Hello readers and welcome to Issue 7!

This will be the last issue before I compete for the title of Ms Diamond UK which I’m so excited for! I have been a finalist for over 2 years now so I can't wait to hit the stage now! We have also hit nearly £1600 for the Samaritans so thank you so much everyone for all your support you are all amazing.

This month I am also completing a Samarthon and a Bearathon to raise money for the Samaritans and my local children’s hospice, I must walk 26.5 miles over July to complete both!

I have also launched something new on Crowns and Sashes Instagram which is on Wednesdays We Wear Pink for Pageant Chit Chat there is no donation required and we use a random generator to pick our guests so keep an eye out on Instagram to keep an eye out on how to apply.

I am SO pleased to announce that I am your Miss Diamond Curve Wiltshire 2021 and I'm heading to Southport at the end of August to represent my country in one of the most inspiring and inclusive systems in UK pageantry - Miss Diamond UK. This weekend just gone has seen some amazing handovers and new Queens crowned at the Pageant Girl Weekender. Keep your eyes peeled on our Wall of Fame feature and next month's magazine for more info.

As for this month, we're jam packed (as always!) and ready and raring to bring you stories from Queens across the globe with their inspirational stories.

Hello everyone, we have another amazing issue in store for you this month. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our readers for your continued support.

Wow what a busy month!! I have been very busy continuing to prepare for the Grand Finals of UK's National Miss. I have had an incredible year fundraising for charities and so proud and very grateful to everyone who has helped me to fundraise £1230.00 Together we have made a difference. I have been busy perfecting my walks prepared and trained by the incredible Harriotte Lane The Crown Coach who I am forever grateful to for the time and support that she has given me over the last year and a half.

I am now officially packed and ready to go!! I am so looking forward to meeting everyone and spending the weekend with so many incredible friends that I have made.

Huge thank you to my mum and dad who have supported me every single day and have given me so many opportunities. I am so grateful and feel very lucky to have you as my parents. The amazing team at Crowns and Sashes have been with me every step of the way and I will make you proud! Good Luck to everyone competing this week. You are all amazing and I love you all.

July has been all about pageant preparation for our house. With me competing in my first pageant, Harriotte’s handover and all the incredible clients of The Crown Coach.

Next month we have Crown Camp back bigger and more glam than ever.

I can't wait to be spending time in my favourite place. Come say hi to me but FYI I'm not hugging just yet.

Hi everyone, I’m a very excited little Tash because I’ve finally met my sister queens, I have just got back from our queens shoot with Charlotte Clemie, and what a lovely day we all had, it was also the first time I got to meet my director Romy and her mum Andi, I think I can speak for us all saying we all had the time of our life’s, thank you so much Romy.

I have also in a joint effort raised another £100 for the Alzheimer’s society with my brother in the last month which we are really pleased with.

As well as taking part in 100 miles for Mind, so I’m feeling super fit haha, I am now packing up my suitcase for my holidays so will catch up with you all when I return.

Good luck to everyone taking part in Pageant Girl weekender I can’t wait to see how everyone does.

Interview with Dr. Sujata Kapoor

Mrs Asia Charity 2021 Mrs India Renaissance 2020 Mrs United Nations 2021 Finalist Dr Sujata Kapoor Age: 39 Years What made you enter pageants in the first place?

My first pageant was Supermom 2019 where I became 1st runner up and was bestowed with the 'Best Mother and Child Bonding' title. Supermom ignited my interest to walk the ramp and I joined Mrs India International Queen 2020.

There, I was crowned Mrs India Renaissance 2020. After that, I joined Mrs United Nations 2021. My husband, Dr Puneet Kalra, who is working as a National Disease Expert with the Sanofi Group, motivated me to join the pageant, as it was my childhood dream. Additionally, I needed a platform to unlock my hidden potential and therefore I went ahead. , I Can you tell us about your journey?

I have been crowned as Mrs India Renaissance at Mrs India International Queen 2020. For three days during the pageant, we were put on intensive training. The contestants were judged on various parameters, like the way they carry themselves, their behaviour with peers, their ability to work under pressure, punctuality, and discipline. The pageant comprised of various rounds like talent, personal interview, traditional and evening wear round. They were on the lookout for Queens who know that their crown is not on their heads, but in their soul.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

Mrs United Nations 2021 is a pageant for a cause. I am getting an opportunity to compete with contestants from across the globe. It is a very prestigious platform to showcase my talent. I am also an autism activist and looking for a platform to spread awareness about autism spectrum disorder. I could not have found a better platform to reach the world with my cause. Its aim is to create role models for the world and provide them with the opportunity to promote their platforms. It is a beautiful system that celebrates womanhood.

What's the best thing pageants have taught you?

Pageants gave a big boost to my self-esteem. They helped me to earn a lot of respect in the society and increased my confidence manifolds. They have empowered me to work more strongly for the cause I support. I have now become more health conscious and have learnt to carry myself in a much better way. Pageants have made me more confident. They have given me an opportunity to unleash my potential to the maximum and bring my true self in front of the world.

What's your pageant platform and why?

Personally, I am a chosen and hand-picked parent to a child who is on the autism spectrum. Being a parent to such a special child, I understand the challenges of special children for their parents. I am an autism activist. I am also founder and director of 'Samvednayein', which provides a platform to special children to showcase their talents, free of charge. My motto in life is to create awareness about autism and ensure that all special children can lead a life with dignity. I strive tirelessly to make the world understand that autism is not synonymous with intellectual disability and working to increase acceptance of special children in society.

What's your dream title?

Mrs United Nations 2021 If you were to win Mrs United Nations 2021, what would it mean to you and what was it like when you won previously?

The moment was very beautiful and a memory to be cherished throughout life. I look forward to more joy if I win Mrs United Nations 2021.

What's the best advice you have for fellow pageant Queens/Finalists?

I think, in the process of trying to imitate others, one loses her individuality. That's what some of the girls do in pageants. Resorting to fake stories, excuses to gain sympathy of the judges before different rounds was another one of the common mistakes I've seen. I think start preparing well in time before the pageant and believe in yourself.

There is no shortcut to success.

What have you been doing since you won your last title?

In 2020 I won Mrs India Renaissance and I used my title to promote my platform, which was acceptance, awareness, and rehabilitation of autistic children. I am going to represent India in the world finals of Mrs United Nations 2021. I am creating awareness about autism spectrum disorder through the medium of chat shows, articles in newspapers, speaking publicly and creating awareness of autism in the public platform. I have been creating videos in autism to create awareness and uploading them on my YouTube channel. Recently, I conducted a free talent show for special children. This show received a lot of accolades in the media and was well received across India.

What is your favourite ever appearance?

I run an initiative by the name of Samvednayein, which a three-pronged focus on acceptance, awareness, and rehabilitation of autistic children. Under the umbrella of that organisation, I run talent shows for special children to provide them a platform to showcase their talents, free of charge. I recently conducted the first offline show, post lockdown, for special and normal children. This show gathered a lot of appreciation and accolades from across India. I am very proud of this appearance as Mrs Asia Charity 2021.

How as the lockdown due to Covid-19 affected your pageant journey?

Covid-19 lead to the postponement of my first pageant by almost eight months. However, the positive side is that I got more time to prepare well for the pageant. The second pageant is scheduled in the month of November 2021 and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it happens with full pomp and show at its scheduled time.

What makes a good pageant role model?

The most important thing is to be a good human being. It is said that the most beautiful things in life cannot be seen but felt with heart. So, be empathetic and strive to be a good human with a pure heart. Appreciate the finer things in life. A beauty queen is one who wears a crown, not on her head, but in her soul.

What's your favourite pageant round?

Talent is my favourite round as it gives me an opportunity to unleash your potential. You get to see the creative side of people and, usually, it is an opportunity to unveil one's hidden talents.

How do you deal with pageant nerves?

The best view comes from the hardest climb. So, never quit and keep working for the things you aspire to in life. A little bit of nervousness, I think, is good as it keeps you going and gives your best but, if it gets converted into anxiety, then it may hamper your performance. Enjoy each moment in life, believe in yourself and prepare well.

