United Colors of Maramureş
Aflată la cea de a V-a ediţie, tabăra internaţională de pictură intitulată inspirat şi sugestiv „Culori Unite în Maramureş” a fost organizată de colecţionarul de artă băimărean Radu I. Tărţan. Entuziast al esteticului, acesta a adunat în jurul său artişti feluriţi, sosiţi din diferite colţuri ale Europei. Fidel acestor locuri, dar şi mottoului său „Omul sfinţeşte locul, iar locul pune amprenta asupra omului”, împătimitul colecţionar a adresat invitaţia de participare la tabăra desfăşurată la Ocna Şugatag unui şir de pictori din Argentina, Austria, Elveţia, Danemarca, Polonia, România, Rusia, Slovenia, Ucraina şi Ungaria. Artiştii uniţi, conform titlului şi-au instalat tabăra şi de această dată, deasupra lacului „Sărat”, ca vreme de 9 zile să transpună în culori impresia, expresia şi autenticitatea locurilor maramureşene. Altfel decât de obicei, cu o privire proaspătă ca vântul răcoros venind brusc dinspre Creasta Cocoşului, vor descifra şi incrusta pe suprafeţe jocuri de lumini şi umbre lăsate de soarele capricios, sub acelaşi, etern cer maramureşean.
Now at its fifth edition, the international painting camp suggestively entitled „United Colors of Maramureş” was organized by the Baia Mare art collector Radu I. Tărţan. An enthusiast of estheticism, he gathered around him all sorts of artists from all corners of Europe. A faithful of these land, but also believing that man can make and break a place and th other way around, the art collector invited to the art camp in Ocna Şugatag a series of artists from Argentina, Austria, Swiss, Denmark, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Hungary. The united artists set their camp above the Salted Lake and, for nine days, transferred their impressions, expression and the authenticity of the place in colors. In a new take and with a novel gaze, matching the brisk and sudden wind tumbling down from the Rooster's Comb, they will decipher and damascene on various surfaces the games of light and shadow, left by the whimsical sun, under the same, eternal, heavenly Maramures.

. Artiştii vor urmări, aidoma ochilor lui Picasso bulbucaţi şi fără gene pentru a nu dosi cumva sau pierde vreun amănunt, care alcătuieşte complicatul mozaic, numit spectacolul vieţii. Diferit şi variat, aşa cum sunt capabili să-l perceapă. Cu bagaje de tradiţii cu care au fost înzestraţi şi cu priceperea şi harul cu care au fost dăruiţi... Se vor întoarce la ei acasă cu trăiri agonisite, emoţii acumulate şi inspiraţii culese, pentru a se închide în ateliere dând frâu liber imaginaţiei până la vară, până la următoarea ieşire în aer liber... Când ardenta pasiune a colecţionarului, supusul esteticului, gonit de nevoia procesului creator, dar şi cumpătat, cu raţiune de organizator va găzdui iarăşi artişti reuniţi sub auspiciile culorilor. Iar aceştia, lăsând în urmă casă masă, obligaţii şi griji cotidiene, precum coconii de pretutindeni vor reveni, pentru a reda pe albul imaculat al pânzei trăirile iscate de impactul cu locurile încă neatinse, nedescoperite, neexplorate, lăuntrice şi fireşti; ...spre bucuria ochilor şi a sufletului.
The artists will gaze upon the scenery, like Picasso, with his bulging eyes, without eyelashes, in order not to hide or somehow miss on any detail that makes up the complicated mosaic called the spectacle of life, different and varied as they are able to perceive it. Armed with the traditions and with the skills and grace with which they were endowed ... And they would go back home taking with them the things they felt, the emotions they collected, as well as the inspiration, they will lock themselves in their studios and let the imagination wild, until next summer, until their next painting camp outdoors... When the arduous passion of the art collector, subject to the esthetics and beauty, which they shun as the creative process required solitude and isolation, when the art collector's passion and organizing skills will get them together again, artists reunited under the sign of colors. And these mighty artists, leaving behind their homes, their dues and concerns, like children coming back home, will return, to give tribute to the canvas – their feelings, their inner experiences stemming from these still untouched, undiscovered, unexplored, natural places... ...to the joy of the eyes and soul.
