Il Futuro è adesso Sempre di più il Tarì orienta la propria strategia di sviluppo alla innovazione di tecnologie e servizi avanzati a beneficio del mondo orafo.

Expertise e investimenti le parole d’ordine di un programma che Vincenzo Giannotti – al suo secondo mandato come presidente del Centro – sintetizza in questo modo: “Sono finalmente riuscito a portare il Tarì sulla strada del futuro che ritengo obbligata, quella di un cambio di passo e di velocità.

Sono stati percorsi difficili, che hanno richiesto due visioni parallele: quella organizzativa e quella degli investimenti in innovazione.

Ma i risultati non si sono fatti attendere. Oggi il Tarì dispone di procedure e di sistemi di comunicazione rivoluzionari, e grazie agli investimenti si è potuto realizzare l’inimmaginabile. Oggi il Tarì è, tra l’altro, gestore di telefonia e internet, location di prestigio, partner affidabile di progetti internazionali.

Molte altre sfide sono in pista. Ma la principale resta sempre quella di mantenere lo sguardo puntato al futuro, senza perdere mai di vista la realtà del presente, insieme alla nostra identità."

Torna la voglia di colore e creatività Siete pronte per un 2019 a colori? Le sfilate delle Fashion Week parlano chiaro, con la primavera-estate ci sarà un’esplosione di colori e tanta voglia di rinnovarsi. È arrivato il momento di riempire i guardaroba con abiti leggeri, che quest’anno si tingono di tante sfumature nuove e brillanti.

Vestire a colori è d’obbligo: sia in total look monocromatici che divertendoci a combinare nuances inedite tra di loro.

Scopriamo insieme la palette che colorerà questa stagione calda. Living Coral è il colore dell’anno secondo Pantone: tonalità corallo caratterizzata da una forte dose di vitalità e una vibrazione dorata che infonde energia. Si tratta di un colore vivace, ma allo stesso tempo tenue, in grado di comunicare calore, ma anche un invito a prendere la vita con leggerezza. Living Coral ricorda la barriera corallina, e natural-

mente le sfumature del tramonto; è una tonalità calda ed estiva perfetta per essere indossata da sola e di grande impatto se abbinata all’azzurro, altro grande protagonista di questa primavera.

L’unione tra questi due colori è un connubio femminile e fresco, davvero glam. Meravigliosi e di grande effetto anche gli abbinamenti del colore dell’anno Living Coral con argento, crema, verde militare, bianco e oro.

L’amore per l’azzurro non ha intenzione di sfumare: fresco, leggero, versatile, questo colore ci conquisterà con la sua portabilità. Scandito in mille declinazioni, l’azzurro riesce ad incantare in ognuna di esse, dal celeste pallido e tenue, fino alle tonalità più intense e quasi cupe.

Tra i colori più trendy dell’anno c’è anche il greenery, che abbraccia tutte le sfumature che vanno dal verde bosco, allo smeraldo scuro, dalla giada e al salvia. Naturalmente il greenery si ispira alla giada, ed è frizzante, ideale per regalare un twist di freschezza al nostro armadio. Elegantissimo e intenso se indossato in un total look, il verde scuro è perfetto per i party look più chic e ricercati.

Il verde salvia, invece, è assolutamente glam se abbinato al rosa chiaro o al bianco.

Torna in voga anche il beige con tutte le sue sfumature: dal cammello al color carne, passando per il nude, il beige torna sulle passerelle insieme a forme austere e forti che lo rendono il protagonista assoluto. Le proposte beige 2019 sono soft, luminose e soprattutto molto eleganti: il beige è da considerare un classico su cui puntare sempre.

Va benissimo abbinato al bianco, al rosa, all’azzurro ma si può anche puntare su un look monocromatico total beige e spezzarlo con un paio di scarpe colorate.

Sinonimo di estate per eccellenza, nella lista dei colori più in voga della stagione calda in arrivo non poteva di certo mancare il bianco ottico. Il total white è una carta vincente in ogni occasione: il non-colore per eccellenza non si smentisce mai in fatto di eleganza e raffinatezza. Ca-va-sans-dir è semplicissimo da abbinare, e va d’accordo con qualsiasi altra nuance, da quelle vivaci, a quelle tenui, senza dimenticare quelle neon.

Il bianco è un colore passepartout ma attenzione a non mischiare nello stesso look due tonalità di bianco diverse perché il risultato è devastante e rischiamo di assumere un aspetto trasandato.

L’inverno è ormai terminato da un pezzo e la voglia di colore si fa sempre più forte. Con le giornate che si allungano e il caldo che sta arrivando vestiamoci con i colori della natura. È il momento di osare, non perdiamo questa occasione e riempiamo il nostro armadio di colori! •

Federorafi guarda alla distribuzione Focus sul mercato domestico

Secondo i dati GFMS 2018 elaborati da Confindustria Moda per Federorafi il consumo di gioielleria in oro in Italia negli ultimi anni non ha ancora manifestato segnali di ripresa, segnando anche nel 2017 un calo del -2,3%. Sulla base delle elaborazioni effettuate dal Centro Studi di Confindustria Moda su dati ISTAT per Federorafi, nei primi 11 mesi del 2018 il settore orafo - argentiero - gioielliero assiste ad una flessione delle vendite estere nella misura del -2,8%. Molti i cambiamenti in corso, in un mercato in forte trasformazione.

Sui temi di maggiore attualità del comparto si è riunito recentemente a Firenze Il Consiglio direttivo di Federorafi, assumendo alcune importanti decisioni. Tra queste, un rinnovato impegno verso il mercato del gioiello domestico, attraverso l’avvio di un’analisi sulle dinamiche del consumatore nei confronti del gioiello made

in italy e sull’appeal in Italia dei diversi canali online/offline di commercializzazione.

In ragione di ciò è stato quindi anche deciso di creare all’interno della Federazione una specifica sezione riservata al mondo della distribuzione, al fine di incrementare i momenti di confronto e di collaborazione tra la produzione e la filiera distributiva.

La Presidente Ivana Ciabatti ha affidato la delega per coordinare questa nuova Sezione a Vincenzo Giannotti, presidente del Tarì, socio aggregato di Federorafi.

Per la Presidente Ciabatti “la decisione di Federorafi rafforza il percorso di confronto della produzione con tutte le componenti della filiera anche al fine di condividere informazioni, ricerche e strategie. In questo caso l’attenzione è rivolta alla distribuzione, un anello molto importante tra produzione e dettaglio italiano e non, che negli ultimi anni ha saputo evolversi per meglio rappresentare gli interessi commerciali delle parti. Il programma della neonata Sezione “distribuzione” di Federorafi è ambizioso, in quanto vuole raggruppare le realtà più virtuose per affrontare assieme sia gli aspetti fiscali ed amministrativi che quelli di mercato, per mettere a fattor comune le migliori pratiche e le nuove dinamiche del consumatore italiano che da sempre rappresenta un modello anticipatore di tendenze e di mode”.

“Accolgo con positività ed entusiasmo questo nuovo impegno istituzionale – dichiara il presidente Giannotti – che testimonia l’impegno di Federorafi nei confronti della grande esigenza di cambiamento e di evoluzione del nostro comparto produttivo. La distribuzione rappresenta un elemento chiave della dinamica del mercato interno, e la nuova sezione istituita dalla nostra rappresentanza nazionale evidenzia a pieno questa nuova sensibilità.

Attendiamo adesso con fiducia l’esito degli studi di settore che a breve prenderanno il via, e che sono certo daranno il proprio contributo alla nuova visione del contesto distributivo nazionale”.

“L’esperienza del Tarì - prosegue Giannotti – si alimenta ogni giorno del dialogo e del confronto tra la produzione e il mondo del dettaglio, di cui conosciamo approfonditamente punti di forza e punti di debolezza. Sono certo che anche da queste esperienze potranno nascere importanti spunti di riflessione e di crescita per il settore orafo italiano”.

I primi punti di interesse della neonata area saranno i modelli attuali e futuri di distribuzione del gioiello e l’adozione di un vademecum sulle migliori pratiche comportamentali dal punto di vista fiscale ed amministrativo, a fronte di una normativa nazionale sempre più complessa e scollegata che sta creando grande incertezza tra gli operatori del settore (legge 7/2000, antiriciclaggio, fatturazione elettronica, conto lavoro in oro, pagamenti in contanti, compro oro, licenza di P.S., tracciabilità sull’origine dell’oro, accesso al credito, prestito d’uso).•

Dall’unisex al gender fluid: è proprio la moda che ha reso superfluo il concetto di genere, all’insegna di un gusto personale che non è né maschile, né femminile. Ma può essere entrambi.

Chi pensa che vestirsi differentemente dai canoni comuni per il proprio genere sia contro natura, si imbatte in un grande fraintendimento giacché non c’è nulla di naturale nell’abbigliamento e ancor meno nei principi che diversificano i capi da uomo e quelli da donna: la moda gender neutral, attualmente in auge, esiste in realtà da sempre.

L’età vittoriana è il momento storico più conservatore dal punto di vista dei costumi, in cui i ruoli di genere si sono rafforzati e radicati profondamente. È questa l’epoca in cui la moda maschile si allontana nettamente da quella femminile, in nome del consueto principio naturalistico. Prima di questo momento uomini e donne si sono vestiti allo stesso modo, o con piccole variazioni, per secoli.

Finita l’era vittoriana ci fu una sorta di cortocircuito durante il quale i ruoli cambiarono e di conseguenza i costumi: fu introdotta la “tuta” che doveva essere realizzata con un pezzo unico di stoffa ed essere uguale per tutti, uomini e donne.

La moda reinventa codici e modelli di stile

Il resto è storia: Coco Chanel che cammina in riva al mare con i pantaloni dell’amante, Marlene Dietrich con lo smoking nel film Marocco.

Tante piccole rivoluzioni che hanno declinato la moda femminile in quella maschile, ma non viceversa.