Dr. Sujata Kapoor is an academician with more than a decade of teaching and research experience with premiere B schools in India. She has earned B. Com (Hons), M. Com, MBA, and PhD degrees from prestigious institutes in India. She is an avid researcher, and her research interests includes behaviour finance and corporate finance. Currently, she is serving as an Area Chair (Finance) at Jaypee Business School (JBS) and handles basic and advance courses in finance. She is also Program Director of a BBA program at JBS. She is the first Indian women to write a comprehensive textbook in Behavioural Finance. She has, to her credit, various international publications (ABDC category). She has also done path-breaking research in the field of behaviour finance. She is a model by passion, very fond of dancing, eye makeup and personal styling. She also runs a YouTube channel by the name of ‘Samvednayein’ with a good subscriber base. She has the honour of winning the national title Mrs Asia Charity 2021 and is vying for Mrs United Nations 2021. She has won the title of first runner up at Supermom 2019 and was crowned as Mrs India Renaissance at Mrs India International Queen 2020.

Personally, she is a chosen parent to a special child Visharda, who is on autism spectrum disorder. An autism activist, she is a strong believer of the phrase 'be the change you wish to see in the society'. Her motto in life is to create awareness about autism and ensure that all the special children can lead a life with dignity. She strives to make the world understand that autism is not synonymous to intellectual disability and working relentlessly to increase the acceptance of special children in the society. Interview with Carrie Flock - International Ms. East Carolina

BIO I am a proud mother of a handsome 27yr old son, that has also blessed me with a beautiful granddaughter.

After they both saw me in my first pageant, my granddaughter wanted to be in one too. She has currently competed in four pageants, won two titles and placed 1st runner up in the other two. She absolutely loves it and loves that it’s something we do together. Before pageants, I was a professional boxer from Charlotte, NC and I loved photography. If I wasn't in the ring boxing, I was outside snapping photos. I was the 1st professional female boxer out of Charlotte, NC and the 2nd out of the state of NC. My first match was in Dec 2000.

Because of my involvement with boxing, I was able to build a record with my photography by being at all the matches and getting amazing action shots. I had several images published in worldwide publications and was also one of the only female photographers at a UFC event in the Carolinas.

In 2018 I was awarded 'Most Inspirational' with NC Boxing (voted by fans). In 2019, our non-profit was awarded 'Most Inspiring Group/Organization' (voted by fans). In 2017, I was also awarded 'MVP' with Pretty Girl promotions, because of my involvement in the boxing community. In 2019, I was given the Honouree for Vegas Grand Promotions because of my presence in the boxing community.

I'm the proud granddaughter of Nascar Racing Legend Tim Flock and, just like he left a legacy, I plan on leaving one too. Being a positive role model and inspiring young girls or women is very important to me. I’m a big believer that you can be strong and beautiful, that you can wear tennis shoes one minute then throw on some heels the next. We can be whatever we set our mind to.

My name is Carrie Flock, I am 44 years young, and I am International Ms. East Carolina What made you enter pageants in the first place?

I was looking into them for my granddaughter when a close friend of mine encouraged me to enter. She was persistent that I enter and that really motivated me! So, I went for it and entered the AUS State pageant in January 2021.

Can you tell us about your pageant journey?

This is really my first year. I competed for the state title in January, winning Ms. NC AUS then I entered the IUM pageant the very next weekend (I had already signed up before AUS). I placed 2nd runner up with them. That was a learning experience for me because it was completely different then. The AUS pageant and I Free scripted everything I said and did. Afterwards I started studying more on the different pageants and how they operate or what they represent.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

As I was learning about pageants and wanted to learn more for the Ms. division, I came across International Ms. I Liked what they represented, and I wanted to take myself to the highest level I could.

What's the best thing that pageants have taught you?

'It's never losing, its learning.' That is so true in so many avenues in life. When I competed in IUM, it was exactly that! I learned so much in that competition and got to meet so many amazing young girls, that it has caused me to work harder at being my best.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

My platform is the non-profit me and my best friend have called 'Women of the Carolinas Fight Life'. We are professional and amateur combat female fighters that mentor and help young girls and women with confidence and self-love. We have outreach programs that help women mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually with their everyday challenges in life. Life takes us on a journey and, for many of us, that could be a journey full of struggles or joy. So, no matter what we are fighting through, its always more about the journey (and what took place on it) than the actual fight.

What’s your dream title?

There are currently so many great pageant systems I’ve learned about that it would be hard to choose just one, but I do have my eye on Ms. USOA What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

You must have confidence! Even when you don't feel confident, dig deep, and believe in what got you to where you are.

What was your favourite appearance?

My favourite appearance has been when I went to a televised boxing match and wore my sash and crown in support of one of the girls who helps mentor and do outreach with our non-profit. I had retired from boxing, and this was the 1st time many had seen me with my title. It was a moment of showing toughness and beauty!

What makes a good pageant role model?

I believe what makes a good pageant role model is someone who can lead, and listen, with humbleness.

Someone who wants to help others and be involved in the community. They can inspire others to be their best by also being their best.

What’s your favourite pageant round?

If a pageant has Talent, I will say that is my favourite but, if they don’t, I would say the Evening Gown. I love to spin in my dresses!

How do you deal with pageant nerves?

I like to weigh out the negatives and positives of the situation. I take a deep breath and remind myself who I am.

I am a child of the highest king, and his destiny is already laid out before me. I shake it off and tell myself 'Let’s Do This' and then I give it my best shot.

My name is Rhoslyn Lapworth, I am 20 years old, and I am currently Miss Powys 2020/21 - as well as a Miss Eco UK Finalist.

What made you enter pageants in the first place?

I have always been interested in the pageanting world - I think it is so empowering! However, I only recently gained the confidence within myself to take the plunge and enter the pageant world.

Can you tell us about your pageant journey?

Although I am currently Miss Powys 2020/21, I have not yet been able to compete on the main stage due to government restrictions, but I am very excited to be taking the stage for the first time this August for the Miss Eco UK Finals!

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

I was compelled by the promotion of strong feminist values in the Miss Eco pageant system. I am also very passionate about the preservation of the environment, especially respecting native animals/wildlife, but I’ll get more into that when I talk about my platform.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

My current platform is native preservation. I want to promote the importance of animals for the environment, especially the smaller and more forgotten animals. I want to start by encouraging people to look at their native animals more closely and even looking at small things they can do to help! For example, use natural weed killers as harmful chemicals can hurt hedgehogs.

What’s your dream title?

I would love to be crowned Miss Eco UK, or even Miss British Isles, as I am due to compete in both pageants.

If you were to win, what would it mean to you?

Obviously, the main goal is to win my pageants! It would mean so much to me if I were to win Miss Eco UK. I have so many ideas to share and promote to everyone.

What's the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

For me, personally, I've found that interacting with the other queens is a lovely experience. I've made some very good friends. But most importantly, just be yourself!

What is your favourite ever appearance?

Due to lockdown restrictions, I’ve had appeared on the main stage at a pageant yet, however, I am due to compete in August 2021 with Miss Eco UK. How has the lockdown due to Covid-19 affected your pageant journey?

Due to Covid-19, my pageants have been postponed - both pageants I am due to compete in. However, I have used this opportunity to prepare myself even more, as well as get to know some of the other pageant girls.

What makes a good pageant role model?

I personally think passion is very important! An understanding of what you're talking about and promoting positive ways of pageanting too.

How do you deal with pageant nerves?

Although I haven’t competed in a pageant yet, before a photoshoot I do a little dance beforehand to relax my nerves!

Title, name & age?

Hi! My name is Jayne Warburton and I am Miss Classic Diamond Lancashire 2021. I’m 51 years young, a mother of four amazing girls and grandma to four beautiful grandchildren.

What made you enter pageants in the first place?

I have been entering pageants since the age of three, when my Mum entered me into Little Miss Pears (yes, 48 years!). I’m still competing now; it's been a lifelong commitment. For me, I enter because of the friendships I have made and the confidence it gives you. I also enjoy being able to educate on many different subjects through social media, as pageants give you a voice and platform to be able to do that, as well as raising awareness and vital funds for various charities.

Have you competed before? If so, can you tell us about your journey?

