The primary motivation behind this project was inclusivity and accessibility. I envisioned a pavilion that could cater to everyone, including individuals with special needs, such as those who use wheelchairs. It was essential to me that this space could be enjoyed by people of all abilities.

HARMONY HEAVEN PAVILION

PRECEDENT STUDY

While studying the Ginga Pavilion, inspiration is drawn from its design elements. Drawn particularly to the way vertical and horizontal wooden sticks INTERLOCK, creating a sense of cohesion. Observed how the pavilion appears to float in the air, supported by cables and the intricate woodstick interplay. The central lamp in the Ginga Pavilion symbolizes HARMONY, and explored that side.

This pavilion was inspired by Ginga Pavilion, but it goes beyond inspiration, aiming to create a space that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly ACCESSIBLE and versatile.

One of the key features of this pavilion is its DUAL FUNCTIONALITY. On the one hand, it serves as an elevated platform, offering visitors a breathtaking view of the serene water body in Burnet Woods. This upper section provides an opportunity for relaxation and contemplation, allowing people to connect with nature in a unique way.

ITERATION

On the other hand, the ground level of the pavilion is designed to be a versatile performance space. Here, visitors can gather for various activities, from small scale performances and community events to simply sitting and enjoying the surroundings. This flexible design ensures that the pavilion can adapt to the evolving needs of the community.

The concept of hierarchy in this design exercise serves to guide the viewer’s perception and understanding of the composition. It creates a deliberate and structured arrangement that conveys a sense of balance and order while allowing for creative expression and exploration of materials.

CONSTRUCTED SOLIDS

By strategically applying hierarchy to elements, materials, and spatial relationships, the design achieves a harmonious synthesis of contrasting elements and ideas, making the final composition visually engaging and conceptually rich.

The resulting structure comprises a plaster cube and an inserted wooden component. To convey the concept of HIERARCHY, both the plaster cube and the voids will initiate from one point and terminate at another, highlighting a sense of CONTINUITY.

The task at hand involves the creation of both an analysis drawing and a digital drawing based on a digital collage constructed, inspired by one of the stories from The Lost Cities. The focus is on the Beersheba story, which portrays a celestial city in heaven, known for its opulence with everything made of gold and gems. This city starkly contrasts with another city on the verge of breaking, suffering from deteriorating conditions.

LOST CITIES

ANALOG ANALYSIS

For the collage, the aim is to visually represent these polar opposites by designing two cities facing opposite directions. The celestial city above exudes brightness, emphasizing the REFLECTION of light off the gold and jewels that adorn it. On the other hand, the city on the brink of collapse is depicted as dark and in disarray, with stones crumbling and polluted water flowing through its streets.

Regarding the analog analysis component, the task involves exploring LINE WEIGHT and BLIND-CONTOUR TECHNIQUES.

DIGITAL ANALYSIS

In the digital analysis phase, the tasks include working on HATCHING and lines, as well as examining figure-ground relationships. The approach to hatches and lines involves the creation of a metallic appearance to convey a sense of solidity for the city above.

As for the figure-ground relationship, both cities are rendered in white. This choice is influenced by the predominant use of bold black colors in the original collage. The intention is to draw attention to the OUTLINES and lighter areas of the cities, enabling them to stand out

The summer internship at Ankur & Sarvesh completed from May to July 2023. During this period, the responsibilities include space planning, furniture arrangement, rendering, and the creation of mood boards. This internship offers valable hands-on experience and insights into the practical aspects of the field, facilitating active contribution to various projects and the ongoing development of skills in the realm of interior design and architecture. On the left side is a project in which active participation encompassed rendering, documentation, mood board development, and text preparation.

PROJECT WORK

Displayed above are the conclusive architectural plans for two distinct RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS.

In the first endeavor, the supervisior gave the responsibility encompassing FINAL PLANNING from the initial planning, FURNITURE LAYOUT, and subsequent modifications until it got a final approval from the supervisior and the client.

In the case of the second project, a comprehensive scope of work was executed, commencing with foundational lanning, progressing through to the finalization of plans, meticulous furniture layout, iterative MODIFICATIONS, and the production of detailed RENDERING. The elevation below is done by one of the team members at Ankur & Sarvesh.

Painting and sketching are creative expressions that allow for the exploration of various techniques, colors, and compositions. They enable the artist to convey emotions, tell stories, or capture the beauty of the world around them. Through the stroke of a brush or the precision of a pencil, a blank canvas transforms into a canvas filled with life, where every line and shade holds meaning. These timeless art forms transcend language and communicate on a profound, universal level, allowing for a shared connection between artist and audience.