Il termine “unisex” nasce negli anni ‘60 ed è legato agli stilisti della cosiddetta “Space Age”: Pierre Cardin, Andre Courreges e Paco Rabanne. Fa riferimento non tanto alla fluidità di genere, quanto più ad una nuova

idea di femminilità, più androgina.

Le tendenze unisex del secolo scorso, per quanto d’avanguardia, si sono concentrate di più sulla liberazione della donna: blue jeans e t-shirt sono stati semplicemente condivisi con il guardaroba maschile.

Lo stile senza genere ha un famoso pioniere, Giorgio Armani, che già a partire dagli anni Settanta ha seguito questa filosofia: «Elimino le differenze tra uomo e donna. Ho dato all’uomo la scioltezza e la morbidezza della donna, e alla donna l’eleganza e il comfort dell’uomo».

Nel 1984 Jean Paul Gaultier scandalizzò le passerelle di Parigi con la collezione “Men in Skirts” in cui gli uomini sfilarono con gonne di ogni forma e dimensione, da quelle aderenti per l’ufficio a quelle più pompose da gran soirée.

Eppure nel 2019, mentre non c’è nulla di rivoluzionario in una donna che indossa i pantaloni, ci si scandalizza se Jaden Smith indossa una minigonna nella pubblicità di Louis Vuitton.

Nelle ultime stagioni lo stilista che ha sviluppato con tenacia l’idea della moda gender free è Alessandro Michele, direttore artistico di Gucci che ha portato in passerella un tailleur pantalone di tessuto fiorato in versione per lui e per lei, con le sole differenze di taglio. Nella collezione da uomo di Burberry si sono viste camicie di pizzo da portare con la cravatta.

Il mondo del fashion si avvia sempre di più a riaffermare nuovamente il gender neutral per una moda aperta, free e inclusiva.

Sfilate miste e modelli queer hanno ormai conquistato non solo i marchi più all’avanguardia, ma anche i grandi retailer come Zara o H&M. I reparti di abbigliamento maschile e femminile diventano sempre più indistinguibili e i capi senza connotazioni di genere ottengono l’imprimatur del mainstream quando queste aziende del fast fashion lanciano le loro collezioni agender.

Le persone che non si rispecchiano nell’uno o nell’altro genere, o che più banalmente non condividono i vestiti socialmente accettati, hanno sempre di più a disposizione una grande scelta di abiti conformi a ogni tipologia di corpo e occasione.

La storia del costume ci conferma che questo non è un trend passeggero, ma una strada a cui la moda tende da sempre, in un modo o nell’altro.

Solo il pregiudizio ha sancito che gli uomini non possano indossare le gonne: i corpi sono ovviamente diversi, ma voler stabilire una volta per tutte cosa vada bene e cosa no per l’uno o per l’altro è una pretesa che non ha motivo di essere. •

Privacy Affair Quando privacy fa rima con business

La sicurezza in rete e la tutela dei propri dati è un’esigenza sempre più impellente e gli errori al riguardo ancora troppo frequenti: ecco un diktat per proteggere la nostra privacy con attenzione e consapevolezza.

Il 2018 è stato un anno piuttosto catastrofico in tema di privacy, basti pensare al caso Cambridge Analytica, alla classifica delle password più inefficaci, tra cui primeggia l’evergreen “123456”, e ad un archivio in rete di 770 milioni di email rubate.

Più di un miliardo di utenze violate in un anno: questi i dati allarmanti del 2018 che sottolineano un aumento dei cyber crimini e la necessità da parte degli utenti di prestare molta più attenzione quando navigano on line.

La celebrazione, lo scorso 28 gennaio 2019, del Data Protection Day, giornata istituita dal Consiglio d’Europa nel 2006 per incrementare la consapevolezza riguardo i pericoli del web, è un modo per sensibilizzare gli utenti sulla sicurezza in rete diffondendo le giuste attività da eseguire.

Sophos, rinomata security house, e Google, accusato più volte di essere artefice di un utilizzo non propriamente trasparente dei dati personali, si sono schierati in prima linea a favore del Data Protection Day e hanno elargito dei consigli volti ad aumentare la sicurezza individuale al cospetto dei nuovi mass media digitali.

Il punto di partenza è quello delle password: ovviamente non devono essere elementari, né utilizzate più volte, meglio prevederle con numeri, caratteri speciali, maiuscole o minuscole; è preferibile anche che siano supportate dall’autenticazione a due fattori che prevede il riconoscimento dell’utente dopo aver ricevuto un codice di conferma sul cellulare.

Attenzione a software ed applicazioni, mai installarle a cuor leggero: bisogna valutare bene che tipo di autorizzazioni sono richieste, disinstallare quelle in disuso e aggiornare di continuo quelle che si utilizzano. Quando si concede alle app pieno accesso ai propri dispositivi, gli sviluppatori hanno agevolmente modo di consultare i dati personali.

Anche con i siti è fondamentale essere oculati: meglio non iscriversi a tutte le piattaforme ed è bene anche rimuovere quegli account che non servono più. Sui social è preferibile non inserire troppe informazioni dettagliate, prediligendo una platea ristretta con cui condividere le proprie attività.

Utile anche disabilitare il GPS sullo smartphone quando non serve e non condividere gli spostamenti sui social: tutti i check dei viaggi sono il modo più efficace per far sapere ai malintenzionati quando non si è in casa.

In quanto alle webcam, soprattutto quelle sui Pc, meglio coprirle con una striscia di scotch: è stupefacente quanto sia facile fare capolino nella privacy altrui attraverso questo strumento.

Gli utenti online spesso, per distrazione, elargiscono senza rendersene assolutamente conto quello che per molti è considerata una vera e propria fonte di reddito: i dati personali sono di grande interesse per le aziende, un vero e proprio business.

Google, il motore di ricerca più usato al mondo, non è nient’altro che una porta che divide internet dalla privacy degli utenti ed è fondamentale che sia blindata con tripla mandata, perché i dati personali rappresentano un tesoro che merita di essere custodito. •

Napoli, il 5 Marzo 1787 Voglio farvi parola, almeno in breve, di un uomo distintissimo che ho conosciuto in questi giorni. Desso si è il cavaliere Filangieri, rinomato per la sua opera sulla legislazione. Egli appartiene a quella gioventù pregevolissima, la quale si propone la felicità dell’uman genere, ed una libertà temperata.

Napoli, il 17 marzo.

Mentre vorrei scrivere parole, non si presentano alla mia mente fuorchè imagini; la terra fertilissima, l’ampio mare, le isole vaporose, il monte che fuma, e non riesco a trovare espressioni, per riprodurre tutte queste bellezze meravigliose di natura….Qui gli uomini non sanno guari nulla, gli uni degli altri; non fanno altro fuorchè correre tutto il giorno sù e giù per questo paradiso, senza guardarsi attorno, e quando la voragine infernale vicina comincia romoreggiare (il Vesuvio…) cupamente, allora ricorrono al sangue di S. Gennaro, come del resto il mondo tutto ricorre, o vorrebbe potere ricorrere al sangue, per difendersi contro la morte, e contro il diavolo. [“Viaggio in Italia” Goethe]

Anche il grande scrittore tedesco Johann Wolfgang (von) Goethe, nel suo soggiorno a Napoli individuò, tra le tante facce di Napoli, le due che si ergevano preponderanti, orgogliose, sovrastanti su tutte e su tutti. La Napoli intellettuale e quella spirituale.

E se quella spirituale aveva in San Gennaro la massima espressione che affondava radici profonde nella città partenopea, Gaetano Filangieri senior, la cui fama internazionale era arrivata in ogni parte d’ Europa tanto che anche Goethe andò a fargli visita, rappresentava gli innumerevoli nomi di donne e di uomini che avevano reso Napoli una delle capitali intellettuali più importanti d’Europa. Nella seconda metà del settecento, infatti, Filangieri senior era entrato in contatto con le idee dibattute in Francia su libertà e democrazia che lo portò, dopo essersi laureato in Legge, a scrivere un’opera di valore mondiale in materia di teoria di filosofia del diritto su cui emergeva la sua idea rivoluzionaria del diritto alla felicità e da cui Benjamin Franklin trasse ispirazione per la realizzazione della costituzione americana: la Scienza della legislazione. E le numerose lettere della corrispondenza tra il grande filosofo napoletano, Filangieri senior, e uno dei Padri fondatori degli Stati Uniti d’America, sono solo alcune delle oltre tremila opere esposte, non a caso, in uno dei gioielli di Napoli: il Museo Filangieri. Suo nipote, il principe Gaetano Filangieri junior, proseguendo nella tradizione familiare fu infatti anche lui un uomo illuminato e visionario. Convinto sostenitore della funzione sociale dell’arte e della cultura, Gaetano Filangieri junior impiegò gran parte della sua vita viaggiando in Europa, in piena era di rivoluzione industriale, entrando in contatto con le più moderne esperienze del collezionismo e delle realizzazioni museali d’arte industriale, alla ricerca di splendidi e rari oggetti artistici con

l’idea precisa di trasformare l’eccellenza artistica e artigianale partenopea in un processo industriale che diventasse modello europeo. E per attuare il suo programma profuse tutto il suo impegno nella realizzazione dell’ambizioso programma di costituire un Museo artistico industriale proprio a Napoli acquisendo Palazzo Como, in pieno periodo di risanamento con lo sventramento di Napoli e la costruzione di nuove arterie, tra le quali via Duomo. Pur di non perdere la memoria rinascimentale del Palazzo decise di spostare l’edificio venti metri più indietro, allineandolo alla nuova strada. Si fece quindi carico dei complessi lavori di riadattamento del palazzo rinascimentale, promuovendo anche la ristrutturazione degli interni con l’ausilio degli allievi dell’Istituto d’arte di Napoli e vi sistemò la sua collezione, perché diventasse modello per le eccellenze partenopee artigianali, promuovendone la conversione industriale. Oggi il museo Filangieri con la sua particolare vicenda rappresenta non solo uno strumento straordinario per comprendere un importante momento della storia della città, ma anche un gioiello dove è esposta la straordinaria raccolta di capolavori quali sculture, splendidi oggetti d’arte applicata come maioliche e porcellane, abiti, tessuti, medaglie, armi ed armature e una ricca pinacoteca, con dipinti che spaziano dal XVI al XVIII secolo e offrono un’ampia visione del panorama artistico napoletano, una preziosa biblioteca e tre fondi librari donati nel corso dell’ultimo cinquantennio.

