ARCTIC SUMMER SAILING AND HIKING IN SVALBARD

Discover the beauty of the Arctic wilderness from Svalbard on tall ship Noorderlicht. Prices from £1,390.00 Per Person.

Join tall ship Noorderlicht high in the Arctic Circle in the archipelago of Svalbard for a bucket list sailing holiday to remember! From iced-topped mountains and glistening glaciers to polar bears and whale watching, an adventure sailing holiday in Svalbard is the perfect destination for the adventure traveller.

Cruising through the remote and breathtaking landscapes of Svalbard aboard tall ship Noorderlicht offers an unforgettable and sustainable holiday experience. This unique adventure allows you to witness the beautiful yet fragile environment of Svalbard while minimizing the ecological impact of your journey.

SVALBARD, NORWAY

High in the Arctic circle sits the world’s most northernmost town, halfway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. Svalbard is one of Europe’s last great wildernesses, often referred to as the “land of the midnight sun” because from mid-May to late September, the archipelago has 24 hours of daylight.

With more polar bears than people, this epic terrain is not for the faint-hearted but perfect for the adventure traveller. Ice-covered fjords, colossal glaciers, and soaring mountains really hit home how wild, rugged and fragile this beautiful landscape is. Discovering Svalbard with a tall ship is by far the best and most sustainable way to see the very best of this Arctic archipelago. Svalbard has strict tourism policies in place, and travellers are unable to leave the main town of Longyearbyen without a registered guide. Noorderlicht has been given special permission to sail and explore this magical landscape with a registered guide onboard meaning guests are in safe hands at all times.

A VOYAGE LIKE NO OTHER

Below is a rough day-to-day guide of what to expect based on previous voyages but please bear in mind that all itineraries are subject to the weather. As you board, the Captain will have a better idea with updated forecasts of what you can expect from your adventure sailing holiday in Svalbard.

DAY 1: EMBARKATION IN LONGYEARBYEN

Longyearbyen is the largest inhabited settlement in Spitsbergen and the world’s most northerly inhabited town with more than 1000 inhabitants. We recommend travelling into Longyearbyen the day before you are due to join the boat as flights can often be delayed due to the Arctic fog and weather conditions. Discover the town’s fascinating history and maybe take a wildlife safari on land before joining Noorderlicht on the ‘floating pier’. You can drop luggage off during the day if needed; the floating pier is a short ten-minute shuttle or taxi ride from the airport and a short 15-minute walk into the town centre.

Once everyone is aboard, it’s a prompt 4 pm departure as the Captain cruises out of the bay while the crew show guests their cabins and gives some safety briefings and operational introductions.

The aim of the first 24 hours is usually to get as far north as possible so the boat will be travelling into the night and dropping anchor in the early hours. There is no watch system aboard so after dinner, you are free to do as you wish.

DAY 2-4

Awake to the distant noise of glaciers creaking in the midnight sun and Arctic Terns swooping the shoreline – elegant but fierce. Perhaps head ashore and explore the Dalbreen glacier before heading towards Sarstangen to watch the Walrus colony snoozing after lunch. Depending on the wind, the crew will always take the opportunity to get the sails up as often as possible, and they are always on the lookout for wildlife spots and polar bears!

Spend some time exploring Kongsfjord and enjoy breakfast surrounded by the Arctic mist, shrouding the Lilliehookbreen glacier in mystery. The cracking of the ice adds some allure for an afternoon adventure ashore. This area is mountainous terrain or “moraine”, as it is called. Moraine is the material left behind by a moving glacier made up of soil and rock. Often soft and spongy to walk on and full of geological delights and coral fossils. Explore small lakes and rocky mountains, climbing a gentle ridge to watch Arctic terns and puffins in the bay. An afternoon in front of the glacier gives those who wish the opportunity to climb the rigging, reaching the crow’s nest with impressive views of the icy bay.

Cruise through the evening to reach Mollerhamna, a small glacier bay ready for a morning walk ashore.

DAY 5

Today, you can hike ashore, exploring an old hunter’s cabin while watching fur seals lounging across the beach. There is also the chance to visit an abandoned marble mine in the afternoon before sailing through the midnight sun to harbour in the research town of Ny Alesund.

