the case. A 40m classic yacht is likely to cost much less than a 40m modern Sunseeker. The same is with the type of yacht, as although some gullets can be classed as super yachts, they do usually cost much less than a proper designer super yacht from well known builders such as PERINI NAVI or BENETTI. You also need to consider extra cost such as fuel, provisions, mooring fees and crew tips. We can work out with you what the total of your charter would cost and provide appropriate advice on which type and size of yacht to select.

2. DECIDING ON A DESTINATION

In some destination such as Cote d’Azur in the South of France, the Mecca of Super Yacht Charter, finding a suitable yacht is relatively easy. In more remote locations such as Thailand, Seychelles or even less frequented ones such as Croatia and those where tax arrangements make it difficult for super yacht owners to keep their yachts, for example the Balearics in Spain, selection of yachts is very limited.

3. FINALISING NUMBER OF GUESTS

Most of the time you will know the number of guests on board. The likelihood is that this number will be less than 10 adults or under circumstances the maximum will be 12. The cost of yachts which can accommodate more than 12 guests can be prohibitively expensive, and finding such boats could be very difficult. In those cases, we can recommend tandem charters. Yachts which can accommodate more than 12 guests would have to be registered under a special SOLAS regulation for ‘’cruise ships’’. Should you require such a yacht, for example the lovely O’Mega or require a less expensive boat such as Gulet Barbara, we can provide relevant information and quotes.

4. PRIORITISING ON FACILITIES IN TERMS OF MUST

HAVE AND PREFERRED

You will probably have your own set requirements in terms of what is very important to you. In terms of super yachts, this is usually well equipped master cabin, extensive range of water sports equipment, specific size of the tender or zero speed stabilizers. Whatever the requirement is, do let us know about it as we will be able to advise which super yacht will be most suitable for your charter, initially without regards to the cost, but where necessary, we can also find the perfect boat for your requirements.

5. DECIDING ON CABIN CONFIGURATION

If you are a small family, super yachts with owner’s stateroom are likely to be your first choice. With group charters, where a number of couples will sail together or where you will be taking your staff, boats with higher number of master or VIP cabins will be required. With children on board, flexible arrangements with twin cabins that are perhaps near the master cabin. Whatever the case with your charter party set up, we can provide suitable advice as to what boats will be most suitable

6. CHOOSING THE TYPE OF YACHT (MOTOR, SAIL, CATAMARAN)

For the ultimate in safety and luxury, a typical super yacht would probably be a motor yacht. They offer more space and space is indeed the ultimate luxury. However, in case you are a keen sailor, charter a super sail yacht or super catamaran, which equally can offer great space areas, is likely to be your best choice. Expedition or Explorer yachts, which are increasingly becoming the norm in all fleets, are for the serious adventures. Exploring remote Pacific atolls can indeed be done in a motor yacht or even better in a super sail yacht, but an explorer yacht, thanks to their possibilities to venture far away where seaworthiness is the key.

7. CONSIDERATION TO YOUR CHILDREN

Whatever your charter requirements, if you will have children on board, you will mostly need to consider water sports on board and entertainment facilities. We can also provide tips as to the best crews as some yachts will refuse charters with children, while others will specifically welcome them.

8. CREW REQUIREMENTS

Some super yacht charterers prefer to have no major interaction with the crew, other than with service staff during meals or captain when setting up an itinerary or arranging for the cover of expenses. In case where you require special service, either specific cuisine, access to a specific itinerary, or additional services such as a nanny, fitness trainer, chauffer or a bodyguard, we can suggest the most suitable yachts or indeed arrange specialised professionals.

9. FOOD AND DRINKS

One of the most complex issues with super yacht charter is matching the skills of the chef with the taste of the charter guests. While at times it is possible to choose the yacht on the basis of its chef, most of the time this issue will be considered only once the charter is already secured. If you wish to have a certain type of cuisine served on board, it is always best looking into this issue as soon as type and size of the boat is chosen. Where this is not possible, we can advise on providing a suitable menu suggestion, arranging a preference sheet and provisioning order in advance. This is especially important in more remote locations where access to provisions is not ready available.

10. WATERSPORTS AND TENDERS

Most super yachts will have an extensive range of relevant equipment on board. Some will also agree to put required items on board for your charter. Where the equipment on board is not suitable, we can also arrange them to be either delivered (often at no cost to you) or in case of larger, super tenders, charter a suitable one as part of the existing charter.

