CUBES Throughout the semester we were assigned to design and create 4x4 cubes out of different materials.

This project helped me get familiarized with these materials so I could practice my craftmanship to then implement it on the projects to come after it. It created a base for me as a designer.

SIGNIFICANT ARTIST The objective of researching significant artist was to learn about their work and how they influenced our modern world today.

DIAGRAMING NEXUS Fatima, Nate, Daniel and myself were assigned to create a unique diagrams that shows differences and similarities between each one of us to then represent itn a creative way .

TOPOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION The purpose of this project was to recreate an object that contains space with four different models to develop awareness of the relationship between solid and void. There are three different types of cardboard models (vertical, horizontal, and eggcrate) and a skin model made from a material of your choosing. I chose metal wire for my last model. This project requited a lot of time, precise measurements and a good craftmanship with cardboard.

VISUAL HEIRARCHY The goal of the visual hierarchy project was to take a two dimensional Mondrian painting and transform it into a threedimensional model. In order to capture the original feel of the painting, my model has a strong focal point the is closer to the eye while the receding colors go in a incline opposite to the warmth ones. My project is constructed out of foam core and basswood sticks. This project required deliberate placement of planes to create space, as well as to create voids.

VISUAL HEIRARCHY

CREATING PATTERN, COLOR, TEXTURE The goal of this project was to experiment with patterns, colors, and textures. The first step was to create a stamp and create three different patterns with it. The next step was to experiment with color by creating a color wheel, a plaid pattern, then lastly to recreate one of the original patterns from the stamp using color. The last step was to experiment with texture by folding paper. This project helped me have a better understanding on how color and placement work together.

MAKING SPACE For this project we had to read the book invisible cities from Calvino and then choose a city. The goal of this was to create a landscape using the city our interpretation of the city we chose. My city was Zobeide and with my project I tried to portray a trap. This project helped me get comfortable thinking abstract and imagining new things.

EXPANSIVE SPACE This project is a continuity of the making space project, because we used the landscape that we created as a base for a new structure. We had to follow the theme previously used or create a new one for this structure. The goal of this project was to connect the landscape and the new structure, so both of them will become one and interact with each other.

The theme I used for this structure was freedom, because after being trapped I wanted to design a structure that will serve as an scape. This project helped have a better understanding of how a building interact with a landscape.