DAY 6

Those brave enough can enjoy a polar plunge on the small beach by the harbour before walking into Ny Alesund to discover the history of the polar expeditions and the scientific research they conduct here. There’s a sweet museum and small shop to explore before heading back to the boat. Perhaps spend the afternoon cruising the majestic fjords as you keep your eyes peeled for whales and polar bears. This area has a high spot rate!

DAY 7

Cross the channel to explore the island of Prins Karls Forland and the Forlandet National Park, watching seals in the bay and reindeer wandering the hills. Beachcombing and geological wonders are rich here and there’s a chance to just sit on the beach and reflect on this beautiful part of the world.

DAY 8

Today sees the last opportunity for a glacier hike before Noorderlicht makes her way back towards Longyearbyen. This glacier in Yemerbukta is quite special. It’s one of few that sits against a shoreline so you can take a walk along the edge of the glacier and up the small ridge line with stunning views back across the bay.

Spend the afternoon reflecting on your trip as you dock into Longyearbyen for your final Captains dinner on the boat. It’s an informal affair and a chance for everyone to share their photos and stories of the week together.

DAY 9

After breakfast at 8 am, you can depart the boat at 10 am. If you need to leave earlier for onward travel to the airport, please make sure to book a taxi in advance as they can get busy around flight times.

THE YACHT: S/Y NOORDERLICHT

Originally built in 1910, Noorderlicht has a colourful history and has spent much of her life sailing the Baltic Sea and exploring Svalbard. With various refits, hull extensions and rigging reconfigurations, she now sails as a graceful two-masted schooner, taking guests on sustainable adventure holidays in Svalbard.

With comfortable accommodation for up to 12 guests in private twin cabins, Noorderlicht offers guests whale watching and wildlife expeditions exploring the Arctic waters of Northern Norway & Svalbard. Her size and draft mean she can reach some of the most remote areas of Svalbard so she is a great way to discover the hidden gems that this breathtaking part of the world has to offer.

Low impact and environmental travel go hand-inhand with Noorderlicht’s ethos. Her ability to explore this part of the world is the best way to enjoy the beautiful, unspoiled nature.

In the early 90s, she was refitted to become a charter vessel, and so her accommodation below decks was given careful consideration. She has ten comfortable twin cabins that all share four bathrooms. The galley and downstairs seating area sit in the middle of the ship, with another seating area and bar in the deckhouse.

Whatever luxury break you desire, the Indian Ocean will not disappoint and what better yacht to explore it than onboard ‘Bleu De Nimes’ the extraordinary explorer yacht for charter with SuperYachtsMonaco.

Formerly a British Royal Navy degaussing vessel, BLEU DE NÎMES underwent a major conversion in 2000 when she was transformed from a navy vessel into a spacious family yacht. Carried out in Turkey and overseen by her experienced owner, this first rebuild was classified as a new construction by Lloyds and saw the creation of a brand new superstructure for BLEU DE NÎMES with yacht designer Peter Birkett keeping only the steel hull from the original vessel.

BLEU DE NÎMES’ initial conversion was then followed by a second rebuild carried out in Italy from 2016 to 2020. Overseen by Studio Nattero, during her second rebuild BLEU DE NÎMES was extended by 16 metres with the addition of four new guest cabins, two tender garages, a central stairway and a super yacht lift. This second conversion took BLEU DE NÎMES from a family yacht to an ultra-luxurious explorer yacht with a stylish Pier Vittorio Cerruti interior and accommodation for up to 28 guests across her 13 staterooms.

Guest accommodation onboard includes a stunning full-beam Owner’s suite with a private study plus his & hers dressing rooms and ensuite bathrooms, two VIP cabins, six double cabins, two triple cabins and two twin cabins each with an additional Pullman berth. BLEU DE NÎMES also has two staff cabins plus accommodation for her 23-person crew on the lower decks.

BLEU DE NÎMES’ interior is more than matched by her spacious exterior which offers guests a choice of outdoor living areas plus a touch-and-go helipad for easy transfers to shore. On the upper deck, a large dining area can seat up to 36 guests for al fresco lunches while up on the sundeck an outdoor lounge area features two spa pools. Her vast beach club offers direct access to the water when swimming or using the vast collection of toys, tenders and diving equipment.

Capable of taking you to the ends of the earth and back again, BLEU DE NÎMES sets the bar for luxury explorer yachts thanks to her sophisticated design, her long-range cruising abilities and her capacity for limitless adventure. One of the leading explorer yachts on the market today, she has been delivering a premium charter experience since her relaunch on the global market in 2020.