Il Filangieri Museo, considerato uno dei grandi musei di interesse nazionale, oggi è uno straordinario Palazzo d’Arte poli-culturale dove immergersi nella storia intellettuale e artistica di Napoli e confrontarsi con i più importanti siti museali europei. Un Palazzo in movimento!

Chi lo ha detto che una donna vera non può essere perfetta?

Strepitosa da bambina, incontenibile da ragazza, inarrestabile da donna, Michelle è stata la più moderna, alternativa e democratica delle first lady, e non solo della storia degli Stati Uniti d’America. Per noi donne, alla perenne ricerca di modelli femminili da indossare la mattina, si tratta decisamente di un punto di riferimento affascinante, soprattutto perché, per gran parte di

noi, è confidenziale e positivo.

Come mai? Nonostante Michelle sia una donna potente, sia in qualità di professionista che di compagna di un leader tra i più amati della storia americana, sembra davvero l’amica che tutte vorremmo avere. Semplice, elegante, sorridente, ci piace perché, nonostante la perfezione della sua vita, conserva – fortuna-

tamente- qualcosa di imperfetto.

Cos’è che rende Michelle tanto irresistibile? Quel pazzesco mix di vitalità, femminilità e determinazione che la circonda come una nebulosa. Ci sembrava di averla vista un pochino in sovrappeso?

Beh, adesso è in perfetta forma, quindi, con un po’ di impegno, anche noi riusciremo…

Elegantissima e super fashion in ogni occasione?

Si, ma alternando haute couture e abitini low cost, senza mai rinunciare ad un personalissimo charme. Il messaggio è chiaro: si può essere al top, senza spendere troppo. E quando corre il rischio di sentirsi davvero una star, ecco che arriva la mamma per non farle montare la testa. E così, mentre il bestseller di Michelle Obama “Become” raccoglie vendite stellari e Michelle calca il palco prestigioso dei Grammy come ospite, la mamma candidamente le chiede su whapp “hai incontrato qualche vera star?” riportandola con i piedi per terra.

La grinta da vendere che questa cinquantenne ragazza americana sgrana quotidianamente come un mantra non ha effetti collaterali. Diciamoci la verità, abbiamo mai visto un marito più innamorato e romantico di Barak?

E allora, Becoming Michelle. Ben vengano gli abiti gialli, le spalle toniche, gli orecchini grandi in movimento, i completi riciclati, il piccolo orto, i sorrisi diretti, le lacrime di commozione, le figlie

tenute per mano, i colloqui con i professori.

TUTTI PAZZI PER L’HAUTE COUTURE Un tuffo nelle più sorprendenti passerelle dell’alta moda Una full immersion tra le passerelle parigine dell’haute couture, un tuffo nell’emozionante nel genio creativo degli stilisti per i quali moda e sogno si stringono in uno straordinario binomio.

Non stiamo parlando di prêt-à-porter, relativamente più accessibile e più facile da indossare, qui si racconta l’haute couture della Ville Lumière, la città scintillante, sfavillante, in cui pallette metalliche si mescolano a onde di piume e drappeggi di seta. È esattamente l’haute couture la dimensione in cui gli stilisti, supportati da abili sarti e materiali preziosi, esprimono la loro creatività e lasciano che gli spettatori si immergano in un mondo di bellezza senza confini, tra dettagli minuziosi e sontuosità.

Perché è pur vero che il costo di queste creazioni è proibitivo, ma sognare non costa nulla.

Abiti ricamati a mano, arricchiti da balze, impreziositi da minuscole perline e dipinti vividi, tailleur in seta avorio, vestiti da sera in tulle, semitrasparenti e stile impero, spume voluminose di leggiadro chiffon: la moda 2019 a Parigi volteggia tra scenografie meticolose che diventano cornici perfette delle sfilate più lussuose e lascia dondolare piacevolmente lo spettatore nella culla couture più bella che esista. I defilè portano in passerella non solo abiti stupendi che si susseguono, seguendo il fil rouge di un unico tema, ma delle vere e proprie storie in cui ogni particolare può diventare il protagonista del racconto, o quantomeno renderlo ancora più accattivante.

A partire da Chanel, che ha ambientato la sua sfilata nel giardino (ricostruito in ogni più piccolo dettaglio al Grand Palais), di una maestosa villa presumibilmente del Sud della Francia appartenente ad una ricca famiglia borghese. Un contesto che ha spiazzato tutti gli spettatori per la straordinaria bellezza e l’assenza del mitico direttore creativo Karl Lagerfeld, deceduto poi neanche un mese dopo.

Georges Hobeika, con la sua raffinata opulenza, ha portato sotto i riflettori silhouette contemporanee ispirate all’emblematica Maria Antonietta e a Versailles, tra volumi maxi, piume e tessuti stracolmi di cristalli, mentre con Maison Schiaparelli sbocciano simboli floreali ed astrologici.

Sempre restando nel tema dell’aurea celeste, Iris Van Herpen ha portato in passerella la seduzione delle chimere mitologiche e dell’atlante stellare Harmonia Macrocosmica.

Fuori dagli schemi la scenografia di Valentino, che si materializza in linee vaporose e stravaganti con una collezione di abiti principeschi che sembrano appena usciti da un sogno.

Il circo invece è l’ambientazione di Maria Grazia Chiuri per Dior: una festa per gli occhi, una simmetria di forme e volumi.

Con Giorgio Armani Privé in passerella tessuti sontuosi, paillettes all over, lunghe frange in seta che si muovono a ogni passo, maxi balze di tulle arricchiti da pois su abiti da grande soirée, pieghe fluttuanti.

Hanno stupito tutti gli italiani Giambattista Valli e Antonio Grimaldi, non solo per le loro creazioni ma anche per la loro modella d’eccezione: Asia Argento. È stata poi la volta della moda d’avanguardia di Jean Paul Gaultier che ha mescolato un po’ i riferimenti: dalla geisha alla punk couture, in una reinterpretazione super pop e multicolor, con uno sguardo al mood nautico con abiti a spirale, come l’interno di una conchiglia, fino alle spalle a «pinna di squalo».

Il duo Viktor & Rolf non è stato da meno e ha stupito il pubblico con una serie di abiti in total tulle dai volumi esagerati con un mix di scritte multicolor tra frasi ironiche e irriverenti, in netto contrasto con i look. •

Tra le misure di interesse per le imprese utilizzabili in questo 2019 partirei da una conferma. Fino al 31 dicembre resterà il vigore il bonus investimenti Mezzogiorno, che supporta le imprese che acquistino beni strumentali per il processo produttivo. Si tratta di un credito d’imposta pari al 45% per le piccole imprese, al 35% per le medie imprese e al 25% per le grandi imprese.

L’investimento deve essere realizzato in una delle seguenti regioni: Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicilia, Sardegna, Abruzzo e Molise.

La Legge di Bilancio 2019 ha inoltre rimodulato l’iperammortamento, incentivo fiscale di cui può fruire chi investa nelle tecnologie di industria 4.0. Il beneficio consiste nella maggiorazione del costo di acquisizione ai fini della quantificazione delle quote di ammortamento e dei canoni di locazione finanziaria deducibili per le imposte sui redditi. Fino al 2018 vigeva la maggiorazione standard del 150%. Da quest’anno sono applicate agevolazioni in misura inversamente proporzionale all’entità dell’investimento: 170% fino a 2,5 milioni di euro, 100% tra 2,5 e 10 milioni, 50% tra 10 e 20 milioni.

Non è prevista alcuna agevolazione per investimenti superiori a 20 milioni. È confermata anche l’agevolazione ulteriore per i beneficiari di iperammortamento che acquistino beni immateriali. La maggiorazione del costo di acquisizione in questo caso è del 40%. L’incentivo si applica a prescindere dal fatto che il bene immateriale sia collegabile o meno a quello materiale per cui si è beneficiato dell’iperammortamento.

Un provvedimento che sta avendo esiti positivi per il Mezzogiorno e che è stato rafforzato con la manovra di fine anno è “Resto al Sud”. L’agevolazione ha lo scopo di favorire la nascita di nuove attività imprenditoriali nelle regioni del Mezzogiorno. In prece-

denza, il beneficio era riservato agli under 36, ora si è esteso agli under 46 e ai liberi professionisti, operanti nelle stesse regioni destinatarie della misura bonus investimenti Mezzogiorno. Tra i punti di forza di “Resto al Sud”, c’è la copertura al 100% delle spese ammissibili. Per il 35% si beneficia di un contributo a fondo perduto, per il restante 65% di un finanziamento bancario rafforzato dal Fondo di Garanzia per le Pmi. Gli interessi del finanziamento sono interamente coperti da un contributo in conto interessi. La Legge di Bilancio ha inoltre sbloccato 225 milioni di risorse destinate ai Confidi per sostenere le piccole e medie imprese, permettendo di utilizzare risorse residue derivanti dall’Art. 1, comma 54 della Legge di Stabilità 2014, destinate ad incrementare i fondi rischi dei Confidi e a realizzare un connesso plafond di nuovi finanziamenti. Grazie a questo provvedimento, si potrà garantire più di 1 miliardo di euro di finanziamenti a favore delle pmi.

Come il nostro cervello ci guida nelle scelte di acquisto

Una metafora molto suggestiva, tanto che ancora diciamo che “certe cose ci fanno impressione!”. In tempi molto più recenti il neuromarketing ci ha insegnato che I marcatori somatici del cervello funzionano allo stesso modo: sono segnalibri, che facilitano e guidano le nostre quotidiane decisioni di acquisto, aiutando il cervello ad elaborare a grande velocità i campi di possibilità ed effettuare le scelte che supponiamo siano migliori per noi.

