Welcome to fall!

I'm looking forward to experiencing my first autumn here in Incline Village and Crystal Bay and getting to see firsthand what this season offers. On the IVGID front, this fall will be busy as usual.

Community Open Houses I'd like to say Thank You to everyone who attended the IVGID Community Open House, held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at The Chateau at Incline Village. We were thrilled to welcome approximately 225 community members who took the opportunity to engage directly with IVGID’s employees, leadership staff, and individual board members.

Attendees had the chance to meet with IVGID's Engineering and Public Works staff and senior managers to discuss significant District capital projects in various stages of planning, design, and construction.

The feedback received from attendees was overwhelmingly positive regarding the event format. Many expressed that this Open House provided an excellent and accessible way to learn about and provide input on IVGID's major ongoing projects and initiatives.

If you missed the event but still wish to provide feedback on one or more of the capital improvement projects discussed or provide thoughts on the strategic plan before that process begins, you can submit an IVGID Community Open House Public Comment Form at https://bit.ly/open-house-comments.

Facility Fee FAQ

We welcome community involvement in this strategic plan process and encourage all IVGID residents to participate in future open houses and community events. For more information, please see: www. yourtahoeplace.com/about-ivgid/ resources/district-strategic-plan/

Each year, IVGID establishes an annual Recreation Facility Fee and Beach Facility Fee – collectively referred to as the “IVGID Facility Fees” – collected from property owners within the District through an annual tax levy that is billed with your property taxes. For this upcoming tax year these include a $720 Recreation fee and a $655 Beach fee respectively – a total IVGID tax bill of $1,375, which represents a fairly significant increase compared to the past two years that reflected historically low fees, at an unsustainable level to finance and sustain the District.

These fees are determined based on the revenues required to support the District's debt, capital expenditures, and operations for the District’s various recreation and beach facilities.

Combined with service charges collected for facility use and program activities, these revenues sustain the operations funded by the Community Services Fund and Beach Fund.

It has been several years since the District last completed a strategic plan. Our intent with the District strategic plan is to utilize long-term thinking and financial planning in pursuit of the mission, vision, values and objectives of the District.

So, as you can see, it's a busy time of year in IVGID's world, even as some of the summer crowds die down. I hope you get to spend some time outdoors enjoying the changing seasons while finding ways to stay connected to the important projects we're moving forward with here in our community.

Pre-Swim Team/Northern Nevada Aquatics Swim Team (NNA) Come join Incline’s premier swim team for both competitive and novice swimmers. Our USA Swimming-certified coaches will evaluate appropriate levels and practice times for each participant. For those who are participating in USA Swimming, the opportunity to travel to USA Swim meets is available. Swim team fees are due monthly. Youth Swim Clinics Youth Swim Clinic will focus on stroke development and overall swimming endurance. Coaches will work with kids to foster a sense of team building and camaraderie through creating a fun and motivating experience.

These mile-long, paved road hikes to the Crystal Bay lookout site, sponsored in collaboration with the National Forest Service, usually include a spectacular sunset and ensuing moonrise. Incliners, established in 1989, is the longest-running social club for active adults 49+ in Incline Village and Crystal Bay. Each month, members enjoy happy hours, potlucks, game nights, themed catered dinners with dancing, and more. The club also hosts book clubs, bridge groups, après ski lunches, and soon, a singles club. Whether you’re looking to meet new friends, enjoy great company, or simply embrace the mountain lifestyle, Incliners offers a warm and welcoming community. Senior Transportation (55+) The 55+ Senior Transportation Program is a collaborative effort provided by IVGID Senior Programs, Washoe County, NDOT and RTC. This door-to-door, reliable, affordable service provides local seniors a way to get around, run errands, make appointments, and take care of business. Reservations are required.

Recreation Center Hours

THE INCLINE VILLAGE RECREATION CENTER The Recreation Center is launching in to the digital age! New TV monitors are installed around the building, each offering a plethora of information about group fitness classes, camps and programs, community information, fun photo slideshows, and more. This is part of a larger initiative to transition to paperless within the next few years – it’s a BIG move and the forest is loving it!

The Recreation Center is a community resource hub. From processing IVGID Recreation Passes (aka Picture Passes) to kayak/paddleboard rack management, gym memberships to camp registration, the Rec Desk serves as a Community concierge for

the District. Besides being greeted by a warm smile from the Rec Desk, the facility itself offers something for everyone with variety of different membership options for the public and IVGID Pass holders. The 8 lane indoor pool is 25 yards and there is a dry sauna in the natatorium. The pool is home to Incline High School’s swim team, several weekly aquacise classes, swim lessons for all ages and various, periodic certification classes. The gymnasium is abuzz from open until close every day. It’s a great place to practice that 3 pointer, get a workout in, play some soccer, pick up basketball, volleyball league, and take part in Preschool Playground for our extra smalls.