With an impressive range of 20 000 nautical miles at 12 knots, BLEU DE NÎMES is designed to circumnavigate the globe in absolute comfort. Equipped with a superb selection of charter amenities, onboard highlights include a superyacht lift which connects all six decks, a vast salon and cinema lounge on the main deck and a fully-equipped gym and wellness area with a sauna and massage room on the bridge deck.

ENCHANTING ECUADOR AND LIVELY COSTA RICA WITH CHARTERWORLDLUXURY YACHT CHARTER

OFF THE BEATEN TRACK

Intrepid yacht charterers and those looking for unique adventures are heading for Central and South America. Known for their rich biodiversity and breathtaking coastlines, Costa Rica and Ecuador offer the opportunity to be immersed in nature while experiencing the ultimate in luxury travel on board a superyacht.

THE ALLURE OF ECUADOR’S WILD COASTS

As one of the last true “off the beaten path” destinations, Ecuador’s coast features forests and wetlands, pristine beaches and ecological reserves plus waters and islands rich in wildlife.

Chartering a private yacht in Ecuador allows you to explore at your own pace, venturing into remote areas that are inaccessible or unknown to most. Huge numbers of Humpback whales migrate through the area between June and September, adding one of nature’s greatest spectacles to an already exciting natural environment.

As part of the onshore experience, a local guide will bring the culture, crafts, traditions and cuisine of the native communities to life. Responsible tourism that follows sustainable practices makes a positive impact on both the natural environment and indigenous settlements.

COSTA RICA: A TROPICAL PARADISE

Costa Rica, known for its “pura vida” lifestyle, is a tropical paradise that perfectly complements (no ‘the’) Ecuador’s rugged beauty. The country offers both Pacific and Caribbean coasts, with the Pacific side including the Nicoya Peninsula - a mix of serene coves and lively beach towns. Meanwhile the Gulf of Papagayo is a hotspot for diving and snorkelling, with rich marine life including manta rays, dolphins, and colourful coral reefs.

Further south, the Osa Peninsula is a haven for ecotourism and home to Corcovado National Park, where a guided tour into the rainforest, might include encounters with tapirs, jaguars and hundreds of tropical birds.

THE ULTIMATE LUXURY EXPERIENCE

Chartering a yacht in Ecuador and Costa Rica offers more than just stunning scenery; it’s a luxury experience tailored to your desires. As these destinations are more demanding, they call for specialist yachts and local knowledge to ensure guests’ safety and comfort.

Characterised by their strength, stability and space, explorer yachts also offer luxury amenities, impressive water toys and equipment, plus on-board guides, expert captains and dedicated crews.

Charter guests can even include ‘citizen science’ experiences into their itinerary where a research scientist travels on board and involves the guests in their work. Imagine the thrill for kids to help count sea-turtles, relocate tortoise hatchlings or even identify whales.

Motor yacht KONTIKI is a sturdy and stylish 34m boutique explorer yacht expertly designed and configured for exploring Ecuador and Costa Rica. With luxury accommodation for up to 18 guests in nine ensuite cabins, she offers warm and welcoming interior spaces and elegant al fresco living including a sunken jacuzzi on the sundeck. She is available for charter from US$160,000 per week plus expenses and alternates seasons between Ecuador and Costa Rica.

THE ULTIMATE EXPLORER CATAMARANS

Archipelago Expedition Yachts break the mould with it’s exceptionally engineered blue-water catamarans, offering attainable luxury while pushing the boundaries of performance.

Archipelago Expedition Yachts are equally at home crossing oceans, exploring high-latitudes, or simply taking your friends and family out for a day in the sun.

Based in Hampshire on the South Coast of England, Archipelago Expedition Yachts are designed by a closeknit team of exceptional British naval architects, and are built on the Isle of Wight: the home of world yachting.

Each yacht is built from aluminium and designed from the outset as a hybrid, ocean-capable motor catamaran, engineered to push the boundaries of capability as well as providing luxurious living space for your family and friends. Their striking appearance defies what a catamaran has been, and opens your world to all it can be.