E su quali base elaboriamo queste scelte? Proprio su quelle impressioni alle quali faceva riferimento Socrate. Colori, suoni, odori, esperienze vissute e ricordi affioreranno alla nostra mente ogni volta che ci troveremo di fronte alla necessità di effettuare una scelta. Per quanto, oggi, siamo tutti iperstimolati visivamente da centinaia di messaggi pubblicitari al giorno, continueremo a prenderemo le nostre decisioni di acquisto in 2 secondi, e molto probabilmente in virtù di motivazioni che risalgono ad una infinita collezione di ricordi ed impressioni accumulati nell’intero corso della nostra vita. David Goleman, padre dell’intelligenza emotiva e autore di diversi bestseller mondiali sull’argomento, sostiene da sempre che il nostro cervello, quando si trova nella condizione di dovere effettuare una scelta, è programmato per valutare e soppesare ciascuna opzione sulla base delle emozioni.

I pubblicitari, seppure in modo non scientifico, hanno da sempre avuto piena coscienza di queste dinamiche. La vecchia storia della Coca Cola e della Pepsi è un caso da manuale.

Un panel di consumatori, ai quali venga chiesto di assaggiare entrambe le bevande, non potrà non concordare sul fatto che la

Pepsi abbia un sapore più gradevole. Tuttavia, di fronte al brand, improvvisamente anche la percezione del sapore si trasformerà.

Potere del brand più famoso al mondo: il colore, le linee sinuose della bottiglia, il lettering, l’associazione con i party dell’infanzia fanno parte ineludibile del prodotto, ne rafforzano percezione e immagine, identificano la squadra vincente.

Il colore è un altro marcatore vincente, in grado di potenziare la riconoscibilità del marchio dell’80% e di aggiungere forza ad un qualsiasi prodotto.

Per molti anni, dopo che fu eliminato il logo, il colore rosso continuò ad identificare il mondo Marlboro. Il colore azzurro di Tiffany è in grado di aumentare il battito cardiaco delle donne del 20%. È azzurro e bianco ciò che è fresco e fa bene, rosa ciò che richiama l’infanzia e la tenerezza, verde ciò che è salutare ed ecosostenibile. Il peso giusto identifica la qualità di un prodotto, quello troppo leggero il contrario. Il profumo del pane appena sfornato nel reparto all’ingresso di un supermercato stimola le papille gustative e fa schizzare verso l’alto la propensione all’acquisto. Il profumo dei pacchetti regalo di Victoria’s Secret o degli store di Abercrombie & Fitch si riconoscono da isolati di distanza.

Come dichiara Martin Lindstrom, padre del neuromarketing, non bisogna avere l’obiettivo di vendere prodotti, ma di sedurre i clienti. Pensiamoci, la prossima volta che rischieremo di confondere i gioielli con dei semplici, banalissimi prodotti.

Niente vergogna, è la moda!

La moda passa, la moda ritorna e stupisce: tra una nuance che è sempre In e un paio di scarpe che è Out già dopo una stagione, ci sono alcune improbabili tendenze che vengono dal passato e fanno nuovamente capolino nelle collezioni degli stilisti per un vero e proprio ritorno al futuro!

Frugando tra i trend per la stagione estiva 2019, ritornano in auge dei capi d’abbigliamento su cui nessuno avrebbe mai scommesso e che sono già dei must have.

Le passerelle hanno sancito ben 10 vincitori che vengono dal passato: capi che spesso anche con fatica abbiamo debellato dal nostro armadio e che oggi sono tornati non come minaccia, ma come qualcosa che addirittura ci piace.

Partiamo dal gilet con i tasconi, quello di cotone pesante che un po’ tutti gli uomini hanno avuto nel guardaroba e che le donne hanno provato a cestinare nei momenti di distrazione.

Ebbene oggi ritorna fiero per decretare lo stile army chic girl: da classico gilet “caccia & pesca” diventa super cool tra tasche

formato maxi, stampe camouflage e molti toni del khaki. Questa volta il gilet scende in campo per vincere e per conquistare la stagione estiva!

Una rivisitazione che non desta quasi nessun scalpore se paragonato alla calza meno sexy dell’universo che sta per spopolare tra tutte le fashion addicted: il gambaletto. Un ritorno made in Miuccia, giacché è un accessorio cult di Prada da sempre: elegante ma anche frivolo, dipende dagli abbinamenti.

Se volete suggerimenti su come indossarlo, basta guardare Gigi Hadid: mini dress con stringate maschili e un paio di gambaletti. Chi è pronta a indossarli fregandosene di tutti i cliché sulla femminilità?

Nuovo boom per le scarpe a Led che sono esplose sul mercato italiano anche grazie allo spot della Tim in cui un gruppo di ballerini esegue al buio una coreografia super coinvolgente utilizzando le famose scarpe che si illuminano. Balenciaga le ha portate in passerella nella versione elegante e formale, da

Che sia ritornato di moda il costume intero è sotto gli occhi di tutti già da un po’, ma quello che vedremo sulle spiagge quest’anno è sgambatissimo, proprio come quello sfoggiato dalle Baywatch girls nella famosa serie tv anni 90.

Da Versace a Balmain, con gli accessori ad hoc, si può trasformare anche in un body super sexy. Non fatevi ingannare: i costumi interi sgambati è vero che coprono la pancia, ma saranno i più hot della stagione estiva.

I ciclisti invece dalla bici approdano direttamente in passerella: ci avreste mai creduto che i pantaloncini tecnici utilizzati per andare in palestra sarebbero stati traghettati dal cassetto del workout all’armadio dei vestiti più cool? È proprio così! Tutto è iniziato da Kim Kardashian che ha iniziato a comporre outfit improbabili e oggi le celebs propongono due correnti: quella casual, in cui i ciclisti si abbinano a felpe e sneakers, e quella chic, in cui si spuntano sotto il blazer e prendono il volo grazie a tacchi vertiginosi.

C’è da dire che è già da un po’ che il comfort è stato il diktat di diverse sfilate: il ritorno in auge delle ciabatte in plastica da spiaggia è la prova di questo filone. Ebbene sì, proprio loro, le ciabatte di nonne e mamme di cui ci siamo anche un po’ vergognate, si sono materializzate nuovamente nel defilè di Chanel e presto non solo le ritroveremo on the beach ma anche in altri contesti. La ciabatta è chic, light e so cool! Vi ricordate il programma “Non è la Rai” con le ragazze fasciate in mini abiti di ciniglia? Balenciaga ripropone vecchi ricordi ormai sepolti e li trasforma in pezzi cult: i vestiti in ciniglia stanno per tornare e le fashion victim ne andranno pazze!

Il revival dei capi anni ‘80 e ‘90 continua con le giacche dalle maxi spalline, da indossare preferibilmente con un mom’s jeans a vita alta e delle sneakers o con un shirt bianca e dei ciclisti.

Sì, perchè anche i jeans a vita altissima ritornano di moda e potremo amarli di nuovo senza alcun senso di colpa!

Da non sottovalutare anche la cerchietto mania: il più ambito è quello dalla forma bombata e in velluto, a seguire il modello più sottile e impreziosito da cristalli.

A breve realizzeremo un obiettivo ambizioso: trasformare Assocoral in una confederazione che possa meglio rappresentare le tre diverse anime che la compongono (corallo, cammei, gioielli). In questo modo potremo affrontare con più efficacia il cambiamento e le nuove sfide del mercato senza perdere la riconoscibilità dell’associazione stessa”. Ma le novità non finiscono qui: “La maggiore identificazione della nostra associazione con l’intero mondo del gioiello torrese ci suggerisce di rilanciare lo storico marchio “gioielli di torre dl greco”. Facilitati da un preciso disciplinare di utilizzo, tutti gli associati avranno la possibilità di accompagnare con questo riconoscimento di qualità i gioielli prodotti secondo la tradizione e la qualità che ci contraddistingue da sempre. Un portale sosterrà infine la tracciabilità del prodotto con marchio identificativo. Si tratta di un progetto ambizioso e molto impegnativo, che siamo certi potrà rappresentare

un esempio virtuoso per tutti i paesi che si affacciano nel Mediterraneo e che vivono le nostre stesse esigenze”.

Tante le iniziative in programma, sia nel campo della divulgazione scientifica, attraverso eventi e convegni, sia nel progetto di alternanza scuola lavoro istituito in collaborazione con l’Istituto Degni di Torre del Greco.

Al via anche una nuova impegnativa mostra. Un progetto itinerante che, sulla scia del successo di “Seduzioni senza tempo”, accompagnerà l’associazione in tutte le principali manifestazioni fieristiche in Italia e all’estero, partendo proprio dal Tarì. “. Protagonista di questo nuovo progetto, il cui titolo è ancora da definire, sarà l’arte – spiega Aucella - Abbiamo chiesto all’artista napoletana Maria Carolina Siricio di creare una serie di opere scultoree e pittoriche ispirate al corallo, suggerendo suggestioni cromatiche ben definite alle nostre aziende, che esporranno a loro volta gioielli ispirati alle opere d’arte”.

La mostra, curata da da Francesca Vitelli proseguirà a settembre durante la fiera di Vicenza e a marzo 2020 durante la fiera di Hong Kong. A questi appuntamenti si aggiungono quelli organizzati nelle diverse città italiane per “la settimana del corallo e del cammeo” promossa da Assocoral e Federpreziosi.