The gym just got a new treadmill rounding out a huge floor of cardio equipment. You can find a plethora of strength machines, cables and/or free weights, in the gym as well.

The Group Fitness Room was recently upgraded with new flooring, after 14 years of continuous use for fitness classes, dance classes, and personal training. The new Forever Marley Flooring offers enhanced shock absorption, vibration control, and uniform bounce, to help reduce stress on joints and muscles.

The cardio room at the Recreation Center has added a new state of the art treadmill. camaraderie that comes with playing the game with a group of friends here in Incline Village can be truly life changing.

Built in 2020 next to the Recreation Center at 980 Incline Way, the Incline Village Bocce Ball Park offers a great opportunity to get together with friends and family for a casual, or competitive, game of bocce.

On any given day you might find players from age 2 to 102 out enjoying the fresh air amidst the pines, playing on one of the four bocce courts made with a special material called “Bocce Mix” that was imported from Arizona.

On Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m., the average age creeps up, as many of the Bocce Boyz are in their late-70s, 80s and even 90s - but that doesn’t mean their games are tame. On the contrary, there is a huge amount of good-natured trash talking associated with playing bocce, as well as a lot of ball-themed nicknames.

I rolled up ready to take some photos and ask for some real-world playing tips from the Bocce Boyz who were at the courts that day, only to be immediately recruited into a game.

On the day I played with the group, Ken “Hair Balls” Hubbart was joined by Jim “Pickleballs” Fisher, Jim “Admiral

“It’s a game anybody can play, you just need to come down and try it,” said McCallum, who at age 77 considers himself a junior member of the Bocce Boyz. “Obviously there’s no age limit, and it’s a good way to stay active and enjoy the company of other people.”

Getting the Bocce Ball Park built in Incline Village was important to the Bocce Boyz and other local players.

According to Hubbart, they were traveling all the way to Truckee to play bocce before the local courts were built, as the only other bocce court in town before 2020 was the single court at Ski Beach.

When asked for playing tips, the most important thing is simply to “Show up”, according to Hubbart. “It’s an easy game… Get some people that you enjoy being with and just have fun.”

Many players bring their own bocce sets with them to the courts, but even that isn’t necessary. The Incline Village Recreation Center has bocce sets to rent for $20 per day.

The rules of bocce - which has been played in some form since the days of Julius Caesar, according to Hubbart are fairly straightforward and can be found online with a simple search. But there isn’t anyone out there policing folks and making sure you are playing the “right way.”

On a court adjacent to the two taken up by the Bocce Boyz on the day I visited, the Gonzales family was playing their own game with a slightly smaller bocce set and different rules. But the commonalities of good-natured

competition and family bonding were there none-the-less.

So while we list a few more tips to improve your game, getting better at bocce is really as simple as Wayne Matott’s advice to me that day: “Find some people who want to be healthy, have some fun and make fun of each other, and just come play.”

1. Master the basics of grip and release On the Bocce Mix courts, the smoothness of the surface means the ball will often roll further and with less friction than on looser surfaces.

This amplifies the importance of a consistent grip and release. A relaxed underhand pendulum swing remains ideal. Focus on a very smooth release, letting the ball glide off your fingertips. Any jerkiness or inconsistent spin will be more noticeable on the Incline courts, potentially sending your ball off course. Practice drills where you aim for a specific distance repeatedly to dial in your power and release point.

neither too hard nor too soft. The fine, compacted nature of the court surface means the ball will generally roll true, with minimal deviation from its initial path, with some exceptions. This is a double-edged sword: good shots are rewarded with precision, but errant throws are also unforgiving.

One big advantage for players willing to pay attention is the fact that balls generally leave a track as they roll along, allowing an observant player to see deviations in the court surface and adjust future throws accordingly.

And keep in mind that weather can have a big impact on the court surface.

Seasonal Watercraft Parking Passes A limited number of Seasonal Watercraft Parking Passes were available for IVGID Recreation Pass holders as a pilot program this summer.

The assigned spots were located on Ski Way below Diamond Peak Ski Resort.

We plan to evaluate the program during the offseason and gather an interest list of those who may be interested in purchasing a Seasonal Watercraft Parking Pass in the future.