I have had so many amazing memories because of pageants, from travelling around Israel with Mrs World for three weeks, and being baptised in the river Jordan, to planting trees with Presidents at Mrs Globe. Winning a smile makeover, visiting an orphanage, and gaining a pen pal and even milking a cow whilst visiting a dairy in Latvia! My eldest daughter Gemma and I were the first Mum and Daughter to compete against each other in the Miss Great Britain pageant in 2006 after the age limits were changed and we went on Richard and Judy to be interviewed live. I was honoured to win Mrs Commonwealth International and received the Mrs Commonwealth Eternal lifetime title on my handover for services to the system. I was the first Miss Classic British Empire and was 2nd runner up in Mrs Universe. I have competed in eight internationals over the last 20 years and am still in regular contact with many of my international pageant sisters. Pageantry has been my life and I will always be involved in some way.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

I chose to compete in Miss Diamond UK because I was made so welcome by our wonderful directors - Tina De-Bear and Danni De-Bear - and all my Diamond sisters. Tina and Danni go above and beyond to make sure we are happy and feel valued. They are so supportive and run a fair and well put together event. Nothing is ever too much trouble and I know I only have to ask if I need help from my Diamond family and they will be there. Miss Diamond UK celebrates the beauty and diversity of every woman, and they are committed to promoting positive body image.

Everyone is welcomed and accepted for who they are.

What is the best thing that pageants have taught you?

Pageants have taught me so many things. They have taught me to be confident and to know my strengths and weaknesses. They have taught me valuable people skills and to embrace every situation, good or bad, to learn and grow as a person. But the most important thing they have taught me is to have belief in myself, that I am good enough to achieve whatever I put my mind to so I can show others that if you believe and work hard you can achieve anything you want.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

I created my platform Green Queens to raise awareness of all things relating to ecological and environmental issues. I believe it is our duty to learn about the world around us in order that we may educate our children and grandchildren, to help nurture and heal our planet for generations to come. I grew up in a gardening family after my dad became head gardener at the hospital where I was born and my nan grew prize winning roses, so it's something I've always loved. I gave out seeds to anyone who wanted to take part under #plantbritain - a campaign started by Countryfile - to get people interested in gardening. I will be following up to see how they all got on. I will be posting regular updates in the Green Queen group and invite everyone to get involved. I volunteer every month at Sam’s Diamonds Garden of Hope, which was created for Sam’s Diamonds cancer charity.

What’s your dream title?

Without sounding cliche my dream title is one that allows me to promote my platform whilst being a role model for young and old alike. Diamond has everything I look for in a system, they are inclusive and very supportive to everyone, and we are all treated equally. So, it would be a dream come true if I was lucky enough to win the Classic crown and represent the Classic ladies in Regency International.

If you were to win, what would it mean to you?

If I was lucky enough to be chosen as Miss Classic Diamond UK it would mean the world to me. It would give me the voice I need to further my platform, raise more awareness and funds for our two deserving charities - The Samaritans and Wellbeing of Women - and enable me to be a positive role model to show that age is no barrier to achieving your dreams.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

Never give up and always stay true to yourself. Research the systems you are interested in and ask lots of questions to make sure it's the right one for you and that it's a reputable system. Surround yourself with positive people who inspire you. Always be respectful to your chosen system, pageant sisters, Queens, and sponsors. Remember the crown is not an accessory but a tool to be used to promote your system and values. Practice often, remember you are competing to be the best you on the day, and don't forget your blister plasters!

What have you been doing in the run up to your pageant final?

I joined Miss Diamond UK five weeks ago which only gave me 10 weeks to focus on my journey to finals. In those five weeks I have worked hard completing 78 appearances to date (both online and in person) supporting my pageant sisters with their campaigns, creating my platform Green Queens, and raising funds for our chosen charities. I've done wardrobe prep and training and am 100% focused on what I need to do to be the best me and make my family proud.

What is your favourite ever appearance?

My favourite appearance or the one that sticks in my mind is when I was in Latvia at Mrs Globe, and we were taken to visit an orphanage. The children greeted us with a beautiful folk song then came over and took us by the hand to show us where they lived. I was partnered with a boy called Yanis and he showed me his treasured picture of a car he wanted when he grew up. He drew me a lovely picture and we all spent the day with the children. They had little but they were very well cared for and so happy and it really made you grateful for everything. It is a day I will never forget.

I have had so many truly amazing experiences through pageantry and feel very humbled by many of them.

How has the lockdown due to Covid-19 affected your pageant journey?

So many things were affected by Covid-19 and not all good. When I joined Miss Diamond UK, we were still in semilockdown so appearances were limited to mainly online, which I enjoyed doing, but couldn't wait to get out into Pageant Land and see all my friends again. Being unable to mix with everyone has caused problems but on the other hand it has enabled us to get to know our pageant sisters online and support them.

What makes a good pageant role model?

A good pageant role model, for me, is dedicated, respectful to all, is supportive and who works hard to promote their system and raise awareness for various charities. They should be proactive on social media and in person as much as possible and always be true to themselves and their beliefs. They should use the crown to do this, not an accessory to keep in a box.

What’s your favourite pageant round?

I love all the rounds for different reasons. I love the interview round to be able to show who you are as a person and to show how passionate you are about your system and platform. I love the fashion round as you can be a bit sassy and playful and can express your creative side. I love the swimwear round as it makes you feel so empowered to be able to walk out in a swimsuit and show your body confidence. But, if I had to choose just one, it would be the evening wear round because, for me, it makes you feel elegant, regal and you get to showcase all the stunning gowns. I think I am just in love with pageantry full stop and how it makes people bloom into confident, eloquent, positive people.

How do you deal with pageant nerves?

Even after being in pageantry for so long, I still get nervous as, each time I step on stage, the butterflies start and the excitement builds. I think a few nerves are good to get the adrenaline going. I usually sit for a few minutes and remind myself why I am there and go over in my head the routines we have learned for on stage. Your time on stage goes so quickly, so enjoy every minute.

Interview with Miss Diamond Curve Wiltshire 2021 Lyndsay Mizen

What made you enter pageants in the first place?

I was asked by my best friend to enter my first pageant as a support to her. She didn't want to go it alone, so I applied and was amazed to be accepted! So, I kind of fell into pageantry by helping out a mate!

Have you competed before? If so, tell us about your journey.

I first competed in Miss Voluptuous UK 2017 and placed Top 10 in my first ever pageant, which apparently was unheard of at the time - I clearly had the knack. I applied for Miss Voluptuous again in 2018, but my mental health took a turn for the worst, so I deferred. I was then due to compete in Miss Voluptuous UK in 2020, but this was postponed to 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, so I competed virtually in February of this year.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

A good friend of mine, Charlotte (your faithful editor!) was already competing in Diamond, and I'd bought tickets to go and support her at finals and check our Diamond as a system. I could already see that Diamond, as a system, is massively inclusive and it's clear to see from the outside that Tina and Danni provide such a welcoming environment for contestants. I hear nothing but great things about them as directors. So, when a place was offered for key workers after someone dropped out in May, I jumped at the chance to apply for the prize draw, but wasn't lucky enough to get in. When another place came up last minute, I knew I was well enough to compete this year and just had to go for it. I'm so proud to be part of the Diamond family.

What's the best thing pageants have taught you?

That you can do anything you put your mind to if you want it enough. They've also taught me that I have the power, as an individual, to make changes in my world and make other people's lives better through the benefit of my experience. They have taught me that I have a legacy.

What's your platform and why?

My platform is mental health awareness. I live with many complex and interlinked mental health conditions, and these influence my life daily, to lesser and greater degrees. I have good and bad days, like everyone, but my bad days are often rock bottom, and my good days are often top of the world. I am medicated, so I function normally - you wouldn't know I was ill unless I told you. I hold down a steady job, I'm in a successful relationship and I manage my time and money well, but this wasn't always the case. I want to educate people about mental health, the people who live with poor mental health, how and where to get help and how to build personal resilience. I want to show people who live with mental health conditions that you can live a relatively normal life if you build up your resilience to bad times and get the help you need, whether that be medication, therapy, or in-patient treatment. There's still so much stigma attached to it that it

often costs people their own lives, often because they feel misunderstood, that they won't be listened to, or completely alone. If I save just one life from abolishing the stigma of mental health conditions helping people build themselves up and signpost them to help, then my work is done.