“Resta prioritario per l’associazione l’impegno dedicato alla candidatura della “lavorazione artigianale del corallo e del cammeo di Torre del Greco patrimonio immateriale dell’Umanità”. - continua Aucella – “Dedicheremo attenzione e risorse a questo delicato e importante progetto, fortemente voluto dal presidente Tommaso Mazza (che resta presidente del comitato promotore Unesco) e vissuto dall’intero comparto come una straordinaria opportunità di valorizzazione internazionale della nostra storia secolare”. Affiancherà Aucella nel mandato triennale, oltre a Tommaso Mazza in qualità di vicepresidente, anche il vicepresidente vicario Ciro Condito, che a sua volta manterrà la delega per i temi ambientali e sostenibilità. Completano i nuovi organismi il Collegio sindacale formato da Antonella Borriello, Francesco del Gatto e Vincenzo Raiola e il Collegio dei Probiviri: Vincenzo Liverino, Giuseppe Rajola e Alessio Sorrentino. •

Il Diamante è un dono della natura: gemma per eccellenza, incantevole ed elegante, rappresenta per antonomasia ciò che è prezioso. SPACE ADV LA PUBBLICITÀ DIVENTA SPAZIALE La pubblicità è uno dei settori dell’economia in eterno fermento e tende ad allargare di continuo i suoi orizzonti: questa volta il suo sguardo è rivolto all’insù, molto in alto, più in alto del cielo per arrivare allo spazio.

Questa è l’ambizione di StartRocket, start-up moscovita, che vorrebbe offrire a imponenti brand la possibilità di inviare in orbita dei display pubblicitari che, posizionati a 400500 Km d’altitudine, sarebbero in grado di trasmettere un massimo di tre o quattro pubblicità durante la notte, dal tramonto all’alba.

Vi state chiedendo come sia possibile?

Semplicemente grazie alla luce del Sole che si rifletterebbe sul display formando lettere, scritte, messaggi, disegni e loghi.

La griglia, dai suoi quasi 500 km di altezza sul livello del mare, offuscherà le stelle alle sue spalle e distoglierà l’attenzione dalla banale Luna con almeno quattro messaggi diversi a notte.

L’Orbital Display dunque mostrerebbe ogni 6 minuti diverse pubblicità, che potrebbero variare dal logo della Coca Cola alla data del Super Bowl, dai Giochi Olimpici alle elezioni.

Un tramite perfetto, secondo il leader del progetto Vladilen Sitnikov, “per un’economia che è il sangue della società, di cui l’intrattenimento e le pubblicità sono il cuore”.

Una soluzione di comunicazione che condurrebbe la semplice e umile insegna luminosa fino a cime inesplorate, sia in termini di altezza che di bacino d’utenza, giacché sarebbe visibile a 3,5 miliardi di persone alla volta.

Tuttavia alcuni astronomi sono allarmati da

questa trovata come John Barentine, della International Dark Sky Association, che ha espresso così le sue perplessità: “Questa è una minaccia alla possibilità di svolgere ricerche dalla superficie terrestre. Ogni singolo Orbital Display, ogni singolo cubo che li compone, rovinerebbe questo prezioso lavoro. Per non parlare dello spazio da loro occupato, che porterebbe a un maggiore rischio di incidenti con altri satelliti. Dopo un mese, a quell’altezza, brucerebbero pure nell’atmosfera al ritorno verso la Terra”.

Ci sono anche dei possibili pericoli per la salute causati dall’inquinamento luminoso, come sostiene il cinematografo Harun Mehmedinović: “Noi esseri umani abbiamo un rapporto importante e duraturo col cielo notturno. Senza di esso, senza vedere le stelle, non sarebbero nate certe religioni e non avremmo potuto progredire scientificamente.

Per non parlare del fatto che né le persone, né le piante e gli animali potrebbero esistere ed essere come sono senza un magico cielo stellato sopra ogni cosa terrestre”.

D’altro canto c’è la convinzione che l’Orbital Display possa rendere un servizio di pubblica utilità, giacché StartRocket garantisce che i messaggi spaziali possano essere diffusi anche in caso di calamità naturali o altre situazioni di allarme su scala planetaria, ma anche per imponenti campagne elettorali o per un romantico “ti amo” tra le stelle.

Un’idea brillante dunque? Forse anche troppo! È vero che l’uomo ha sempre ambito allo spazio, ma ora anche la pubblicità lo brama e se da un lato la strada sembra tracciata, dall’altra il percorso non sarà affatto semplice. Il display deve ancora essere testato, finanziato o approvato in un processo che probabilmente si rivelerà complicato a causa della grande mole di burocrazia, norme, regolamenti e standard in materia di pubblicità internazionale, secondo cui dovrà risultare idoneo. Per fortuna, possiamo concludere. Per una volta, restare con i piedi ben saldi a terra può avere un valore poetico: contribuire a salvare il nostro cielo stellato.

As part of its development strategy, the Tarì jewellery centre is increasingly embracing innovative technology and cutting-edge services aimed to benefit the gold-jewellery world.

Expertise and investments are the watchwords of a programme which Vincenzo Giannotti, now in his second term of office as Chairman of the Centre, sums up as follows: “I have finally managed to get the Tarì jewellery centre to steer a course towards the future. As far as I am concerned, it was the only way forward, however it required a change of pace and a spurt ahead. It has not been easy because we had to juggle with two parallel but complementary dimensions - the organisational side of things and that of investment into innovation. But results have been quick to follow. Today the Tarì jewellery centre can count on revolutionary procedures and communication systems and the investments made have taken us beyond the limits of our imagination. Amongst other things, Tarì is now a telephony and internet provider, a prestigious location and a dependable partner for international projects. A whole series of new challenges are just around the corner. But our main objective is to stay forward-looking without losing our connection to the present or forgetting who we are".

The signs from the Fashion-Week catwalks are unequivocal - the upcoming spring and summer season will bring with it an explosion of colour and an urge to ring the changes. The time has come to fill our wardrobes with airy light garments and this year they will be tinged with new vibrant hues. Dressing colourfully is de rigueur either by going for a colour-block look or unusual colour combinations. Let’s take a look at the palette that will be brightening our summertime.

According to Pantone, Living Coral is the colour of the year. This coral shade is animating and life-affirming with a golden undertone that energises. It is a vibrant yet mellow colour loaded with a sense of warmth that lifts our spirits with a buoyant feel, inviting us to take life lightly. Living Coral is reminiscent of the coral reef and, needless to say, the colours of a glowing sunset. It is a warm summery shade that can be worn standalone but is also a perfect counterpoint to a light-blue hue - another shining star of the Spring season.

When combined, these two colours ooze cool femininity for a truly glamorous effect. But there are other hues which can be combined with our colour of the year Living Coral to magnificent effect, such as silver, cream, olive drab, white and gold. Our much beloved light-blue shows no signs of losing its eternal appeal. Fresh, breezy and versatile, this wear-anyhow colour will have us smitten.

Available in so many nuances, light blue is ready to enchant each last one of us with its various guises which range from a pale pastel to a richer almost sombre tone. Greenery is also trending this year and it embraces a series of shades from forest green to deep emerald, including jade and sage. Naturally greenery draws inspiration from nature and it will instantly revitalise our wardrobes with a welcome flash of freshness. Extremely elegant, dark green has an aesthetic edge like no other when worn alone for a chic party look with a sophisticated vibe. On the other hand, sage green will raise the style stakes to new heights if combined with white or pale pink. Beige is back in a big way too in all its various nuances. It goes from camel to fleshtone, including nude.

Beige has hit the catwalks together with austere strong silhouettes that places it firmly in the spotlight. The beiges for 2019 are soft, luminous and especially effortlessly elegant. Beige is an enduring classic that will never let you down.

It looks wonderful with white, pink and light blue, but you can't go wrong with an all-beige look to be broken up with a pair of colourful shoes. An absolute byword for summer and on the list of the most fashion-forward summertime colours is an all-time fair-weather favourite - optical white. White from head to toe is a winner whatever the occasion. A quintessential non-colour, it exudes elegant refinement and its appeal is legendary. Ça va sans dire, it is really easy to mix and match with any other colour - bright colours, pastels hues and even neon tones.

White is a versatile option that will adapt to various outfits, but take care not to mix two tones of white together because the overall impact will be atrocious. It will give an impression of shabbiness.

Winter is well behind us now and our need for colour is coming to the fore. As the days lengthen and temperatures rise, we long to don the colours of nature.

Federorafi turns its attention to the distribution network - P. 28

A department dedicated to the distribution sector has been set up.

According to GFMS data for 2018 processed by Confindustria Moda on Federorafi’s behalf, sales of gold jewellery in Italy over the past few years have yet to show signs of recovery, actually declining by 2.3% in 2017. Then, ISTATii data processed by Confindustria Moda'siii Study Centre for Federorafi tells us that, during the first 11 months of 2018, the gold/silver/jewellery sector suffered a 2.8% drop in foreign sales. We are being buffeted by the winds of change and we find ourselves in a constantly shifting market.

Recently Federorafi’s Governing Council met in Florence to discuss the most important issues at stake and reached some important decisions. One such decision related to our renewed commitment towards the domestic jewellery market and will involve the launch of a survey on consumer trends for Italianmade jewellery and the appeal of the various online/offline sales channels in Italy. With this in mind, it was also decided to create a special department within the Federation dedicated to the distribution sector so as to multiply opportunities for producers and the distribution network to enter into discussion, exchange views and cooperate with each other.

Chairwoman Ivana Ciabatti appointed Vincenzo Giannotti, Tarì’s Chairman and member-at-large of Federorafi, to act as coordinator for this new Department.

In the words of Chairwoman Ciabatti “Federorafi's decision is bound to create dialogue between production and all the parts of the supply chain and this, amongst other things, will create the conditions for information-sharing, as well as common research projects and strategies. In this particular case, attention has been focused on the distribution sector which is an extremely important link between production and retail both in Italy and abroad. Over the past few years, the distribution network has evolved to represent as well as possible the commercial interests of all involved. The plan of Federorafi's newly founded “distribution” Department is ambitious because it intends to bring together the most virtuous aspects of the system so as to be able to tackle, as one, the various fiscal, administrative and market issues, creating a pool of best practices and gaining insight into new trends of Italian consumers - a category which has always heralded the arrival of future fashions and tendencies”. “I am keen to take up this new institutional role,” declared the Chairman Mr Giannotti, “It symbolises Federorafi's intention to address the changing Confindustria FEDERORAFI landscape and tackle the evolving environment in the production sector.

