We are delighted that Hollie Simpson, Harrison Kasperowicz and Daisy Mellor have all been given conditional offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge!
Honours Programme:
The Honours Programme for aspiring degree apprentices and top university attendees has been re-modelled this year with a wonderful 77 participants and counting. These students enjoy weekly guest lectures, and academic and employability skills workshops in line with their aspirations.
623 applications were sent off before the Equal Consideration Deadline which beats where we were this time last year. Please remind your students it is still not too late to apply and to get in contact!
Access Schemes:
To date we have 21 students on prestigious access schemes including OxNet, Steps2Medicine and the Ancient Worlds Network. We await to hear the results of others so watch this space!
Students from across our campuses enjoyed a convention in Manchester with over 100 exhibitors from the creative industries and institutions.
Guest Speakers:
So far this year we have had guest lectures across a variety of curriculum areas from UA92, Edge Hill University, University of Manchester, Lancaster University, Wrexham University, UCA and many others. If you would like assistance in arranging this for your groups, please do get in touch.
A-Level, BTEC, and T-Level learners attended a bespoke sustainability day at Keele University, learning from leading lecturers about the importance of going green!
EPQ Study Day at Lancaster University:
Our EPQ students enjoyed a visit to Lancaster University where they worked with academics to assist in the research for their projects.
Currently the 10th best university in the UK, we have loved working with Lancaster this academic year to bring unique learning opportunities to our students. The balance between prestige and modesty makes Lancaster University a wonderful destination for our aspirational learners who are nervous about big-city life.
Set up by the ‘Class of ‘92’ only 4 years ago, UA92 have revolutionised how HE is delivered in light of best teaching practices. Specialising in 4 degree areas (Business, Digital, Sport, Media) they are quickly becoming one of the best universities in Greater Manchester.
This year we have launched a programme to work with highly academic students in local high schools. Following a trial run with The Oaks Academy we have created a 4-part
After Easter, Level 3 Year 1s will be starting their UCAS journey with support workshops and talks from the University of Liverpool, Bangor University and many more.
Dr Peter Nellist from the University of Oxford will be joining us for a few days to show our A-Level and BTEC scientists what the pursuit of STEM at HE can look like.
programme including academic lectures, skills workshops, mentoring from our Scholars students, and a research project.
Our UCAS applicants will be invited to join a 3-step programme to make sure they are prepared for HE, new for this year!
Manchester Metropolitan University and Coventry University will be coming in to discuss the realities of and top tips for Degree Apprenticeships.