What's your dream title?

It would be such an honour to win the title of Miss Diamond Curve UK. It would be an absolute celebration of me as a person. I'm curvy, I'm British, but I'm also (as I've learned) a diamond that has been created by years of stress and pressure to emerge beautiful and unique. Miss Diamond Curve UK is the embodiment of me.

If you were to win, what would it mean to you?

It would mean the world to me. It would give me a stepping-stone to reach for greater heights in mental health awareness and to reach people and places to spread that message that I wouldn’t have access to otherwise. It would also give me the prestige to continue developing and launching my new initiative, The Seaweed Project, that aims to teach people the skills to develop their own resilience and become their own diamond.

What's the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

Pace yourself. Don't burn yourself out trying to win a title. It's more important that you have energy and plans for after you win that title, not before. Remember that the run up to finals is just the start to your journey. The hard work really begins when that crown is put on your head, so make sure your plans are sustainable.

What have you been doing in the run up to your pageant final?

It's not long until my finals and I was only accepted four weeks beforehand, so I'll be doing all I can to get as many appearances in before that weekend! I have lots of press plans to put into place and lots of volunteer work/community work planned, but I need to wait for my sash to arrive before I can really get stuck in. In the meantime, I've been working on the Crowns & Sashes magazine to boost the profile of the worldwide pageant community and queens across the globe. I've also been working on setting up my own charitable foundation to help people combat mental health issues by building up their own personal resilience framework. Watch this space on that one!

What is your favourite ever appearance?

My favourite ever appearance was completing a fire walk in aid of Children's Hospice South West. I like to plan my appearances to have a little something different about them and this certainly was that! I can now say that I've walked over hot coals to raise money for a fantastic cause. What an amazing evening that was, both personally and for the charity.

Meet the Cover Star - Dionne John: Mrs Somerset Galaxy

Hello there, my name is Dionne John, and I am your current Mrs Somerset Galaxy.

I am a wife to my lovely husband Adam of 13 years, and we have a beautiful nine-year-old daughter Keira who is also is your current Little Miss Atlantic UK. My pageant journey began in 2016 and I have never looked back. This is my fifth time entering the UK Galaxy pageant showing I am committed, and I never give up. I love this system and everything it stands for.

I have been on an incredible personal journey the last five years and achieved things I never thought i could do as well as raising over £9,000 for various charities I love the support and true sisterhood in pageantry, and I have made friendships that will last a lifetime. This is one of the reasons why pageantry is so special to me.

My platform is Heart Health Awareness, and this has been my platform for over three years. I did 15,000 feet skydive in 2018 raising over £1,000 for The British Heart Foundation and I have just started a new series on my YouTube channel called Make My Heart Stronger talking all things heart health with national and international guests.

My other biggest passion in life in music and I joined this and pageants together after an idea that popped into my head on the drive home from the Galaxy final last year. I wanted to write a charity single for The Christie and that’s how Pageants Got Talent was born. The single features six incredible women from different systems alongside myself. I am very excited to tell you that all the vocals are recorded, and the single will be released very soon.

A massive thank you too my husband Adam for recording the vocals and to all the incredible judges for choosing my winners.

I am also proud to be part of the Pageant Land team and interview Queens and contestants every Thursday for Queens Table live on Facebook and YouTube. I am currently doing 100 swims to raise money for the Christie, and I am happy to tell you I am at swim 70 so nearly there! I love to swim and am definitely a true water baby.

Maurah is a professional model, entrepreneur, and the current Miss Global USA. She has worked as a professional runway model for several prestigious shows such as San Juan Moda, Miami Swim Week, New York Fashion Week, and Milan Fashion Week. She was a second-round gold ticket finalist for the iconic Sports Illustrated brand in 2019 and has modelled for Maxim magazine.

A former Miss Austin America, Miss Heart of Texas USA, Miss Palm Beach USA, Miss Miami Global, Miss Florida Global, and current Miss Global USA 2021, Maurah has graced the stage of various pageant systems and is skilled at public speaking and writing.

She is the founder of Acv Gummi which is a keto apple cider vinegar gummy. She is passionate about health and fitness and focuses on always keeping a healthy body, mind, and spirit and uses that motto

Mrs Atlantic was crowned in April 2021, taking home best in fashion, swimwear, evening, and interview. Natasha’s platform is Alzheimer’s and all mental health, and she regularly takes part in fundraising for epilepsy, as she was diagnosed at age 17. Since being crowned in April, Natasha has judged a few online pageants and is really looking forward to judging the front cover competition for the magazine (that she loves being the Hostess with the Mostess for) and can’t wait to see the entries for this month.

Hannah is the current UKs National Ms Wiltshire, competing for the very first UKs National Ms title in two weeks’ time. Before this, she has represented her town, county, country, and continent within pageantry over the past 11 years, with her most memorable title being her international title of Young Miss International Spokesmodel.

Hannah is also the founder of Sparkles and Rhinestones, author of The Ultimate Pageant Handbook and Pageant Godmother, coaching a whole host of queens to reach their dreams with wins and placings, including that Best in Interview!

Hannah has judged at national and international level, so she knows what makes a winning photo! She is pleased to be judging to add another queen to the cover star Hall of Fame - like herself! 👑

I'm suffering with anxiety and finding it hard to be in big social situations at the moment. I'm booked to watch Pageant Girl and Miss International and really concerned I will have a panic attack.

Arrive early so you can get to pick your seat and see the room fill up, hopefully this will keep you feeling in control instead of walking in a busy room. I would also suggest picking a seat with you back to the wall so you can see everyone who is around you.

Make sure you let the people know who you are with so they can help if they see you feeling overwhelmed and. if you don't use them already, find a breathing exercise that works for you - they can be a great tool to use in these situations.

Here’s some information about Top of the World!

We are very excited to announce that applications for Miss & Mrs Top of the World - in all categories - are now OPEN!!

We also would like to publicly introduce our official UK-based Director, Madara Riley, in Atlantic/North-West Europe. Madara won our Plus Size category and after we watched her grow, we had no doubt that she could be perfect for this role.

But now about the pageant!! Miss & Mrs. Top of the World is a luxurious, international beauty pageant, with contestants from all over the world.

We have following categories: • Miss & Mrs. Top of the World 2021 • Miss Teen Top of the World 2021 • Miss & Mrs. Top of the World Classic 2021 • Miss & Mrs. Top of the World Plus Size 2021 We welcome ladies of all shapes, sizes and age groups. You can represent your country/region or country/region of residence.

This year unfortunately we are not able to have finals in Brazil as planned, and last year our final in Suriname was cancelled because of COVID-19. Regardless of all the hurdles, it made us stronger, and we successfully accomplished the contest online.

So, here’s what is happening. Your regional director will work with you to go over details, fees, vision and rules.

Once you’re through, your welcome pack will arrive, and you are all set for country/regional finals. You will need three images: - National costume/dress (can be modern/self-made) - Black swimsuit/cocktail dress or all white costume (depending on category) - Ball gown You will also need two images in evening wear (full length and portraits), as well as a description for your introduction.

The finals will be for three nights, where you are expected to be present or send in videos with dress and make up/hair done.

First night it is talent show (can be sent in video). The second night is your Country/Region with a presentation about the culture, country, or region you represent (can be by video). The third night is for speeches and awards, where your presence during the LIVE stream is required. You can connect to the live stream from anywhere in the world!

Your national Director will go over everything with you and will help you with any advice and your preparations.

Interview with Miss Cotswolds 2021 Rheanna Cartier

Title, name & age?

Miss Cotswolds 2021 Miss England finalist (finals in August) Rheanna Cartier - 18 years old What made you enter pageants in the first place?

At the start I thought it would just be fun. I didn’t realise how amazing pageants are. When I found out about beauty with a purpose, I shared my experience with bullying, and I am now an anti-bullying ambassador.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

To share my experience with bullying and hopefully help show people you can get over low confidence and be really confident.