Archipelago was founded by Dr Stephen Weatherley, a life-long sailor and boat enthusiast, who expected and wanted more… more adventure, more space, more exciting design, more sustainability, and more accessibility for those who are less able to access the traditional yachting market. He wanted to share all this with other sailors, and so Archipelago was born.

SUSTAINABILITY AND ACCESSIBILITY FOR ALL

Sustainability and a reduced environmental impact are also paramount in the philosophy of Archipelago Expedition Yachts. Aluminium has a lower environmental impact than traditional fibreglass, and has the added benefit of being able to be recycled at the end of the vessel’s life. Archipelago Expedition Yachts engineer silent running, with hybrid diesel-electric propulsion as standard. Furthermore, the Company can harvest rainwater and use solar for ultimate off-grid living. Expect more... demand more.

BESPOKE COMMISSION

Everyone’s requirements are different and so, included in the price of every Archipelago Yacht, are a number of hours of naval architecture to allow the Company to customise to your requirements.

Archipelago Expedition Yachts love nothing more than working closely with a future owner, and it’s naval architects, builders and interior specialists ensure every detail is how you want it to be. The Company encourages future owners to visit the build, and have a hands-on experience of seeing their yacht take shape. Archipelago Expedition Yachts are with you every step of the way and approach every yacht as a partnership.

Bridging the gap between performance, range and luxury accommodation, the Archipelago 47 offers the ultimate adventure. Born from the highest quality design and engineering, the Archipelago forty-seven offers ultimate performance, functionality and comfort.

From the outset the builder wanted the Archipelago 47 to feel like home. Many yachts with a high-level of sea-keeping ability are basic and functional, and lack the luxury feel of a family cruiser; the Archipelago 47 changes this. This yacht perfectly marries the functionality of an offshore cruiser - with easily accessible and serviceable systems - with the homely feel of a family cruiser. Archipelago Expedition Yachts are able to offer features that allow you to cruise for longer, whilst still maintaining the comfort for your family and friends.

BOATING SHOULDN’T JUST BE FOR THE SUMMER

Most family cruisers are totally impractical in the winter because they have not thought through this simple issue: light. You cannot safely navigate from a brightly-lit helmstation. When conditions demand, the Archipelago 47 features a unique saloon divide which allows the helm to safely navigate the boat from a dark, well-equipped wheelhouse, whilst family and friends can enjoy a warm lounge environment with underfloor heating, AV and galley, to keep them entertained and cosy on the coldest winter nights.

ARCHIPELAGO 47 MAIN FEATURES

* 25 knot Top Speed

* Accommodation for 8 guests

* A variety of propulsion options available (including hybrid and electric) depending on requirement

ARCHIPELAGO 40

The Ultimate Explorer Catamaran - Pocket Sized! Archipelago Expedition Yachts have taken it’s iconic 47, and made it that little bit smaller. Smaller engines, lower emissions, easier to berth, but with all of the capability and force needed to get you home after a day, a week, or a month on the sea.

The Archipelago 40 offers the same design philosophy as all of the Archipelago range. We want seakeeping, safety, and practicality to be at the very heart of our vessels. The Archipelago 40 offers this all in a compact form. The vessel is hugely capable with a long range, high top speed, excellent fuel economy, and the ability to sleep 6-8 people.

SILENT, SUSTAINABLE, OFF-GRID LIVING

The Archipelago 40 comes with hybrid diesel-electric propulsion as standard. With it’s shallow draft, and silent running, you can effortlessly cruise into a shallow bay, or marina without disturbing the local wildlife, or your train of thought.

FISHING, DIVING, FILMING, OR JUST RELAXING

The Archipelago 40 offers an affordable, yet incredibly capable package. The vessel can be configured to owner’s requirements, with a number of cabin layouts and the ability to take equipment for a variety of commercial or semi-commercial purposes. With a reduced beam, and a length of only 12.2m the boat will also fit in most marina finger berths.

ARCHIPELAGO 52 FLYING BRIDGE

ENJOY THE OPEN AIR

For the Archipelago 52F, the Company has taken it’s phenomenal Archipelago 47, and taken it up a levelliterally!

The Archipelago 52 is based on the outstanding hullform of the Archipelago 47, but has been lengthened to allow more room in the saloon and bedrooms. Alongside this they have added a little more beam. This results in a high-performance vessel that offers a little more versatility with the ability to helm in the elements as well as inside.

