I am involved in football, volleyball, Ambassadors for Christ Corps, Fellowship for Christian Athletes and the Polynesian Club at Cathedral Catholic.
So far, my favorite class has been Catholic Faith 9 with Mr. Frice. He is an amazing teacher who always allowed us to ask challenging questions to which he would respond truthfully and intelligently. He inspired us to learn.
Only at Cathedral Catholic High School is there a community so tight-knit like a family that is centralized and built on the people’s trust in Christ.
People come to Cathedral Catholic from all over San Diego and I consider myself very blessed to be able to have friends from Chula Vista to Oceanside. I value these relationships because I love learning about their cultures and backgrounds.

The Cathedral Catholic High School faith community is called to live the call of Jesus and reflect upon the Catholic values of charity, service and social justice. I am involved in Drama, Speech & Debate, cross country and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Scholarship Program at Cathedral Catholic.
My favorite class so far has been Speech & Debate Honors with Mr. Duarte. We attend tournaments outside of school and work as a team to make learning more exciting and interactive. It is also a fun, creative outlet.
Only at Cathedral Catholic High School do you find a multitude of faith and service opportunities, programs and clubs, which all branch out to their own field of expertise.
A beautiful thing I’ve found at Cathedral Catholic is the unique faith formation with my peers. Exploring my religious beliefs with people my age is such a meaningful way to grow in my faith. Each of us going through similar experiences makes me feel more comfortable in my own journey with God.

I am involved in track & field (Captain), Black Student Union, Lucky Ducklings Club, Ambassador for Christ Corps, football and rugby at Cathedral Catholic.
My favorite class so far has been Catholic Faith 10 with Mr. De Vera. I loved this class because Mr. De Vera really opened my eyes to a life of faith bigger than just praying and going to Mass. He taught me so much and connected with me on a deep level.

During my time at Cathedral Catholic, I was involved in the Options Program as a Peer Mentor, Student Life and Leadership (ASB), Ambassador for Christ Corps, National Honor Society (President), Eye Fight for Sight Club and Charity (Co-President), California Scholarship Federation, volleyball (beach & Indoor) and the Varsity Rowing Team.
My favorite class was AP Psychology with Mr. Caro. He is an amazing teacher who truly cares about each of his students. The class was very interesting and allowed me to learn so much about psychology.

My role as a Peer Mentor in the Options Program was one of my favorite experiences during my time as a student at Cathedral Catholic. I will always cherish the friendships I made and becoming an options mentor was by far the best decision I made throughout high school.

Cathedral Catholic High School is a college preparatory school accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Cathedral Catholic holds membership with the College Board.

PRE-ENGINEERING PROGRAM
Cathedral Catholic High School’s PreEngineering Program is designed to provide students with the skills needed to succeed in future Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics programs. It includes specialized courses in addition to high-level core courses. Upon graduation, students who have completed the 8 required courses will receive a “Graduated with a Distinction in Engineering” recognition on their diplomas.
IMMERSION TRIPS
Our rotational immersion trip program provides opportunities for our students to encounter other cultures, travel to pilgrimage sites and learn from underserved communities, both in the United States and internationally throughout their four years at Cathedral Catholic. SERVICE LEARNING
Cathedral Catholic students learn to embody faith through service, using their gifts and talents to “change the world.” This collective effort involves the entire Cathedral Catholic community—students and staff alike—working together to:

At Cathedral Catholic, all students participate in a comprehensive Service Learning Program led by the Mission and Ministry Office and supported by campus ministry student leaders. In partnership with Catholic Charities, students actively serve the local community, addressing food insecurity through their involvement in The Zak Myers
Food Pantry & Service Learning Center. This unique onsite service program fosters student awareness and compassion, embodying Christ’s call to serve those in need. Throughout their time at Cathedral Catholic, students engage in various community service opportunities in San Diego and culminate their service with a reflective Senior Service Capstone Project.
SPECIAL EDUCATION
Cathedral Catholic High School is committed to creating a supportive academic learning environment for all students including those with diagnosed learning differences through special education support. Students who qualify for special education support must have a diagnosed disability with an impact on learning through a PsychoEducational Evaluation.

Cathedral Catholic has partnered with Challenge Success, a non-profit school reform organization affiliated with the Stanford University Graduate School of Education. This partnership helps Cathedral Catholic implement practical, researchbased tools and strategies to create a more balanced and academically fulfilling life for all students.

ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Scholarship Program for incoming freshmen was established in 2021. These full four-year scholarships support students interested in attending Cathedral Catholic High School. The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Scholarship Program is designed to offer the opportunity of a Catholic secondary education to those who will truly embrace the opportunity to become their “best selves.”
Cathedral Catholic High School presently awards 10 full scholarships to outstanding young women and men who are selected from the annual President’s Scholars Day. These scholarships cover the cost of tuition and academic fees for the student’s entire four years of high school.

Cathedral Catholic High School strives to make Catholic secondary education affordable for our families. Through the generosity of our families, donors and parish communities, we raise funds that keep our tuition costs reasonable while providing all of our students with excellent teachers, coaches and moderators in state-of-the-art facilities.
Over four million dollars is budgeted annually for need-based tuition assistance, with approximately 40% of our student population receiving some level of tuition assistance.

THE DONS LEGACY
Cathedral Catholic High School has a rich heritage comprised of over 84 years and three campuses. Cathedral Girls High School, located in downtown San Diego, was founded in 1939. In 1970, Cathedral Girls merged with University of San Diego High School (UNI), founded in 1957, on the campus in Linda Vista. In 2005, UNI transitioned up to the Carmel Valley campus and took on its new name, Cathedral Catholic High School. No matter what campus you were on…Once a Don, Always a Don. The Dons Legacy has never been stronger. 50+ alumni are among the CCHS team of administrators, coaches, counselors, faculty and staff.

GET TO KNOW THE DONS FAMILY
Campus Tours
Campus tours are conducted by appointment. Tours are led by a member of our Office of Enrollment Team and a student ambassador. Parents and students are both encouraged, but not required, to take a tour.
Shadow Visits - “Don for a Day”
To get a firsthand look at a day in the life of a Don, we encourage 8th-grade students to spend a morning with a current student. During a Shadow Day, a future Don is paired with a current Don ambassador who will take the future Don to class, answer any questions and show the future Don around campus. Shadow visits are scheduled by appointment with the Office of Enrollment.
8th Grade Visitation Day - “Dons Day”
Each fall, Cathedral Catholic hosts 8th-grade students from around the county for a special event featuring presentations, a campus tour, classroom visits and a pep rally. RSVP is required to attend.
Student Life Showcase
Our Dons are blessed to have many opportunities to get involved and you can learn about them in the fall at our Student Life Showcase. Programs that will be featured include Student Life and Leadership (ASB), Athletics, Clubs, Drama, Honor Societies, Mock Trial, Music and Robotics/Engineering.