What the best thing that pageants have taught you?

Confidence and that I can achieve things I put my mind to. When I first entered, I would never have thought I could do a degree and now I have been accepted by a university for a law degree.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

Anti-bullying. I wanted my platform to be authentic, so I chose something that means a lot to me.

When I was 14 years old, I experienced really bad bullying, to the point I had to move to a boarding school in Denmark on my own.

What’s your dream title?

Miss England 2021

If you were to win what would it mean to you?

I am so grateful for everything this pageant has done for me already. I would be so happy to win Miss England because I don’t want this experience to end.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

Be yourself and be proud of how far you have come.

What have you been doing since you won?

I am doing a fundraiser for Beauty with a Purpose on the 24th of June. I will be canoeing through the Cotswolds to promote my lovely area. Beauty with a Purpose raises money for disadvantaged children all around the world. When I was 14, we did a month exchange program with a school in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Beauty with a Purpose has donated to the SOS Children’s Village in Nha Trang, which acts as a centre for abandoned and neglected children. Also, a £50 million donation was made for the many underprivileged families in Hau Giang. This made me even more passionate about raising money.

What is your favourite ever appearance?

Being on BBC South because they did an amazing report on how positive pageantry is.

How has the lockdown due to Covid-19 affected your pageant journey?

The finals have been postponed to August 27th.

What makes a good pageant role model?

Someone authentic. Someone who wants to raise awareness for a worthy cause.

How do you deal with pageant nerves?

Being in the Miss England contest has completely changed my confidence.

Pure International Miss Sweetheart, Chelsea Charlton - Aged 24.

What made you enter pageants in the first place?

I've been watching my mum over the past few years, and I finally grew the confidence to enter myself.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

Watching my mum compete in the Pure Pageants made me feel so confident going into it, as everyone is so friendly, welcoming and makes you feel part of the Pure family straight away.

What the best thing that pageants have taught you (if applicable)?

Just be yourself and just feel so confident and comfortable in your own skin.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

As this was my first ever pageant, I was extremely shocked to even win anything. I want to start using my platform to promote self-confidence in all women out there. Over the last few years, I have lost around 2-3 stone and feel a million times more confident than what I was before. Training and eating healthy has such a positive impact on your physical and mental health.

What’s your dream title?

My dream title would be to win Pure International Miss and to compete in the US. What was it like when you won Pure International Sweetheart?

When I won the Sweetheart title, I was in complete and utter shock, as I went into this as my first pageant. I honestly just wanted to help boost my own confidence, learn new things and make lifelong friends - which I did.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

Just go for it and be yourself. Regardless or winning, or losing, it just brings you so much happiness.

What have you been doing since you won?

Since I won the Sweetheart title, I have been involving myself more in charity work with my mother - making donations and doing whatever I can.

What is your favourite ever appearance?

My first ever appearance will be at the UK Royal finals.

How has the lockdown due to Covid-19 affected your pageant journey?

The Pure UK pageant had a few date changes due to COVID, but we all had to wait till the safest time to participate.

2021 International United Miss Mississippi Jr Preteen Mia Bella Wilson Aged 9 What made you enter pageants in the first place?

I’ve always loved looking at pictures of pageant queens and I love the beautiful crowns! When I was six, I told my mom that I wanted to enter a pageant. She did a lot of research and found National American Miss.

They focus a lot on community service and have a no-makeup rule for girls under 12. It seemed like a good pageant to enter!

Have you competed before? If so, can you tell us about your journey?

I entered and won my first pageant when I was six. I won the title of National American Miss Mississippi Princess. I then went on to compete in the national pageant and won! I was the 2018-2019 National American Miss Princess. It was the best year of my life! I travelled all around the country meeting new friends, promoting the NAM pageant, and taking about my little brother, Noah, and autism awareness.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

I like pageants that treat contestants like family. Also, ones that place emphasis on natural beauty and beauty that comes from inside. I also like pageants that place a lot of importance on community service and giving back. The International United Miss pageant checks all the boxes for me! I feel like a member of the family and the directors really want the contestants to have fun and be our best selves. I’m excited to meet the other contestants and pageant staff at internationals in July!

What the best thing that pageants have taught you?

Confidence! I used to be quite shy, but now I have the confidence to talk to just about anyone.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

My platform is called 'Mia’s Mission: To Promote Autism Awareness and Inclusion'. My little brother, Noah, is six and autistic. He didn’t talk until two years ago. He is my best friend and I’m his voice. I want to make sure my brother, and others with autism, are accepted, understood, and included.

What’s your dream title?

Right now, it’s the 2021 International United Miss Jr Preteen title. Long-term: Miss Universe, of course!!

What was it like when you won NAM Princess and what would it mean to win 2021 IUM Jr Preteen?

When I was chosen as the 2018-2019 NAM Princess, I was shocked! It was only my second pageant (my first was my state pageant) and so I was just having fun. I didn’t put any pressure on myself to win. It was one of the best days of my life! If I were to be chosen as the 2021 IUM Jr Preteen, it would be incredible and humbling. I would love to promote this great system and help spread autism acceptance.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

Be yourself! Don’t try to be someone you are not. Don’t compare yourself to other contestants because you are amazing just the way you are! Most of all, have fun!! Enjoy the experience, make friends and be yourself!

What have you been doing in the run up to your pageant final?

I’ve spent months preparing for my pageant. I love trying on gowns and picking out my wardrobe. Most importantly, I continue my passion of helping others. I’ve volunteered hundreds of hours doing everything from feeding the homeless, helping pack emergency food boxes, autism awareness, and cleaning up illegal dump sites in the desert. I even have my annual autism awareness t-shirt fundraiser, where I design and sell t-shirts and give the profits to my brother’s autism school.

What is your favourite ever appearance?

I have so many, it’s hard to pick just one! I loved meeting Sherri Hill when I attended NY Fashion Week. I also had the opportunity to meet two of my mentors, former Miss America Cara Mund, and former Miss USA, Sarah Rose Summers!

How has the lockdown due to Covid-19 affected your pageant journey?

Fortunately, COVID really hasn’t had much of an impact on my pageant journey. I received my current title in the fall of 2020, and my international pageant will take place as scheduled in July. I did have to get creative with community service projects, since everything was closed, events were cancelled, and access to nursing homes was denied. I chalked sidewalks, sent cards to nursing homes, and care packages to our servicemen and women.

What makes a good pageant role model?

Be the example! Don’t just talk about it, do it! Give back to your community, be a positive person, promote your pageant in person and in social media. Make yourself worthy of imitation. Be humble and KIND! What’s your favourite pageant round?

My favourite part of competition is interview. I love meeting people and talking about the ways I’ve served my community, as well as the autism community.

How do you deal with pageant nerves?

I just try to talk to other contestants around me to get my mind off the actual competition. I take a deep breath and tell myself that I’m going to do my best and that’s all I can do.

Can you introduce yourself to our readers?

Janet Charlton 63 years of age Pure International Classy Ms UK What made you decide to enter pageants?

I had retired from work and was getting bored and saw a local pageant on line and thought I would enter. That was about seven years ago and was called Fabulous 50. I didn’t come anywhere and didn’t enter it again until three years later, where I came third, but one of the judges was Vivienne Radfar and she lived local to me. She said that if I needed any help to get in touch. We became good friends and then, three years ago, she told me she was entering Pure and asked why I don’t enter. I did but wasn’t prepared for an international pageant and was out of my depth. Vivienne won, but I didn’t place. I entered Diamond later the same year but didn’t win anything then. Over the years, I have made some wonderful friends. The next year I entered Pure again and didn’t win a title but did win Best Photo. I entered Pure the following year, but due to COVID it got postponed and only went ahead last month (in June). There, I won Pure International Classy Ms UK. What made you decide to compete in your current system?

I like Pure, as it is a family run pageant, managed in the UK by Jayne Harris - Lifetime Queen and Matt Trayford - National Director, with the chance of completing in the USA. What have pageants taught you?