We all know that sailors enjoy being outside, being able to breath in the sea air through winter and summer is a freeing experience. Fo this, the Archipelago 52 features an upper helm station with rigid bimini, offering shade and protection whilst on the upper deck.

ALFRESCO ANYONE?

The Archipelago 52 can be offered with a fully integrated outdoor kitchen / bbq / dining area up on the flybridge deck, allowing entertaining on those warm summer evenings. With all this said, the Company haven’t compromised on its values: the philosophy of the vessel is the same as all of the other Archipelago yachts with seakeeping and safety paramount.

ARCHIPELAGO 63

The Archipelago 63 is the first zero-emission long-range leisure vessel on the market. Powered by bio-methanol the Archipelago 63 is capable of travelling across oceans with a zero-carbon footprint. Developed in conjunction with leading partners in the industry, the Archipelago 63 is a safe, fast, long-distance, alternative fuelled vessel which really delivers on its promises.

The Archipelago 63 offers something completely unique in the leisure market. A totally zero-carbon footprint long-range leisure vessel. Whilst the industry has made progress in electric propulsion, battery technology isn’t good enough for long-distance exploration, or in adverse weather conditions. The Archipelago 63 however offers an alternative - using methanol fuelling. Methanol is one of the “fuels of the future” for marine use and offers a safe, low-emission, alternative to diesel.

EXPLORATION SHOULDN’T LEAVE AN IMPACT

When powered by bio-methanol the 63 offers a true zero-carbon footprint alternative. Methanol is readily available via tanker delivery in most major ports and as the commercial marine industry embraces the challenges of decarbonisation we will see methanol bunkering becoming common-place.

The 63 is powered by twin direct-injection methanol engines, combined with a methanol-to-hydrogen fuel cell to power house loads.

The 63 is also available with silent, hybrid dieselelectric propulsion.

ARCHIPELAGO 80

The largest leisure vessel in the Archipelago range is The 80. Based on an award-winning hull form used extensively in the offshore wind industry, The 80 really is a go-anywhere, do-anything vessel.

With a fuel capacity of up to 20,000 litres, and a payload capacity of 16 tonnes, The 80 can be configured to carry equipment, tooling, or superyacht “toys” in all weathers and through all conditions.

This astonishing vessel is being designed in conjunction with a discerning owner who shares the same philosophy as the founder of Archipelago Yachts: he wanted more from his boating. The 80 offers the ability to travel huge distances, in comfort, and through all conditions. Whereas most vessels of this size and range would be limited to displacement speeds the 80 is capable of up to 30 knots.

WHY LEAVE YOUR LIFE BEHIND

The 80 offers the ability to carry your life with you. With a payload capacity of 16 tonnes, the vessel is capable of carrying helicopters, amphibious vehicles, submarines, sailing boats and much more. The only limit is your imagination.

EXPLORE THE ARCTIC WITH HAPAG-LLOYD CRUISES

With Hapag-Lloyd Cruises small expedition ships and Zodiacs, you will experience vast landscapes, deeply carved fjords, mighty glaciers and bizarre ice and rock formations and the Arctic wildlife at fascinating close quarters ...

When we say Arctic, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises actually mean the Arctic Ocean. This ocean is six times larger than the Mediterranean and has coastlines on the continents of Europe, Asia and America. The best travel conditions can be found in the Arctic summer from June to September. This is when the climate is mild and the animal kingdom at its richest. When it comes to an expedition cruise, bigger is not necessarily better. Hapag-Lloyd’s small, state-of-the-art cruise ships with the highest ice class for passenger

ships (PC 6) are extremely manoeuvrable and have a small draught. This means they can keep going to places where larger ships have to turn back. It also means gives them far more flexibity in line with the weather and ice conditions, offering you multiple landings a day and allowing guests more time per landing.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR AN ARCTIC CRUISE?

Cruises to the Arctic take place in the Arctic summer (i.e. between the end of May and the end of September) when the temperatures are milder and the animals are active.

There are, however, different highlights within this period. From May, the ice begins to break up and several migratory birds return to breed. Polar bears and walruses return to the coastline after the winter while seals and whales return to the water.

June to August is the main season for cruises to the Arctic. The sea has thawed far enough and a variety of animals bring the Arctic to life, including polar bears, reindeer, Arctic foxes and various species of bird such as puffins. Early summer is the time of year when these species mate, hunt and raise their young. From August, there is less sea ice, which means that the Northwest Passage, one of the last great adventures of our time, is accessible.