The distribution network is a key part of the way the Italian distribution system works and this new Department set up by our Italian national association fully reflects our new attitude. Now we are looking forward to reading the sectoral studies which will soon be underway and which I am sure will contribute to building up a new picture of Italian distribution structure”.

“Tarì has a wealth of experience,” continues Giannotti, “which is built upon day by day through dialogue and discussion between the production system and the retail sector, whose strengths and weaknesses we are very familiar with. I am confident that this side of things too will give rise to important impetus for discussion and growth for the Italian gold sector”.

The areas falling under the scrutiny of the the newly founded department will be current and future models for jewellery distribution and also the adoption of a handbook describing best rules of conduct from a fiscal and administrative viewpoint to help sector operators cope with a series of increasingly complex and unrelated national regulations which are creating much uncertainty (Italian law 7/2000, money-laundering, electronic invoicing, outsourcing in gold, cash payments, cash for gold, public-safety licence, traceability on the origin of gold, access to credit, loan for use…).

Fashion redefines the canons and rules of style By launching the trend for unisex, gender-fluid and other such dressing styles, it is fashion that has transcended the concept of gender in pursuit of a personal stylishness which is neither masculine nor feminine. Indeed, it can be both at the same time. Anyone who thinks that dressing contrary to conventional expectations for one’s own gender is against nature is way off course because there is nothing natural about dressing in the first place. Still less natural is the line of distinction between male and female apparel because gender-neutral fashion so popular today has always been around.

Historically speaking, Victorian times were when costumes reached conservative heights and gender roles became firmly set and polarised. This was the era when, in the name of the natural order of things, male fashions sharply departed from feminine styles. For centuries in the past up until that point, men and women used to wear similar garments, or ones with very few differences.

When the Victorian age drew to an end, these divisions gridlocked. There was a shift in approach which affected roles within society and clothes as a consequence. Designed to be made from a single length of fabric, overalls were introduced and meant to be the same for everyone, men and women alike.

The rest is history: Coco Chanel walking along the seashore in her lover’s trousers and Marlene Dietrich wearing a tux in the film Morocco.

A series of minor revolutions steered feminine fashion towards male trends, but not vice-versa. The term unisex was coined in the ‘60s and stems from what were called the Space- Age designers. Pierre Cardin, André Courrèges and Paco Rabanne. It corresponded not so much to gender-blending but rather to a new slant on femininity with an androgynous feel.

As trailblazing as they may have been, the unisex trends of the last century were more a question of freedom for women than anything else. Blue jeans and t-shirts were simply borrowed from the malewardrobe.

An acclaimed pioneer of gender-free stylishness is undoubtedly Giorgio Armani who took his own approach to the matter, stating: “I eliminate the differences between men and women. I have given men the ease and softness of women and women the elegance and comfort of men.”

In 1984 Jean Paul Gaultier sent shockwaves through the Paris fashion shows when he unveiled his collection “Men in Skirts”. Male models paraded skirts in all forms and sizes, including tight-fitting office skirts and opulent grand-soirée pieces.

Yet in 2019, although there is nothing groundbreaking about a woman wearing trousers, people seem to get worked up about Jaden Smith wearing a miniskirt in a Louis-Vuitton ad.

In recent seasons, the designer to have developed the idea of genderfree fashion with the greatest tenacity is Alessandro Michele, the artistic director of Gucci. He brought to the catwalka floral-patternedtrouser suitfor her and him, the only difference being one of size. Burberry’s menswear collection featured lacework shirts to be donned with a tie.

Once again, the fashion industry is making increasing overtures to a gender-neutral style and setting the stage for freedom, openness and all-inclusiveness in the rag trade. Mixed-gender runways and genderqueer models have not only won over the more cutting-edge brand names, but also large retailers like Zara or H&M. The difference between menswear and womenswear departments is becoming increasingly narrow and non-binary apparel obtains a stamp of approval from the mainstream when these fast-fashion companies launch their agender collections. Individuals who do not identify in either of the two conventional genders, or who quite simply do not wish to wear socially acceptable clothing, can now rely on an increasingly broad range of clothing to suit body types and occasions. Costume history tells us that this is no fleeting trend, but a path which fashion has always pursued in one way or another. It was only bias that determined that men should not wear skirts. Clearly there are body differences, but any attempt to impose on others what they should wear, or any bid to dictate what is acceptable or not, is quite simply unjustifiable.

As privacy goes, 2018 was somewhat of a disaster. It was the year of the Cambridge Analytica case, the hit parade of useless and entirely predictable passwords (including one of the best (or worst) “123456”) as well as an online record trove of 770 million stolen emails.

Over one billion users breached in a year: these are the alarming figures for 2018 which point to an increase in cyber crimes and the need for users to pay much more attention when they surf the net. 28 January 2019 saw the celebration of Data Protection Day, an event set up by the Council of Europe in 2006 to heighten awareness of the dangers lurking in the web. It is a way to get users to think about online safety and spread the word about what measures to take.

Sophos, a well-known security house, and Google, accused several times for not having made a transparent use of personal data, were the first in line to advocate Day Protection Day and gave out advice to the public about how to boost individual privacy and defend themselves in this world of digital mass media. Choosing the right password is a key factor. Clearly, it must not be overly easy nor used more than once; it is better to include numbers, special characters, uppercase or lowercase; it is always a good move to back a password up with a two-factor authentication procedure which involves user recognition via a confirmation code on the mobile phone. Caution must be exercised with software and applications: they should never be installed blithely and one should always think carefully about what kind of authorisation is required, uninstall any that are not used and constantly update those we do use. When we give an app full access to our devices, the developers can easily view our personal data.

It is just as well to be prudent when browsing websites too. It is not advisable to sign up to any old platform and removing any unwanted accounts is highly recommended. Online users often unknowingly give away their personal data and are quite unaware that for many people their details are a source of income. Information about us is of great interest to enterprise and a huge business has sprung up around it.

The Filangieri Museum - a princely museum P. 41

di Paolo Jorio (director of the Filangieri Museum and the Museum of the Treasure of Saint Januarius) Naples, 5 March 1787 I made today the acquaintance of an excellent individual, and I must briefly give you a general description of him. It is the Chevalier Filangieri, famous for his work on legislation. He belongs to those noble young men who wish to promote the happiness and the moderate liberty of mankind.

When I would write words, images only start before my eyes,—the beautiful land, the free sea, the hazy islands, the roaring mountain! Powers to delineate all the sheer beauty of nature fail me....Here men know nothing of one another.

They scarcely observe that others are also going on their way, side by side with them. They run all day backward and forward in a paradise, without looking around them; and, if the neighbouring jaws of hell begin to open and to rage (Vesuvius), they have recourse to St. Januarius, just as, for that matter, the world has recourse (or would like to have recourse) to blood in order to defend itself against death and the devil. [“Italian Journey” Goethe] While staying in Naples, the great German writer Johann Wolfgang (von) Goethe also singled out from the many faces of Naples two which were prevalent and stood proud, dominating all the others. The intellectual Naples and the spiritual one.

And if the spiritual side of Naples was epitomised by Saint Januarius whose influence over the Neapolitan city was deeply rooted, Gaetano Filangieri senior, whose international renown reverberated throughout Europe (to such an extent that even Goethe came to visit him), symbolised the countless men and women who had made Naples one of the most important intellectual capitals in Europe.

In the second half of the eighteenth century Filangieri senior had come into contact with the ideas circulating in France on freedom and democracy. After he graduated in Law, these ideas prompted him to write a book of global calibre on the theory of legal philosophy in which he outlined his revolutionary concept of man's right to happiness used by Benjamin Franklin to create the American constitution. This book was called the Science of Legislation. And the numerous letters exchanged between the enlightened Neapolitan philosopher and one of the founding fathers of the United States of America are only some of more than three thousand items on display. Predictably enough, the exhibition is housed in one of the most precious buildings in Naples - the Filangieri Museum. His grandson, Prince Gaetano Filangieri junior, followed in the family footsteps and was also a visionary and outstanding thinker. A firm believer in the social function of art and culture, Gaetano Filangieri junior spent a large part of his existence travelling throughout Europe which was, at the time, in the midst of the industrial revolution. He came across modern projects for collectibles and museum installations for industrial art in his quest for rare splendid art objects and his intent was to turn the fine artistry and artisanal prowess of Naples into an industrial process that would become a model for the rest of Europe. And in order to implement his plan he poured all his energies into an ambitious building project. He wanted to set up an artistic-industrial Museum in Naples and purchased Palazzo Como at the time Naples was undergoing urban-renewal work and buildings were being cleared to make space for new roads, including Via Duomo.

To ensure that the Renaissance legacy of Palazzo Cuomo stayed intact, Filangieri decided to move it twenty metres back, aligning it to the new street.

He took charge of the complex refurbishment work on the Renaissance building, arranging for the interiors to be renovated as well with the assistance of the pupils of the Institute of Arts of Naples; then, he used the premises to house his collection. He wanted this collection to be a model for all artisanal Neapolitan excellence and a driver for industrial development. Nowadays the Filangieri Museum with its unique history is not only an extraordinary way to gain insight into a crucial moment in the history of the city, but it is also a gem of a place which contains an exceptional collection of works like sculptures, exquisite objects of applied art (majolica tiles, china, dresses, fabrics, medals, weapons and armour) and a rich art gallery hung with paintings that range from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century and offer an ample overview of Neapolitan artwork; also present in the Museum is a well-furnished library and three book collections donated over the last fifty years. Held to be one of the greatest museums of Italian heritage, the Filangieri Museum is today an extraordinary multi-cultural Art Building where visitors can soak up the intel-

lectual and artistic history of Naples and enjoy the immense cultural wealth of a museum that ranks as one of the most important in Europe. There is nothing static about this Stately Home!

Whoever said that real women are never perfect?

by Floriana Marino (director in charge of the Tarì Magazine) Impressive as a child, irrepressible as a girl and unstoppable as a woman, Michelle has been the most modern, alternative and democratic first lady we have ever had - and not only in the history of the United States of America.