Pageants have taught me you can do anything if you put your mind to it and believe in yourself. I have made some fantastic friends over the years who have really helped me in pageant land and my private life.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

Mental illness is my platform, as it has affected me and my family throughout my life and it has affected a lot more people through lockdown. Also, I found that, when a family member is affected with mental illness, how do you deal with it, how do you help them? Do you shout? Do you go gentle? Who knows!?

So, with my doctor's practice, we are setting up a group for the partners of mental health sufferers and how to deal with their loved one's issues.

What’s your dream title?

My dream is to get Pure international title to go to the USA. So much that, as I only hold the UK title until next March, I am entering again next year and keeping my fingers crossed. I couldn’t believe when I won the Pure UK title. I just stood there and thought 'did they say my name or is it wishful thinking?'.

What was it like when you won the title of Pure International Classy Ms UK? I was shocked but, so pleased for my daughter as well. It was her first ever pageant and she won a Pure UK title as well.

Do you have any advice to fellow queens?

My best advice to fellow pageant finalists is follow your dreams and never give up. Age is just a number - go out and enjoy every minute.

What have you been doing since you won?

I am still supporting my local hospice with toiletries etc., which I try and take every month. Now pageants are starting again, we are going to support other pageants by going to one each month. We have collected toys which are going to the local hospital as well.

What makes a good pageant role model?

A good pageant role model ? How do you put that into words? Someone who is good-hearted, puts others before themself and just is good hearted. Someone who helps everyone and is always there for their friends - nothing is too much trouble.

What’s your favourite pageant round?

I love formal wear I don’t get the chance much to dress up, so I love it.

How do you deal with pageant nerves?

Nerves - I am a mess! But, when your foot hits the stage, I forget about the nerves.

I am thrilled to be crowned Miss Teenage Saskatchewan 2021!

My name is Beatrice Krasovska, and I am 18 years old.

What made you enter pageants in the first place?

My journey began as a model and actress. I instantly fell in love being on a stage and posing for the camera.

I also truly enjoy helping people in my community and in general. These millstones in my life have shaped me as a person.

The decision was done to join the pageant because I knew that it would develop my skills further. This will give me more opportunities to be deeper involved with my community, raise awareness and educate others about the important topics. It can, also, open many doors to learn and promote new and important things for individuals and the society. I should mention that this is a part of my own self-awareness and self-development.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

I will be competing for the title of Miss Teenage Canada 2021. The choice was made because it is a wonderful opportunity to meet all the amazing, passionate, and determined young ladies across Canada. This will allow me to grow as a person, learn new things and, moreover, not only the opportunity to express my opinion, but to have a positive influence on other in their life journeys.

What is your pageant platform and why?

I advocate for both peace and equality, because these two subjects are remarkably necessary in maintaining positive and productive relations. This is very important for the individual. However, it is even more crucial in relation to others, including your family, friends, communities, societies, countries - the whole world.

The World and all people - across all generations.

Peace and equality are especially vital in the current world because it makes the better environment for all people across generations, giving future generations much better opportunities.

What’s your dream title?

My dream title would have to be Miss World. However, I would be extremely happy to be a delegate in any pageant because it will be a fantastic opportunity, memory, and achievement.

If you were to win, what would it mean to you?

Winning Miss Teenage Canada 2021 is a huge responsibility. If this happens, I will become a role model and as a title holder I would use my current social media platforms to market this pageant to show other girls how awesome it is. I would love to empower youth and educate them about Peace and Equality. I would, also, use this title to raise awareness and help others. It would be incredible to win, and it is very important to me. It would mean that I made a difference and accomplished one of my goals.

What have you been doing in the run up to your pageant final?

I have enjoyed my pageant journey this far and have been doing many things to prepare. Including raising money for Make a Wish Foundation by collecting recycling like glass and plastic bottles in my neighbourhood to exchange for money. I also taught acting and modelling classes for children to donate the money to Make a Wish Foundation. I have been active on social media promoting Peace and Equality and raising awareness about important topics. As well as finding sponsorship, in this difficult economic environment due to Covid-19, I have been promoting and supporting local/small businesses on social media.

How has the lockdown, due to Covid-19, affected your pageant journey?

The lockdown has majorly affected my pageant journey. Unfortunately, many public events and gatherings were cancelled, which prevented my ability to fully participate and promote important topics. It is also very difficult to organise charity events and volunteer work. I had to put on hold my volunteer job, which I had been doing for more than one and a half years, in the local elementary school. During this tough time, I understand that Covid-19 has also affected small businesses. Therefore, I am trying, on my social media accounts, to promote local businesses in my city. I am grateful to have the opportunity to participate in Miss Teen Canada 2021 whilst following Covid-19 precautions.

What makes a good pageant role model?

A good pageant role model includes personality traits such as confidence, a positive mindset, kindness, patience, hard work, respect, and readiness to help others. They should be proud of the area they are representing, passionate to promote topics that need awareness. Moreover, it is very important to be active in the community and in social media.

Interview with Miss Teen Charm Cuba Angelina Asbert

Title: Miss Teen Charm Cuba Name: Angelina Asbert Age: 16 What made you enter pageants in the first place?

I had been modelling since the age of 9, doing photoshoots and runways. Many of the events that I attended I would see beauty queens and I always dreamed of being in Miss Universe and I felt inspired to prepare myself to take part in a pageant.

Have you competed before? If so, can you tell us about your journey?

Before my current title I competed in three times in the previous years. I hold the titles of Miss Jr South Florida 2018, Miss Perfect Glamour International 2019, and Senorita Teen Cuba 2020. My first-time competing was in 2018, my biggest achievement till this today because I know that all the time I spent practicing was all worth it. My most recent pageant was in 2020, and although the pandemic has made the year a little difficult, I am attending all the events I can and making the best of it. I also have been crowned Miss Teen Charm Cuba to stand for Cuba in an international pageant in Colombia.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

I have known about my current system for many years, and I always admired how honest and professional they are. They always attended events and activities, and the director is one the kindest people I have ever met, so without doubt I knew that I wanted to compete in their pageant What is the best thing that pageants have taught you?

Pageants have taught me to project myself better, I've always been timid, and I was used to keeping to myself.

Participating in pageants have made me more confident to speak and express myself.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

My platform is gun awareness, I lost a close friend late 2019 due to a drive-by and I decided to use my platform to express myself and educate on the violence and danger of guns, to create awareness.

What’s your dream title?

Everyone's dream title is to be Miss Universe, I'd love to also but it's not my dream. My dream is to one day be able to represent Cuba in Miss Universe.

If you were to win, what would it mean to you?

Cuba does not take part in Miss Universe, seeing them there would mean everything to me and being able to represent Cuba would be the biggest achievement for me and the Cuban community.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

The best advice I can give is, be yourself and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. There will be people who will try to tear you down and you must keep your head up. It's better to stand out than fit in.

What is your favourite ever appearance?

It's hard to decide, I've enjoyed all my appearance, but I’d say giving Christmas gifts to the children at the Ronald McDonald House and the Christmas parade. I love the energy and spirit there is in December once Christmas is going around, my favourite part of the year.

How has the lockdown due to Covid-19 affected your pageant journey? / Has your reign been extended due to Covid-19?

The pandemic has affected my current reign (Senorita Teen Cuba 2020) extremely. Due to the fact that people cannot be in big groups because of social distancing, all parades have been cancelled or postponed, as well as fundraisers and festivals. My reign was also extended so we can be able to enjoy more of our year.

What makes a good pageant role model?

Someone who is optimistic and fearless, a person who stays committed and positive to their goals and inspires younger generations.

How do you deal with pageant nerves?

I deal with pageant nervousness by thinking positive and thinking on how my mom is out there waiting for me to give my all. I sometimes walk a little and breathe.

Interview with Georgia Newcombe Miss Diamond Leicester

What made you enter pageants in the first place?

I first entered pageants after being scouted for Miss England. I had never heard of pageants in the UK, I'd only ever heard of Toddlers and Tiaras, so I investigated it and entered. I won Miss Hinckley, and won my place in the quarter finals, which I then won, and got to go to the semi-finals. For my first pageant I was so overwhelmed, and I caught the pageant bug! Here I am now competing for Miss Diamond UK. What made you decide to compete in your current system?

