is a strategy.
Without it, we give in, give up, and believe this world is good enough for our kids.
Our Mission
Center for Child Counseling is building the foundation for playful, healthful, and hopeful living for children, families, and communities.
Our Vision
Resilient, thriving children in healthy families and safe communities.
Our Goal
Create trauma-aware adults within our homes, schools, and communities who recognize and stop childhood trauma and abuse in its tracks, are part of the healing process, and ensure children grow healthy in mind and body.
Our Strategy
Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences, or HOPE, is at the foundation of our work. Promoting HOPE means building healthy relationships through Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) - the antidote to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma.
Learn more about HOPE
Abuse and neglect don’t discriminate. Neither do behavioral issues or family dysfunction.
From every neighborhood in Palm Beach County, from every type of family situation. We serve children and families from every neighborhood in Palm Beach County. No matter the background or circumstance, we’re here to help. Our team addresses a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, anger management, parent-child attachment issues, and difficulties adjusting to separation or divorce.
Why does childhood trauma matter so much?
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are serious stressors like abuse, neglect, or family dysfunction that can deeply impact a child’s development. These experiences don’t just fade with time; they can actually change how a young brain grows.
Without support, the effects of trauma can lead to long-term mental and physical health challenges. But when we learn to recognize the signs and respond with care, we can help children heal and prevent a lifetime of struggle.
48% of children in the U.S. have experienced at least one type of serious childhood TRAUMA.
See how connection, support, and HOPE can change a child’s path.
Our goal is to create trauma-aware adults within our homes, schools, and communities who recognize and stop childhood trauma and abuse in its tracks, are part of the healing process, and ensure children grow healthy in mind and body.
Fighting ACEs. Transforming Lives. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) impact lifelong health. That’s why our Fighting ACEs initiative, launched in 2016, is laser-focused on prevention and early intervention.
Through education, collaboration, and direct support, we’ve engaged thousands of caregivers, professionals, and community leaders to change the story for children.
We don’t just raise awareness—we act Our model brings science into practice across Palm Beach County through a centralized intake system that meets families where they are and connects them to what they need fast.
At the heart of this approach: our Data to Action Framework, which uses rapid feedback cycles to gather real-time data that directly improves programs, services, and outcomes.
When a family reaches out, a comprehensive, compassionate process begins:
STEP 1: CONNECTION
Families are welcomed by our team who use WebAuthor to:
Collect and organize key information
Track communication and preferences
Match needs with services, programs, or group
STEP 2: CONSENT & SCREENING
Consents and screenings are completed to:
Uncover critical needs
Guide service recommendations
Prepare for seamless service handoffs
STEP 3: MENTAL HEALTH CONSULTATION
A member of our team meets with the family to:
Provide immediate emotional support
Address behavioral concerns without requiring a diagnosis
Determine the best-fit services or referrals
STEP 4: THE WARM HANDOFF
Families are: Connected with an internal therapist or program, or Referred to the right community resource, with personal followthrough
Behind every data point is a story of a child, a family, a future.
Data isn’t just numbers—it's the story behind every child we serve. It tells the story of real families, real needs, and real progress. At Center for Child Counseling, data fuels our ability to respond faster, serve smarter, and strengthen communities.
How the data works:
We track service needs, consultation themes, and crisis patterns to uncover what children and caregivers are facing right now, from anxiety to behavioral concerns. We gather insights on interventions, care coordination, and outcomes, and even map gaps across neighborhoods to see where help is needed most.
But we don’t just collect information we use it. Our data dashboard brings these insights to life, helping us spot emerging trends, design targeted programs, reach families in underserved areas, and guide smart staffing decisions.
Data + Action = Smarter Support for Children and Families, Every Step of the Way.

BeKidSafe encompasses both StayKidSafe! and CampSafe, offering personal safety education that focuses on preventing and raising awareness about sexual abuse.
Play Therapy is at the heart of our work because when children can't explain what they feel, they show us through play. Toys become their words, offering a window into pain, fear, and confusion and a pathway to healing and hope.
Using puppets, dollhouses, and toy cars, our therapists gently guide children through the emotions they can’t yet put into words (grief, fear, anger, or anxiety), creating a safe space for healing to begin.
children affected by trauma, abuse, or family stress, Play Therapy is a lifeline. Our therapists help them make sense of their story gently, at their own pace, and in the language they know best: play.
To help families bring healing play into everyday life, we offer free resources on our website such as tip sheets, activity guides, and videos, that empower you to connect with your child or teen in meaningful, supportive ways.
“Play is the language of children. Toys are their words.”
Workshops, videos, tip sheets, support groups, and consultation to improve your way of being with children. Fortunately, resilience is like a muscle that can be exercised and strengthened, and you can give your child powerful tools in their battle to remain calm in the face of adversity.
With beKidSafe, powered by Center for Child Counseling, we are building the capacity of educators, professionals, and the community to promote child safety, resilience, and well-being.