And for women like us who are constantly on the lookout for female models to incorporate into our act, she proved to be a formidable benchmark against which to measure ourselves because so many of us warmed to her friendly positive persona.

What is behind all that charisma, though? Even though Michelle is a powerful woman on a professional level and an equally powerful one as a result of the role she occupies as the wife of one of the most beloved leaders in the history of America, she comes across as being every woman’s best friend.

Straightforward, elegant and always with a smile on her face, she earns our liking because, despite her perfect life, she retains (luckily) some elements of imperfection. But what is it that makes Michelle so irresistible? That astonishing mixture of verve, femininity and determination that moves with her like an aura. Although she may have seemed slightly overweight at times, she soon sprang back into shape. This means that, with a little willpower, we will manage too...

So, Michelle is effortlessly elegant and on-trend whatever the occasion? Yes, she is, but she alternates haute couture gowns with low-cost dresses, unerringly emanating her own personal brand of charm. The message she sends is crystal clear: you can be in tip-top shape without having to overspend. And when she runs the risk of really feeling like a VIP, her mother comes to the rescue and brings her down to earth. Because while Michelle’s bestselling book “Becoming” was being raved about all over and Michelle stood on the prestigious stage as a guest at the Grammy awards, her mother sent her a blunt whatsapp message and asked her “Have you met any real stars?” which soon brought her back to reality.

But especially bring on that warning that Michelle gave us during her farewell speech at the White House on January 6th 2017 when she spoke to an audience of youngsters and teachers: “You cannot take your freedoms for granted. Right now, you need to be preparing yourself to add your voice to the conversation. You need to prepare yourself to be informed and engaged as a citizen, to serve and to lead. And that means getting the best education possible so you can think critically, so you can express yourself clearly, so you can get a good job and support yourself and your family, so you can be a positive force in your communities. And when you encounter obstacles—because I guarantee you, you will —when you are struggling and you start thinking about giving up, I want you to remember something that my husband and I have talked about since we first started this journey nearly a decade ago, and that is the power of hope. So that's my final message to young people as First Lady. I want our young people to know that they matter. So don't be afraid. You hear me, young people? Be focused. Be determined. Be hopeful. Empower yourselves with a good education, then get out there and use that education to build a Country worthy of your boundless promise”. An exciting glimpse at the astonishing haute-couture runways It is an immersive affair as we let the magic of the Paris haute-couture catwalks wash over us and allow our minds to take in the brilliance and creativity of designers for whom the sphere of dreams and the world of fashion are inseparable. We are not talking about prêt-à-porter here, which is relatively affordable and easy to wear. This is about the haute couture of the Ville Lumière - a sparkling sumptuous city where metallic spangles glisten on clouds of feathers and rustling draped silk. Because haute couture is the true abode of designers with their team of expert designers and treasure stores of sublime materials. It is an opportunity for them to give vent to their creativity and delight their audience with a world of boundless beauty filled with curated details and unimagined opulence. These gorgeous creations might be prohibitively expensive, but what does it cost to dream?

Hand-embroidered dresses embellished with flounces and adorned with tiny beads and vivid painterly patterns, suits made from ivory silk, semi-sheer evening gowns in tulle with an empire-line design and frothy lightweight tiers of chiffon: for Paris 2019 fashion swirls from one carefully curated setting to

another, all of which perfectly frame these luxurious shows and lull the audience into an exquisite trance, rocking it in a sublimely constructed couture cradle. The fashion shows do not only showcase one superb dress after another cleverly brought under one single theme, but they form real narratives in which each single detail is worthy of the spotlight, or at least contributes considerably towards the compelling nature of the story.

Starting with Chanel's catwalk which was set in the garden (rebuilt down to the tiniest detail at the Grand Palais) of a majestic villa presumably located in the South of France and owned by a rich bourgeois family. The whole show left viewers speechless, partially because of the sheer beauty of the background, but also because it took place in the absence of the legendary creative director, Karl Lagerfeld. He was to pass away scarcely one month later.

With lavish refinement, Georges Hobeika brought onto stage contemporary silhouettes inspired by the unforgettable Marie Antoinette and Versailles with exaggerated volumes, feathers and fabrics dripping in crystals, whilst with Maison Schiaparelli floral and astrological symbols burst into bloom. Staying on theme with celestial heavens, Iris Van Herpen brought to the catwalk the seductive force of the mythical chimeras and the star atlas Harmonia Macrocosmica Valentino’s setting was out of the box with ethereal bizarre designs and a collection of aristocratic-looking dresses that seem to come straight out of a dream.

On the other hand, Maria Grazia Chiuri chose the circus as a backdrop for her show. It was a feast for the eyes with its perfect symmetry of form and volume. The Giorgio Armani Privé runway showcased sumptuous fabrics, all-over sequins and silk fringing that moved with the models as well as huge tulle flounces embellished with polka dots on gala gowns and lengths of fluttery fabric falling in pleats. Giambattista Valli and Antonio Grimaldi astonished all the Italians not only for their creations but also for their model of choice: Asia Argento.

Then it was the turn of ground-breaking fashion from Jean Paul Gaultier who mixed various references - from geishas to punk couture - in a super-pop multicoloured reinterpretation of his own, giving a nod to nautical style with spiral dresses, made to look like the inside of a shell, and “shark-fin” shoulders. The Viktor & Rolf duo was not to be outdone and stole the show with a series of dresses made entirely from tulle with exaggerated silhouettes and a mixture of multicoloured lettering citing tongue-in-check flippant phrases which were in stark contrast with the looks.

The main measures in support of enterprise for 2019

by Anna Lepre (director of the Lepre Group Study Centre) Of the various measures that are of interest to businesses and actionable in 2019, perhaps I should start by stating that one in particular will be staying in place. Until 31 December, the investment incentive for Southern Italy will still be around and will continue to sustain businesses which purchase capital goods that are vital for the production process. It takes the form of a tax credit amounting to 45% for small enterprises, 35% for medium-sized enterprises and 25% for large enterprises. The investment must take place in one of the following regions: Campania, Apulia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily, Sardinia, Abruzzo and Molise.

Moreover, the 2019 Budget Law has recast hyper depreciation, a tax-incentive scheme that can be used by anyone who invests in Industry 4.0 technology.

The advantage lies in being able to rely on increased purchase costs when quantifying the depreciation charges and the finance-lease installations for income-tax deduction purposes. Up until 2018 a standard increase of 150% was applicable. From this year onwards, the rate is inversely proportional to the scale of the investment: 170% up to € 2.5 million, 100% between € 2.5 and € 10 million and 50% between € 10 and € 20 million. No tax relief is envisaged for investments exceeding 20 million.

Additional tax relief has been confirmed for those eligible for hyper depreciation who purchase intangible assets. The purchase cost would go up by 40% in this case. The incentive will be applicable regardless of whether the intangible asset is connected to the tangible asset which led to the hyper-depreciation benefit.

A measure which is having a positive effect on Southern Italy and which was bolstered by the end-of-year manoeuvre is “Resto al Sud” (I am staying in the South”). The aim of the tax scheme is to spark new business activities in Southern Italy. Previously, the tax benefit was reserved to those under the age of 36, but now it has been extended to anyone under 46 and to any self-employed workers operating in the regions that are eligible for the Southern-Italy investment incentive. Of the various strengths of “Resto al Sud”, there is the fact that it covers 100% of eligible costs. 35% comes from a non-repayable contribution whilst the remaining 65% comes from a bank loan supported by the SME Guarantee Fund. The interest for the funding scheme is entirely covered by an interest-rate subsidy.

The Budget Law has also freed up 225 million resources intended for Confidi (credit consortia) to support small and medium enterprise, allowing for the use of residual resources stemming from Section 1, paragraph 54 of the 2014 Stability Law aimed at increasing the risk provisions of the Confidi and creating an attendant ceiling of new funds. Thanks to this measure, SMEs will be able to benefit from over 1 billion euros in funding.

It is worth highlighting one of the initiatives taken to support employment and

of interest to enterprise which is called the Southern Employment Bonus. This provides 100% contribution tax relief for anyone hiring candidates in Southern Italy aged under 35, or over 35 if they have been unemployed for at least six months.

How our brain guides our purchase choices

by Floriana Marino (director in charge of the Tarì Magazine) Once Socrates asked his pupil Theaetetus to imagine the mind like a lump of wax on which we make impressions whenever we wish to remember anything we see, hear or think, just as we make impressions from seal rings. Whatever is imprinted on that wax, Socrates said, would stay in our memory as long as the image stayed in the wax”.

It was an extremely powerful metaphor and we say that “certain things leave a strong impression on us” still to this day! Coming back to more recent times, we learn from neuromarketing that the brain's somatic markers work in the same way; they act as book marks that facilitate and guide our daily purchase decisions, helping the brain to rapidly process the fields of possibility and make what we suppose are the best choices for us.

So, what are these choices based on? On those impressions that Socrates was talking about. Colours, sounds, smells, experiences and memories rise to the surface of our minds each time we are faced with the need to reach a decision. Despite the constant barrage of advertising messages that we are visually exposed to every single day, we continue to make our purchase decisions in 2 seconds flat and our choices are very likely to be prompted by reasons rooted in an infinite set of memories and impressions gathered in the entire course of our lifetime.

David Goleman, the father of emotional intelligence and author of various international bestsellers on the subject, has always said that when our brain has to make a choice it is programmed to assess and weigh up each option on the basis of emotional processes. Even though they have not gone about it scientifically, advertisers have always been fully aware of these mechanisms.

The old story about Coca Cola and Pepsi is a textbook case.

Consumers on a panel who were asked to try both drinks were forced to agree on the fact that Pepsi tasted nicer. However, when they were put in front of the brand, their perception of the flavour changed too. Therein lies the power of the most famous trademark in the world: the colour, the sleek silhouette of the bottle, the lettering and the associations with childhood parties are all vital parts of the product and they reinforce people's perception of it and its image, placing it firmly on the side of the winning team.

Colour is another successful marker, able to make a trademark 80% more recognisable and to boost the selling value of any product.