In September, the days become shorter and the ice begins to form again. The autumn colours bathe the Arctic in a special atmosphere, and there is a good chance of catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

EACH REGION IS A WORLD OF ADVENTURE

Greenland

Discover the home of musk oxen, reindeer and Arctic foxes. The west coast is characterised by imposing glaciers, small Inuit settlements and lush tundra. Crowned by Disko Bay, where countless icebergs drift slowly through the water. The rarely visited east coast fascinates with its remoteness, mighty mountains and the largest fjord system in the world.

Spitsbergen

Myth, magic and nautical challenge. On a flexible route determined by the extremes of nature, with luck you can observe whales, walruses and possibly the king of the Arctic from a respectful distance from the Zodiac or from the deck. Bizarre coastlines, high peaks and deep fjords provide a home for Arctic wildlife.

Canadian Arctic

In the north of the American continent lies a world of bizarre beauty - the Canadian Arctic. Shining blue ice is reflected in the winding arms of water. With a bit of luck, you can spot huge musk oxen, whales and polar bears. A reverent silence lies over the vast tundra. Past snow-covered rock, where the dramatic nature casts its spell over you, you can feel the spirit of famous pioneers everywhere.

Iceland

A world of hot and cold contrasts: bubbling springs, mighty glaciers, thundering waterfalls. Experience the unique way of life and culture of the Icelanders as well as the diverse animal kingdom. Lively puffins and other seabirds will amaze you with their flying skills. There is also a good chance of spotting majestic whales in their natural habitat.

Northwest Passage

The Northwest Passage, around 5,800 kilometres long, connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean and leads across the Arctic Ocean through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. To this day, gripping legends and sagas surround the adventure of the famous sea route. On hardly any other route are the history of exploration, the present and the future closer together.

WHAT CLOTHING DO I NEED?

Everybody experiences cold and wet conditions differently. Polar explorers of the past generally wore three layers of clothing, an approach still followed by

visitors to the region today. The innermost layer – in direct contact with the body – absorbs sweat. Thermal underwear is best for this layer. Our feet often get coldest first, so be sure to bring thick woollen socks and good insulating insoles for your rubber boots. The second layer – consisting of hard-wearing trousers and a wool or fleece jumper – keeps your body warm. The third layer protects you from wind and rain. Waterproof trousers are essential for this, as there will be light spray on Zodiac rides (travelling in expedition rubber boats). Your jacket should be made of thick, water-repellent fabric with a hood and several pockets. Mittens are better at keeping your hands warm than gloves. You will also need a warm hat. Good sunglasses will protect your eyes, and oil-based creams will protect your face and lips (look for high SPF). You will be provided with a warm parka and rubber boots on board during your cruise to save space in your luggage.

PROJECT ALUNA 127 EXPEDITION YACHT

The experience of designing and building an expedition yacht is an extremely rewarding process, allowing you to tailor every detail to your exacting requirements. Ocean Independence are experts at helping you create your dream yacht - like the Aluna 127 due to be launched during Summer 2025 ...

Yacht projects range from pre-designed and semicustom yachts, to fully custom builds that give you complete design control. Choose the length, layout and features of your yacht, while including the latest interior and exterior technology. The end result is the yacht of your dreams.

However, building your own yacht is a major investment and complex process, so you must be

confident that every aspect is being expertly managed. Ocean Independence has been involved in the yacht construction and refitting projects of some of the yachting industry’s most iconic vessels, and it’s superyacht brokers have relationships with the best shipyards globally.

Ocean Independence’ highly and multi-skilled construction team of naval architects, engineers and captains are on hand to help you navigate the complexities of how to build a yacht, and a dedicated project manager will handle every aspect of the build process expertly, from inception to launch, while allowing you full control of every detail.

Currently under construction by FDC YACHTS, the Aluna 127 is the second model of the Aluna series. She has been developed with the cooperation of FDC Yachts, Red Yacht Design and Ocean Independence. The exterior and interior design of the yacht was undertaken by Red Yacht Design, while hull and detail engineering was handled by FDC Yachts. Aluna 127 is planned to be launched in the summer of 2025, with a build time of just 20 months for this striking and distinctive yacht.

