Vinita Kailasanath is a partner in Freshfields’ Life Sciences Transactions Group. Vinita has represented life sciences companies, technology companies, health care companies and providers, and investors in connection with the execution of their cutting-edge MedTech and digital health strategies, in addition to their other complex licenses and collaborations, strategic investments, and R&D and supply agreements. She has advised clients on transactions involving medical devices (including SaMD), wearables, mobile apps, telemedicine, artificial intelligence/machine learning, software, hardware, pharmaceutical products, and biologics and also routinely advises on the intellectual property aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. Vinita is the Co-Chair of the Freshfields Asian, Pacific, and South Asian American Employee Resource Group and was selected as a 2023 LCLD (Leadership Council on Legal Diversity) Fellow. Chantale Fiebig

Chantale Fiebig is the Co-Managing Partner of the Washington, D.C., office and a member of Weil’s Complex Commercial Litigation practice. Chantale focuses her practice on representing corporate clients in complex commercial litigation and high-stakes business disputes in federal court, including matters involving transactional disputes, business torts, commercial fraud, and consumer protection claims. She served as trial counsel in federal jury and bench trials, including high-profile disputes regarding new and emerging tech, the financial services industry, public nuisance claims, and joint venture disputes. She has also served as lead counsel in numerous putative class actions, most involving high-profile claims of corporate fraud, unfair business practices, false advertising, or consumer deception. Chantale was recognized throughout the industry for her expertise and success in complex litigation by publications, including Lawdragon, Law360, and the National Law Journal. Chantale received her B.A. in economics from the University of Virginia and her Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School.

Shilpa Upadhye, Senior Counsel at McDonald’s Corporation, has been “lovin’” the practice of law for over 27 years. Shilpa has practiced all aspects of commercial real estate law. Thereafter, she practiced in law firms in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and New Jersey. In 2007, Shilpa went in-house as a foreign legal consultant to Tim Hortons Corporation in Canada and worked on U.S. real estate and franchising matters. In 2012, Shilpa joined McDonald’s Corporation as Senior Counsel, where she works on real estate matters and corporate bond issuances and supports the Governance Committee and Board of Trustees of Ronald McDonald House Charities. She also served as Regional Counsel to 10 European Union countries. Shilpa is a graduate of the University of Michigan and attended St. Mary’s School of Law. When not working, Shilpa loves to travel, cook, and learn about personal finance and the stock market.

Lucy K. Park is a partner at Perkins Coie LLP, where she helps clients protect their wealth, minimize taxes, and avoid family disputes when possible. Lucy counsels high-net-worth individuals, traditional and nontraditional families, family offices, and family-owned businesses on wealth preservation and transfer, charitable giving, and multigenerational and business succession planning. She advises fiduciaries and beneficiaries on the administration of trusts and decedents’ estates, probate, and pre- and post-mortem planning. She assists clients with asset protection and international tax planning. Lucy works with individuals and organizations to address a wide range of tax issues impacting charitable giving and the formation and administration of public charities, private foundations, and donor-advised funds. Lucy is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Lucy earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology at Smith College; her M.A. in psychology and human development at the University of Chicago; and her Juris Doctor, with high honors, Order of the Coif, at Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Erva Cockfield is Senior Counsel at Uber Technologies Inc., where she leads legal strategy, commercial transactions, and product counseling for the nascent Uber Transit business — a suite of products integrating public transportation into the Uber app. Before joining Uber, Erva advised the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) on innovative financing, public-private partnerships, and civil rights enforcement. She taught legal rhetoric at the American University Washington College of Law. Erva’s work has been recognized by peers, receiving the Uber “Build with Heart” Award, DOT General Counsel’s Award for Excellence, and DOT Secretary’s Partnering for Excellence Award and being named a 2021 Power 100 Honoree by the National Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. Erva earned her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia, where she served on the Senior Editorial Board of The Virginia Journal of Law and Technology. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Erva is a proud Guyanese American.