For many years after the logo was gone, the colour red continued to be identified with the Marlboro world. Tiffany blue is enough to get women’s hearts racing, increasing their cardiac rate by 20%. Blue and white signal something that is fresh and beneficial, pink evokes our childhood and feelings of tenderness whereas green means healthiness and environmental sustainability. The right weight indicates the quality of a product and something too lightweight has the opposite effect. The scent of freshly baked bread in the food aisle at the entrance of a supermarket stimulates our taste buds and pushes our inclination to buy sky high. The perfume of gift packages from Victoria’s Secret or from Abercrombie & Fitch can be clearly smelt from the bottom of the road.

To quote Martin Lindstrom, the father of neuromarketing, the goal is not to sell products but to seduce customers. Remember that the next time you fall into the trap of thinking that jewels are just ordinary products.

Pieces that we weeded out of our wardrobe with much interior struggle are now back with a vengeance -not to torment us but to elevate our look.To start with, there are those big-pocket vests made from heavy-duty cotton which most men have had hanging in their closet at some stage and which most women have tried to bin when their husbands weren't looking. Well, they have made a triumphant comeback, heralding the army-chic-girl style. From being a traditional “huntin’ ‘n’ fishin’” vest, it has now become übercool with maxi pockets, camouflage prints and a panoply of olive-drab nuances. A change in governance for Assocoral, the historical association which brings together producers of coral, cameos and jewellery from Torre del Greco. The new Board, made up of Ciro Condito, Gioia De Simone, Michele De Simone, Tommaso Mazza, Vincenzo Moccia, Sandro Orlando and Pietro Parrino, voted unanimously for Vincenzo Aucella as Chairman.

36 years old, a degree in computer science and a life dedicated to the family business based at the Tarì jewellery centre where he shares the helm of company management with his brother Manuel - this is Vincenzo Aucella. He has been a member of Assocoral, (the Italian Association of Manufacturers of Coral, Cameos and similar products) for 12 years as well as national board member of Federpreziosi (Italian Federation of Jewellers).

“I am delighted to take office and pick up the baton, carrying on the good work begun by the outgoing Chairman, Mazza,” were the words of the newly appointed Chairman. ”Over the past years, our association has launched a large number of highly successful initiatives and achieved important results.

Work has already started to bring about some interesting new developments.

Soon we will be attaining an ambitious objective - that of turning Assocoral into a confederation that will effectively represent its three different faces (coral, cameos and jewellery). This move will make it easier for us to cope with the changing landscape and the upcoming challenges posed by the market without losing sight of our association's core identity.” But more developments are on their way: “Most of our members strongly identify with the Torre jewellery sector as a whole and this prompts us to relaunch the historic trademark known as “Jewellery from Torre del Greco”. Able to rely on a precise set of rules for use, all the members will then benefit from the support of this official seal of quality for jewellery produced using traditional methods. It will be a recognisable stamp on the top-quality products we have always created. Last but not least, a portal will track the product with an identifying trademark. It is a formidable and challenging project, but we are confident it will serve as a virtuous model for all those countries bordering the Mediterranean that share our same needs.”

There are many initiatives in the pipeline, both in terms of making science ac-

cessible to the general public by organising events and conferences, but also by setting up work-related learning schemes in partnership with the Degni Institute of Torre del Greco.

A brand-new exhibition not without challenges has also been set in motion.

It is an itinerant project which follows in the wake of the highly successful “Seduzioni senza tempo” (Eternal Seduction) and which will accompany the association on its appointments at the main trade-fair events in Italy and abroad, starting with the Tarì jewellery centre. “. The grande dame of this project (and we still have to decide its name) will be Art,” Aucella explains, “We asked the Neapolitan artist Maria Carolina Siricio to create a series of sculptures and paintings inspired by coral, providing our companies with some suggestions for well defined colour schemes. On the basis of this, the companies will display jewellery that draws inspiration from the artworks”. Curated by Francesca Vitelli the Exhibition will continue in September at the Trade Fair of Vicenza and in March 2020 at the Trade Fair of Hong Kong. In addition to these appointments, there will be others organised throughout Italy for the “Coral and Cameo week” promoted by Assocoral and Federpreziosi.

“It is a priority for the association to keep working at our application for recognition of the “artisanal prowess of coral and cameo workers in Torre del Greco as intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.” Aucella continues, “We will concentrate all our attention and resources on this essential and complex project so close to Tommaso Mazza’s heart when he was Chairman.

(Tommaso Mazza will continue to be Chairman of the Committee promoting the candidacy to UNESCO). Everyone is firmly convinced that this is an extraordinary opportunity to bring our century-old history to the attention of the world.” Aucella will be flanked during his three-year mandate not only by Tommaso Mazza as deputy chairman, but also by the acting deputy chairman, Ciro Condito, who in turn will retain the proxy for environmental issues and matters relating to sustainability. The new set-up is completed by the Board of Auditors made up of Antonella Borriello, Francesco del Gatto and Vincenzo Rajola and the Board of Arbitrators: Vincenzo Liverino, Giuseppe Rajola and Alessio Sorrentino.

Over the past few years the advantageousness of buying diamonds as an investment has been widely debated and newspaper reports in recent weeks have fuelled controversy further. Finally, only upon the discovery (unfortunately late in the day) that bank investments in diamonds were not a worthwhile affair did the end consumer regain trust in jewellers.

Associations also play a fundamental role in bolstering the experience placed at consumers’ service and improving the quality of the advice offered by jewellers. Mario Giuffrida, President of the Ado Confcommercio Catania (the Provincial Confederation of retailers of gold, silver, jewellery and watches) which represents the majority of businesses in the province of Catania explains: “I have always warned end consumers not only against making bank investments in diamonds, but also against online scams and teleshopping swindles. It is true that customers today are more aware and informed than they used to be, but I still recommend that they ask their local jewellers for advice if they are interested in buying diamonds. You can always rely on a jeweller to deliver professionalism, a trained eye and experience - and if you are making an investment, you need all of these.”

Convinced that it is vital to be able to count on the right information, the Ado Confcommercio has worked hard to launch a communication campaign on jewellery and created a small handbook packed with invaluable consumer advice. It contains information about precious stones, diamonds, pearls and watches and is guaranteed to help customers make wiser purchases or even investments. This handbook is available free of charge to customers at all affiliated jewellery stores in Catania. It is an extremely helpful book that everyone should read and keep for reference because jewellery has something magical about it - something which is eternally attractive and replete with new discoveries.

Space Advertising - P. 105

Advertising reaches for the stars Advertising is one of those sectors of economy that never stands still and, in its frenzied drive to get ahead, it pushes the envelope constantly. This time, it is going further than the rest, actually higher. It has its sights set very high - into outer space. At least this is the current ambition of StartRocket - a startup company from Moscow which intends to offer mega brands the chance to send advertising displays into orbit. Positioned at an altitude of 400-500 km,

these displays will be able to transmit three to four adverts at the most in the course of the night from dusk to daybreak.

You will no doubt be wondering how. It is quite simply a question of sunlight reflecting on the display and forming letters, slogans, messages, pictures and logos. Looming up almost 500 km from sea level, the grid will obscure the stars behind it and overshadow the modest moon as it delivers four different messages every night.

Every 6 minutes, the Orbital Display will show a variety of advertisements which could include Coca Cola, the Super Bowl, the Olympic Games or even the elections. A perfect vehicle, according to the leader of the project, Vladilen Sitnikov, “for an economy is the lifeblood of society while entertainment and advertising are at its heart.”.

A communications solution that would take the commonplace neon sign to unexplored heights, both in terms of actual distance and audience, bearing in mind it would be viewable by 3.5 billion people at the same time.

But some astronomers are alarmed by this new system. One of these is John Barentine from the International Dark Sky Association and he explained what troubles him: “It's a threat to the ability to do astronomical research from the ground. Each single orbital display and each single cube making it up will ruin this invaluable work. Not to mention the occupation of space which would increase the risk of accidents with other satellites. After a month at that height they would even burn up in the atmosphere on their way back to Earth.”

There are also major health hazards linked to light pollution, the cinematographer Harun Mehmedinović claims: “As human beings, our relationship with the night sky is extremely important and goes back a long way. If it had not been for the night sky and our vision of the stars, certain religions would never have come into existence and we would not have made scientific advances.

Never mind the fact that neither people nor animals and plants would exist or be as they are without a magical star-spangled sky over our heads”.

On the other hand, some seem to believe that the Orbital Display could be a public utility seeing as StartRocket guarantees that space messages could be broadcast in the event of natural disasters or other emergencies on a global scale. It could also be a way to launch a powerful political campaign or a romantic way to declare everlasting love.

It could be termed a brilliant idea, then. Perhaps a bit too much so! It is true that the sky has always been the limit for mankind, but now advertising is shooting for it too. So, it would appear that the future is written in the stars, although it is not going to be as easy as one might think. The display still needs to undergo testing and be funded and authorised; the whole process will probably get bogged down in all the red tape, regulations, laws and standards required by international advertising institutes before it makes the grade. Luckily for us, it must be said. For once, perhaps, coming back down to earth has a poetic ring to it - and is just what we need to save our starry night sky.

Thanks to the presence of cutting-edge infrastructure on its premises for some months now, Tarì has become a reliable competitive telephony and internet provider and is almost ready to extend the service it has tried and tested internally to the external world.

The Tarì jewellery centre remains the main platform for dialogue and exchange between entrepreneurs and the market, constantly on the lookout for fresh impetus and new opportunities. Now into its second year, the Training-Capsule Programme provides the retail sector with countless benefits. These range from professional updates and discussions about burning issues for the gold-jewellery business world, such as in-depth information about legislation on privacy and electronic invoicing or ways to exploit social-media marketing opportunities. The huge success of the European Fencing Contest and the Hunting Show Sud (for Southern Italy) were two events that chose the Tarì Jewellery Centre as its partner for success for the second year running. This confirms the Tarì Centre’s vocation for hosting and backing large events with its spacious premises and tight organisation.