With her steel hull and aluminium superstructure, the Aluna 127 she can cruise far and wide at 11 knots and with a maximum speed of 15 knots. The most striking feature is that her superstructure is located forward, enabling guests to enjoy an exceptionally spacious aft deck.

Like her little sister Aluna 87, the Aluna 127 also has a design and function approach that can be called ‘Multi-Purpose’. While she has all the features of yachts of the same size, she can also function as a yacht support vessel with the ability to carry many toys on board.

The Aluna 127 aims to offer a different perspective to the world yacht market, both as a yacht and as a support vessel, thanks to the fact that she is a complete yacht and the selection of toys she can carry.

Aluna’s most striking exterior feature is that the superstructure is close to the bow and houses the owner’s cabin with a large private terrace, his/hers bathrooms and the wheelhouse. The fact that the superstructure is shifted forward and the high design of the bow deck make Aluna a unique yacht even for harsh sea conditions. Another feature that draws attention to exterior features is the nearly full-height windows in the salon.

Another unique feature of the Aluna 127 is that she can carry a tender up to 12 metres long on the main deck. Along with the 12m tender, two jet skis and one 5m jet tender can be carried. The Aluna 127 also allows a 4-person “touch and go” helicopter to land, thanks to the large deck area. Thereby, accessing Aluna 127 wherever she cruises is effortless.

The interiors of Aluna 127 are also an indication that yacht comfort is not compromised. This majestic yacht can host 10 + 2 guests on the lower deck in spacious and comfortable cabins while offering the owner a private terrace on the upper deck. On the stern, there is a decent sized beach club/gym area with extra space for toy storage. A workshop that will serve the yacht support vessel feature and a storage area allows all loose furniture in the open deck to be stowed away when not in use.

A separate multi-purpose lounge area is on the main deck beside the main saloon and dining area. This area can be used as a video game, TV room, or area where the owner can have private meetings.

The yacht has a crew capacity of 7+1, and crew areas are separated by a separate circulation on the lower deck forward. The crew is connected to a fully equipped galley through a comfortable crew mess.

ANTARCTICA’S UNMISSABLE SIGHTS WITH PONANT

The White Continent is a dream destination for any explorer at heart, and travellers certainly won’t be disappointed when they see it in all its splendour. Here are five highlights to experience during an Antarctic cruise ...

MINGLE WITHIN A PENGUIN COLONY IN SOUTH GEORGIA

Once a major whaling station, South Georgia is now a favourite spot for many seabirds. Among them, the king penguin is a happy resident. If you’re lucky enough to stop off at Salisbury Plain, you’ll enjoy a unique experience in the middle of a colony of no fewer than 250,000 penguins. They move around happily without regard for the few human beings who come to visit them. A unique and touching moment.

CROSSING THE ANTARCTIC CIRCLE

What does it mean when the navigational instruments show the fateful numbers ‘66°33’? You’re in the middle of Antarctica, beyond the 66th parallel! First crossed by the British explorer James Cook in 1773, it’s an integral part of the history of Antarctica. Travellers will feel a true sense of accomplishment and joy as they follow in the footsteps of the great explorers.

GET UP CLOSE TO A MAJESTIC MARINE FAUNA

From the Falkland Islands to the Antarctic Peninsula, Antarctic cruises are an opportunity for unforgettable encounters with marine mammals. It’s not uncommon to encounter many seals, including subantarctic fur seals and elephant seals, as well as killer whales. When the humpback whales arrive, it truly is the icing on the cake.

BEHOLD THE GREAT ICEBERGS

Be they tabular, blocky or pinnacled, icebergs all have a tendency to leave travellers speechless. These giants of the seas are indescribable! As majestic as they are worrying, their silhouettes rise up with the waves and plunge deep into the waters with a colourful blend of thousand shades of blue, from light turquoise to the darkest navy, all sparkling under the icy sun of Antarctica.

VISIT A UNIQUE NATURAL SANCTUARY

Little known and completely preserved, New Zealand’s subantarctic islands are among the last remaining areas completely unspoilt by human presence on the planet. Some of these little pieces of land dotted around the ocean are inaccessible and therefore totally protected from human activity. The Snares Islands, Bounty Islands, Antipodes Islands, Auckland Islands and Campbell Islands thus represent an invaluable haven of peace for the endemic species that inhabit them, including 126 bird species.