ADRIANA BLANCO MAURISSET VICE PRESIDENT, SENIOR MANAGING COUNSEL MASTERCARD

Adriana Blanco Maurisset is a Vice President, Senior Managing Counsel, in Mastercard’s Strategic Growth legal team, where she serves as the frontline legal support for the global government engagement and cities and mobility teams. In this capacity, Adriana regularly works and advises on agreements and interactions directly and indirectly with governments across the world. Adriana has been at Mastercard for over six years. In her prior roles within the company, she gained a wide range of experience leading multiple market and product legal teams across the Latin America and Caribbean region. As a market counsel, she led the legal team for 27 Caribbean islands, gaining firsthand experience working with various facets of government and regulatory agencies. Adriana received her Bachelor of Arts in economics from Florida International University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. Valerie Dahiya

Practicing at the intersection of financial regulation and technological innovation, Valerie Dahiya advises financial services clients on complex compliance, regulatory, and transactional matters arising under U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Financial Institution Regulatory Authority (FINRA) jurisdiction. As the Managing Partner of Perkins Coie’s Washington, D.C., office, she is also the firmwide chair of the Securities Trading and Markets practice. Valerie advises clients in the distributed ledger technology space that are seeking to understand the potential securities regulatory implications. Her practice ranges from product counseling to counseling on complex compliance and regulatory issues. Prior to joining Perkins Coie, She was Branch Chief in the Office of Trading Practices in the Division of Trading and Markets at the SEC. GLOBAL DIRECTOR, COUNTERFEIT CRIMES UNIT AMAZON

Kebharu Smith is the Global Director of Amazon’s Counterfeit Crimes Unit (CCU), an international team whose mission is to disrupt and dismantle counterfeit organizations by targeting them through criminal referrals to law enforcement and civil litigation.

Prior to joining CCU, Kebharu served as Senior Corporate Counsel with DOJ’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS). Before that role, he was an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in Houston. Throughout his career with DOJ, Kebharu prosecuted a variety of offenses, including intellectual property crime, fraud, civil rights violations, and bank robberies. Kebharu traveled internationally for investigations and to train judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement. Kebharu began his career as a Prosecutor in Texas and is still active with the Texas District and County Attorneys Association, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Kebharu graduated from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2001 and the University of North Texas.

Arian June is a Debevoise & Plimpton LLP Litigation Partner and a member of the firm’s White Collar & Regulatory Defense Group. Recognized as one of 25 Influential Black Women in Business by The Network Journal and by Benchmark Litigation and Chambers USA for her expertise in white-collar criminal defense, Arian’s legal practice focuses on government/internal investigations, securities enforcement defense, whistleblower response, and crisis management. She has represented various financial institutions, publicly traded companies, investment advisors, and senior executives in complex regulatory matters before the SEC, DOJ, and FINRA. Arian’s representations include matters involving allegations of securities fraud, insider trading, accounting fraud, cyber-intrusions, and violations of sales practices. Xenia Garofalo counsels clients on federal income taxation with a focus on providing tax and structuring advice for institutional and global investors, fund sponsors, and multinational companies. Xenia has counseled clients on the tax-efficient use of special-purpose vehicles and real estate investment trusts (REITs). Xenia has published several articles relating to complex real estate tax matters (including for the American Bar Association, the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and the American Law Institute). Xenia has provided numerous presentations on complex real estate tax matters, including those relating to investment structures utilizing REITs and leveraged blockers. Beyond her client-focused work, Xenia routinely serves as a guest speaker and was an adjunct professor of corporate tax law. Additionally, she is a recurring faculty member for online CLE providers. Shanda Galloway Botts

Shanda Galloway Botts is SVP of Ethics and Compliance, Employment Law, and Litigation at AARP, the nation’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering people 50 and older to choose how they live as they age. As Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, Shanda manages the Ethics and Compliance program, which is designed to prevent and detect misconduct, facilitate compliance with applicable laws, and promote a strong culture of compliance and ethical behavior within AARP. In her role as SVP of Employment Law and Litigation, Shanda manages litigation, with an emphasis on employment litigation. She provides advice, counseling, and training to AARP managers and HR professionals. Cherine Foty is a Senior Associate in the International Arbitration Group at Covington. Cherine is a dually qualified common law and civil law lawyer and spent several years practicing international arbitration in the Paris office of a major U.S. law firm. She has experience in the energy sector, regularly representing clients in gas pricing arbitrations, in cases involving renewables, and in matters relating to ESG, corporate social responsibility, supply chain due diligence, and business and human rights. She also regularly handles complex international disputes across different sectors and has acted for both investors and states in investor-state arbitrations involving public and private international law. Cherine is a Member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and the Global Vice President of the Campaign for Greener Arbitrations, where she engages in thought leadership related to sustainability and climate change issues.