I went to watch the Miss Diamond Finals back in 2018 to support the beautiful Natalie Nason - who ended up winning Miss Diamond UK 2018! I felt the love for the system and how it felt like such a family, but I was already contracted to a system. Once I wasn't contracted, I then decided to sign up for Diamond, and here I am two years later thanks to COVID-19. I have some close friendships with the current reigning queens too.

What the best thing that pageants have taught you?

Pageants have taught me that I can achieve anything that I put my mind to. Throughout my time of competing, I have faced my own struggles, but I have worked my way through them and came out stronger at the other end. Pageants have also taught me that to achieve great things, you persevere to see a positive outcome.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

My pageant platform is educating children and young adults about the importance of having a healthy heart. In 2019 I was diagnosed with a hidden heart condition called SVT. This affected me so much as it limited me to things I couldn't do. I had an operation on my heart, and this was successful until recently. With my platform I had a successful campaign #GoRedForTheHeart which reached an international audience. I have also been in local, national, and international newspapers talking about my heart, as well as 2 radio interviews. I have also got a charity pageant planned online to raise money for defibrillators in my local community.

What’s your dream title?

My dream title is Miss Regency International.

If you were to win, what would it mean to you?

If I were to win Miss Diamond UK in August, there will be a mixture of emotions. It would mean so much as I have worked so hard for the past two years achieving things, I never thought would be possible. If I do win, I already have so much planned and things under wraps that I just can't wait to share!

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

Work hard! There is no better feeling than seeing all the things you've achieved over the time as a finalist. Enjoy every moment because the time as a finalist and on stage happens so quickly. Make sure you feel confident in your outfits, and outfits don't have to be expensive!

What have you been doing in the run up to your pageant final?

I have been SUPER busy in the lead up to the Miss Diamond UK Finals. As I have been a finalist for over 2 years, I was fortunate to be able to do a lot of Iive appearances and my own events. I held Miss Notts beauty back in 2019 with two of my Diamond sisters. I also held the Ultimate Pageant PJ Party with Chloe Adkin. I also judged lots of live pageants!

Then COVID-19 hit which meant adapting to online appearances - but this made me want to continue working hard. I held online charity pageants every single month from March 2020, and I also have interviewed over 50 pageant finalists/queens. As well as this I have been taking part in online campaigns that I can spread awareness about, whilst also promoting my own platform of healthy hearts.

What is your favourite ever appearance?

My favourite appearance to date would be my first event Miss Notts Beauty. It was amazing to see all the hard work come together, and it was even better to see so many different pageant girls from other systems attend to show their support. We raised £500 which was split between the 3 of us for the Samaritans and Wellbeing of Women, and I am so proud of the first event I held!

How has the lockdown due to Covid-19 affected your pageant journey?

COVID-19 has made my time as a finalist a lot longer than usual! Although not being able to get out into the community has been difficult. It’s also meant I can spend more time expanding my platform. COVID-19 was how I did a lot of my fundraising, as it moved to online events/appearances - so I am grateful in a way! Of course, we had extra time to prepare too, which is always a bonus!

What makes a good pageant role model?

Being a good pageant role model, you must show passion in what you do. Work hard and show others that hard work always pays off.

What’s your favourite pageant round?

My favourite round is fashion! It's the round I'm most confident in, I can show sass and I just love my outfits that I wear competing in fashion!

I always loved pageantry, since I was at very young age, but never had the chance to enter as I was thinking I was too short for it. Until I grew up, got married and have my own family. In 2016, I joined a charity pageant in my workplace where we had to raise funds for our own charity of choice. It was my very first ever charity pageant and I was blessed to win the title. Since then, it gave me the idea that I can do more and use my title, while doing the one I love and helping charities. So, I tried to search a system that accepts married women.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

After competing for a National Title, i.e., Ireland Pageants, it is my dream to pursue my pageant journey and experience it internationally. I chose Galaxy Pageants as this is a system for young girls and up including married women, emphasising beauty, style, and cultural appreciation. The Galaxy International Pageant is a personal development opportunity for women of all nations. The pageant affords each delegate the opportunity to grow and advance her personal and career goals while acting as a role model in her community. I am so blessed to be part of Galaxy Family, through this, I am using my title to continue working with my advocacy which is to promote health and helping others in my community and society via fundraising for various charity bodies.

What the best thing that pageants have taught you?

Best things that I’ve learned in pageantry are as follows: • CONFIDENCE • Believing in myself and Self Awareness • Friendship • Sisterhood What’s your pageant platform and why?

My platform is always to help others and/or my community/society through charity fundraising. I do fundraise for various charities, but my main charity is the Mater Foundation, the charity body of the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin where I work. Promoting health awareness is also one of my advocacies. I also like to do challenges at the same time such as marathons, 100 miles in a month, 2000 squats and so on. In that sense, I am making a campaign to be fit and active, which is very important, especially nowadays that technology is everywhere.

What’s your dream title?

My dream title is to be a nurse. Since I was a little girl, I always wanted to be one and now that I am a nurse by profession, I always work with compassion, dignity, and respect to our patients. But, when it comes to pageantry, one of my biggest dreams is to become a Galaxy Girl. I will thank God for making me one of them.

If you were to win what it would mean to you?

Being the reigning Mrs. Galaxy Ireland means the world to me already. How much more blessed would I be to win the title of Mrs. Galaxy (at Galaxy Internationals)?! I will be the happiest woman, wife, mother, sister, in the whole world! And rest assured, I will never get tired to work harder to represent the system and myself. I will continue helping others and various charities using my title to promote my system and be the best version of myself to empower and inspire men and women that pageantry is for everyone regardless of age, size, and ethnicity.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

The best advice I can give to my fellow pageant queens and finalists is just to be YOURSELF. You will be more confident for just simply being YOU. What have you been doing in the run up to your pageant final?

I have been so busy helping various charities via fundraising. I have been a contributor or a ‘published co-author’ of the book 'Treasure' Stories of Covid-19 Lockdown Vol.2. I’ve also done an interview and featured at the Philippine Consulate in Dublin. I am also taking part and supporting many campaigns and charities by my pageant queens/sisters here in Ireland and overseas.

What is your favourite ever appearance?

Mostly my appearances are all about charities and I love them all so far. Here are the best three: • Attending and helping the organiser of a charity fashion show where I was one of the models at the same time.

• Doing a 100Miles In a Month Challenge for the Mater Foundation—I have done it thrice already raising to nearly €1K… and I’ll be doing it again for the 4th time next month.

• And last but not the least, I’ve done the very first Ireland Pageants Dublin Heat together with my friends as part of my project being Mrs. Ireland 2020 with the permission of Ms. Jennie Lynch and used Mater Foundation as our charity where we raised €1600.

How has the lockdown due to Covid-19 affected your pageant journey?

Covid-19 has done a lot of things to all of us: • In pageantry, our Internationals has been postponed to next summer of 2022. Having said that, I am happy it was moved so we can have more time to prepare and do more appearances to promote the system (Galaxy Pageants) and my title via doing more charity works as well as attending important events if there is.

• In my personal life, to experience the lockdown. I can honestly say, as an individual and a family, we made the best of the experience and came through it stronger and closer.

What makes a good pageant role model?

For me, a good pageant role model is inspiring, empowering, accommodating and kind to everyone she meets. How you treat others is the biggest thing they will remember about you.

What’s your favourite pageant round?

My favourite pageant round must be fashion wear. This allows me to show my personality - the 'jolly and carefree' side of me. I’m like a bird - so happy to be out of the cage wearing my favourite dress, my style.

How do you deal with pageant nerves?

Deep breath…and tell myself 'Just be You, this is your chance to show who you are and what you love to do” and off I go to the stage.

Crowns & Sashes Editor Wins Covid Pageant Award Our editor, Charlotte Lister, who is also the current Ms Diamond South Yorkshire, has won Senior Covid Queen 👑 which was an online event to celebrate achievements over the 2020/2021 lockdowns This was arranged by Anouska Black - Royal UK Ms United Kingdom. There was several age categories and also some amazing prizes from the following sponsors: Beauty Belle IE Polished London Daisy Max by Zoe Saltire Couture Sparkle Accessories Lockdown has been incredibly challenging, but Charlotte continued to fundraise for Samaritans, as well as other charities, as well as continuing to bring the national and international pageant community through Crowns & Sashes Magazine. To date, she has raised over £1500 for Samaritans.