ECO-CLEAN Solutions’ BEBOT, a solarpowered robot, was deployed at Incline and Ski Beach to help clean up after the Fourth of July holiday. This specialized endeavor was funded by Incline Fireworks. The BEBOT robot sifted through the top layers of sand July 6-7, removing a variety of litter and plastic debris in these crucial locations, next to the lake.

The collected litter was sorted, and the trash was logged. Some of the top items collected over the almost 46,000 square feet were plastic items (316 pieces) and more. Overall, 531 items were collected and the beaches were transformed thanks to this amazing technology and the team behind it!

The District currently operates a total of 36 outdoor barbecue grills, located at our beaches and parks. IVGID has recently installed six new propane BBQ grills at Burnt Cedar Beach, with plans to install additional propane grills at the other District beaches in the future.

Look for the new barbecues at the picnic areas on the east side of Burnt Cedar Beach and near the peninsula adjacent to the pool.

Currently, the propane BBQ grills can be attached to standard refillable 3-gallon or 5-gallon propane tanks, which can be brought from home or purchased locally. (Note: the grills will not connect to the small, campingstove-style 16oz. canisters.)

Tai Chi Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art that focuses on slow, flowing movements, deep breathing, and mindfulness. It is often practiced for its health benefits, including improved balance, flexibility, and stress reduction. Rooted in traditional Chinese philosophy, Tai Chi emphasizes harmony between mind and body, incorporating principles of yin and yang. It is also used as a form of meditation in motion and can be practiced by people of all ages and fitness levels. Taught by Dave Norehad who has over 15 years of experience. They’re well past their intended lifespan and have taken a hit from years of deferred maintenance. While we were recently able to complete some much-needed emergency repairs on Courts 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, we are still working on some bigger upgrades in the near future.

We are hoping to fully replace all the tennis courts and the parking lot over the next four years. Why Golfers Shouldn’t Swing Wedges at Full Power If you’re new to golf, you’ve probably heard that wedges are “scoring clubs.”

That means they’re meant to help you hit short shots close to the hole, especially from inside 100 yards. But one of the most common mistakes beginners make is swinging their wedges as hard as they can. It might feel like more power = better shot, but that’s not true when it comes to wedges. The existing building is small and is in need of modernization. In addition, the capacity analysis of the existing winter operations identified a resort-wide seating deficit, which was particularly pronounced at the Snowflake location.”

Given these needs, IVGID has restarted community discussions and planning around the possibility of rebuilding Snowflake Lodge to meet the needs of the ski resort and community as the resort enters its seventh decade of operations.

potential Snowflake Lodge Replacement Project Snowflake Lodge at Diamond Peak Ski Resort is an iconic midmountain lodge offering panoramic Lake Tahoe views unrivaled in the Lake Tahoe area. Diamond Peak skiers and riders have enjoyed thousands of meals, après-ski beverages and special events at Snowflake, and many have asked why we don’t do more at the venue.

Renovations to the main Diamond Peak Base Lodge were last made in 2008; however, the Snowflake Lodge has never been upgraded since originally constructed in 1966 (other than the addition of more outdoor seating on the deck).

Skate Park Expansion At the July 30, 2025 IVGID Board of Trustees meeting, the Trustees approved an agreement with Spohn Ranch, Inc. to move forward with construction of the Skate Park Enhancement Project.

This project will add a new beginnerfriendly zone to the existing skate park, as well as address repairs and safety concerns within the current skate park layout.

Incline Beach House The Incline Beach House Project has a history dating back to 2016 and has undergone multiple planning iterations since its inception. As one of the largest capital improvement projects at the Incline Village beaches in many years, the Incline Beach House Project (project # 3973LI1302) will involve the tear down and rebuilding of the Incline Beach restrooms and food service building.

As of June 24, 2025: The DesignBuild Team at CORE Construction has submitted Design Development Drawings and will now proceed with Construction Drawings, which are scheduled for submission at the end of August. WASTE NOT PROGRAM Yard Waste/Pine Needle Recycling Waste Management (WM) continues to offer free curbside yard waste recycling in Incline Village and Crystal Bay during the program period. Each property may place properly stickered bags of yard waste less than 40lbs at their curb for collection this fall, September 29 – October 31. This program is for plant materials only; bags with excessive dirt, rocks, or pet waste will not be accepted and may be subject to additional charges from Waste Management. You can also drop off loose or bagged yard debris using the stickers at Incline Village Transfer Station. Loose drop-off is encouraged and reduces plastic bag contamination.