While we have tried to cover most of the topics that are likely to be of interest or even greatest importance for you, this list should not be seen as the final one. Issues such as flights, airport transfers, helicopters or specific itineraries and fuel costs and so many others will also be looked at or will be discussed during your booking process. We would therefore advise that you do let us know of your most important requirements, and we will look into the rest.

The Maris Culinary Discovery at Sea Series extends this, also bringing a different JRE chef aboard in a series of exclusive cultural expedition cruises which take guests on a parallel voyage of gastronomic discovery.

The mission at Swan Hellenic is not just for guests to see what others don’t, but for them to explore a taste of the extraordinary, too.

PARTNERSHIPS ENRICHING THE GUEST EXPERIENCE

Swan Hellenic’s cultural expedition cruises have always been distinguished by the company, guidance and expert lectures of famous explorers, seasoned expedition

guides and leading authorities in their fields. Now, many of the cruises are also enriched by partnerships with unique organisations to bring very different experts on board in the same way, including JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs and the SETI Institute.

Maris Culinary Discovery at Sea brings a different JRE gourmet chef aboard each in a series of exclusive cruises which take guests on a parallel voyage of gastronomic discovery. While the SETI Explore Space at Sea Series brings a different world-renowned scientist from the SETI Institute aboard each cruise to provide guests with expert insights into the history and latest discoveries in astronomy, astrophysics, astrobiology and planetary science, as well as the quest to find other forms of life within and beyond our solar system.

HOW TO RENT YOUR FIRST BOAT STEP-BY-STEP

Your first boating holiday experience should be unforgettable for the right reasons! How to choose the right boat, plan your dream voyage and be informed about every little detail is probably the key to ensure that your first boating adventure will be memorable for all the right reasons!

YOU NEED A SKIPPER

Only a person who owns a captain’s licence can charter a boat. This person is called a skipper. The skipper is so much more than a person who drives the boat and has command of it. He takes care of the safety of the boat and the whole crew, as well as lots of other duties on board. You can either be a skipper yourself, hire one or be a crew member.

* Have a captain’s licence yourself

Having your own captain’s licence means that you are able to charter sailboats and motorboats anywhere in the world.

* Hire a skipper

Having someone else in charge of taking care of the vessel and crew will make time for you to find peace, read a book, watch the sunset from your deck, spend some quality time with your family and friends. While hiring a skipper has a lot of advantages, one you will appreciate the most is probably the local expertise. Instead of exploring via your smartphone where to dine and have a drink, which beaches and bays to explore, just ask your skipper.

* Be a crew member

The one thing necessary is to do as the captain says at all times.

WHERE TO GO FOR YOUR FIRST SAIL?

A little research before sailing never hurts, as it will help you discover what each destination has to offer outside of sailing. While different waters hide different pitfalls for an inexperienced sailor, all seas have their own beauty. One main deciding factor for choosing a location is price, while others are combined with the activities you can enjoy there, along with the places to visit and sights to see. Many European sailors believe that Greece, Croatia and Italy are unique destinations as they can be easily reached by car or plane and provide numerous places to visit for lovers of historical sites, food, beaches, cycling, hiking and all the other usual activities anyone would enjoy. However, there are always many differences between the destinations, such as the ease of finding moorings and ports, which is why you should avoid choosing a destination and sailing route only according to price or interests, but also you need to bear in mind your skippering experience and crew setup. Finally, note that after a few days of sailing, stretching your legs on dry land it’s a nice thing to do!

FABULOUS FRANCE

We LOVE France and we have a deep-routed history here. English entrepreneur and journalist, Micheal Streat, founded Blue Line in 1969 – starting with just 8 boats on the Canal du Midi. Blue Line (later known as Crown Blue Line) became one of the acquired companies that came together to form Le Boat in 2007.

We now have cruising regions all over France, each with its own individual charm. And exploring them from the unique perspective of the river and canal makes them all the more special.

The UNESCO committee said: “it combines technological innovation with aesthetic, architectural and landscape design that has few parallels. This combination of engineering prowess, stunning scenery and its iconic avenues of plane trees attract thousands of visitors to the canal every year. Its green waters twist and turn through the countryside, following the contours of the land and passing by acres of vineyards, fields of sunflowers and numerous towns, villages and cities full of character and history.