#keepyourpetintheshade Campaign by Classic Miss Diamond Kent - Julie-Ann Rosser During the warmer weather a campaign was launched by Classic Miss Diamond Kent, Julie-Ann Rosser. A pet owner of a 13 year old Black Labrador Retriever called Oreo, Julie -Ann put the call out for others to join her in the raising of awareness of keeping our fur babies( pets) in the shade.

Having a Pet is a huge responsibility not only do we need to feed them, water them, help them develop through play and keep them well through exercise , we must also keep them safe in the heat.

All Animals need shade, Cats, Dogs, all domestic Animals and those whom we may not immediately think of such as Horses.

To lose a Pet is traumatic and to see them suffer is something etched in our minds forever, so to take precautions is not just about inoculating and health checks and microchipping it is also about safety. Heat safety is vital. With the effects of global warming showing more extreme heats we need to help prevent heatstroke in our fur babies. Help your best friend keep their cool and enjoy Summer with a bit of knowledge and a backup plan. As long as you take into consideration the following rules, both you and your pet can enjoy the Summer safely: * Have a cool, well-ventilated space for your pet. Good ventilation is critical because many animals lose heat by panting (evaporative cooling) which relies on good air flow. Outdoor pets should also always have access to shade. * All pets should have access to plenty of fresh clean drinking water at all times. * Never leave your pet in a car as temperatures rise extremely quickly even on mild temperature days and can kill pets rapidly. * Avoid exercising animals in hot weather. * Avoid hot sand, concrete, asphalt areas or any other areas where heat is reflected and there is no access to shade. * Be aware of the symptoms and look out for the signs in your pet. These include: * Panting which increases as heatstroke progresses * Drooling, salivating * Agitation, restlessness * Very red or pale gums * Bright red tongue * Increased heart rate * Breathing distress * Vomiting Diarrhoea (possibly with blood) * Signs of mental confusion, delirium * Dizziness, staggering * Lethargy, weakness * Muscle tremors * Seizures * Collapsing and lying down * Little to no urine production * Coma

If you suspect your pet has heatstroke or they are showing signs of heatstroke, know how to do Emergency First Aid at home. Initial emergency treatment at home should aim to normalise body temperature: * Remove your pet from the hot environment immediately. * Apply or spray tepid/cool water onto the animal’s fur and skin. Then apply a fan/fanning to maximise heat loss. * Wetting down the area around your pet can also help. * Don’t use ice-cold water or ice as this may worsen the problem. * Then take your pet to the nearest Veterinarian immediately. * Heatstroke is an emergency – always see a vet. Even if your pet looks like they may be recovering, or you just suspect they might have heatstroke they should still always be checked by a vet.

How do vets help pets with heatstroke?

Vets are trained to assess the severity of the heatstroke and then provide emergency medical treatment as required. They will check your pet’s body temperature and vital signs and then instigate emergency treatment which may include: * Putting your pet on a drip (intravenous fluids) * Cooling treatments e.g. cooling enemas * Supplemental oxygen * Medication as required * Blood tests to check organ function * Ongoing monitoring and treatment as required What are other predisposing factors for heatstroke?

All animals are susceptible to heatstroke, so owners need to make sure that they take active steps to prevent it.

However, some other reported predisposing factors can include: * Obesity * Brachycephalic anatomy (flat-faced breeds) such as Pugs, English bulldogs, French bulldogs, Persian and Himalayan cats, among others * Breathing difficulties/respiratory disease – laryngeal paralysis, collapsing trachea * Heart problems/Cardiovascular disease * Neurological disease * Age extremes (young or old) * Thick/long hair coat – e.g. long haired breeds * Excessive exercise * Dehydration How to tell if a cat is suffering from heatstroke?

Did you know that cats are thought to have evolved from desert animals? This may be why some cats have a propensity to drink minimal water, so dehydration is a big risk in Summer. Many people are aware of heatstroke in dogs but in cats it is less obvious.

The signs are like those in Dogs and can include: Panting which can increase the heatstroke, drooling, salivating and agitation which can be excessive pacing.

Bright red tongue. Very red or pale gums, breathing distress or increased heart rate. Vomiting and diarrhoea can also occur, with the possibility of blood. Signs of mental confusion and delirium and dizziness and staggering can also happen.

Seizures and muscle weakness and tremors can happen too, and collapse and lying down and little or no Urine output and then Coma. All of these are distressing symptoms and if seen emergency first aid should be given and veterinary attention sought.

What to do if you see any of these signs: Remove your pet from the hot environment and then apply cool / tepid water via a spray onto the fur and skin of the animal. Then use a fan to fan the fur baby to cool him/her. Wetting down the area your Pet is in can also help maximise heat loss cool down your fur baby. Never use ice cubes or ice-cold water as this can make the situation worse for your pet. Take your Pet to the Vets where they will administer First aid treatment which could involve placing your Pet on a drip and Oxygen and medication and monitoring them to get them back to health. Now is the time to act, spread the word and remember no Dog died for missing a walk, but they can die from heatstroke. Always make sure your animal has plenty of Water and keep them in the shade, if you must walk them, then do so when it is cooler first thing in the morning and last thing at night never during midday when it is hottest.

Keep your Pet in the shade never leave them in Cars alone and if you see a dog left in a car it is an emergency ring 999.

Dr. World 2021, Angel Bhathal, 35 What made you enter pageants in the first place?

20 years ago, I decided to enter my first Teen pageant and it started out as an opportunity to live a dream and to have fun. Growing older and living through each pageantry phase as a teen, Miss, Ms, and now as a Dr. gave me a purpose to be active in pageantry to be a well-rounded version of myself.

What made you decide to compete in your current system?

I decided to compete in Dr. World as a friend of mine had referred me to the pageant as it is a unique pageant for women with their accredited Doctorates! Education and mentorship are core values of the pageant, which are aligned with my own personal values.

What the best thing that pageants have taught you?

The most important thing that pageants have taught me is to always have self-belief in yourself.

What’s your pageant platform and why?

My platform is to break the gender literacy gap globally. Education is a fundamental necessity for all women and girls which enables them out of poverty and allows them to thrive in society.

What’s your dream title?

I am currently in my dream title, a title that celebrates beauty, intelligence, and mentorship.

What was it like when you won?

I won my pageant virtually during a pandemic; therefore, I did not get to experience an in-person coronation. However, I did experience an intimate coronation organized by my dear friend Sindy with some close friends in Toronto. I was showered with a parade of floral bouquets sent from my pageant director and women I mentored across Canada! It was very special.

What’s the best advice you have for fellow pageant queens/finalists?

Do not compare yourself to anyone. You are your own person: unique, beautiful, and special - never forget that.

What have you been doing since you won?

I have participated in photoshoots, a media interview with the news, virtual interviews in Australia, India, the Philippines, and the USA. Additionally, I had an opportunity to judge a virtual pageant. In addition, I also collaboratively organized a charity fundraiser for Because I am a Girl Initiative where proceeds were donated to provide girls with equal access to education globally.

What is your favourite ever appearance?

My favourite appearance is when I visited the Inkster Elementary school to teach the students about Operation Smile, as well as cleft lip and cleft palate. Through my time with the students, I was able to inspire them to become philanthropists and join me in participating in a charity Book and Toy drive to raise funds for 3 life changing surgeries with Operation Smile. Although children are the least financially established demographic of individuals, their generosity to donate their favourite books and toys to help other children was inspiring.

How has the lockdown due to Covid-19 affected your pageant journey? / Has your reign been extended due to Covid-19?

My reign has not been extended but the lock down did impact my ability to do live appearances. I was, however, able to initiate several virtual interviews and podcasts from around the world during my reign.

What makes a good pageant role model?

Someone who is a sound leader while being open minded and inclusive of others.

What’s your favourite pageant round?

Swimsuit.

How do you deal with pageant nerves?

I transform my nerves into excitement! Adrenaline can be used positively to allow you to be in the moment and enjoy every minute of the process.
