Adopt-a-family 2023

Every December, the ESC staff comes together to help support a family in the community that has fallen on hard times. In 2023, we all were Christmas elves for a grandmother and her young grandson, Noah. They were struggling after the tragic loss of grandpa and faced money concerns from the passing

Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this a truly magical Christmas for Noah and grandma! Every one of you helped to bring toys, games, learning materials, gift cards, slippers and more to create an experience of a lifetime for this family.

Thank you, again, to everyone for your kindness and generosity during this holiday season. Without you, we couldn’t make AdoptA-Family a Success!

Youth connections corner

Youth Connections program has been extremely busy and growing exponentially this 23-24 school year

We have been so lucky to be joined once a week by Julie Driskill with JobSeekers. She volunteers her time to teach SEL lessons and talk with our students. It has been incredible to have her with us each week!

I also want to highlight that one of our students is set to graduate! This is a HUGE accomplishment! We are all very proud and excited for this student.

Fast Five with Shauna Johnson

1. Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Springfield, and now I like in a rural area of Clark County with my husband Tim.

2. What are your hobbies?

Walking, working outside, music, reading, and history!

3. Favorite Food?

I really don't have a favorite food. My husband is an excellent cook, so I would have to say most anything that my husband makes

4. What book are you reading right now?

"Mrs. Kennedy and Me" by Clint Hill who was the Secret Service Agent assigned to protect Jacquline Kennedy.

5 What are you looking forward to in the new position?

I am excited about stepping outside of the field of real estate and being challenged. I am anxious to use my experience working with lots of people, paying close attention to detail, and working within an organized system, and applying it to my new role!

Treasurer’s Corner

The Treasurer's office is growing!

We are happy to welcome Shauna Johnson to our team She comes with 32 years of experience in the Title Loan world. She will be our new payroll specialist. She started mid March, so she is busy learning about how the ESC world works. We are reorganizing our office in order to keep up with the growth the ESC has experienced in the past couple of years because of all of your hard work to make the ESC so GREAT!! Stephanie Hudson will still be here to answer your payroll questions, but she will also be helping with office duties as the Assistant Treasurer. Sherri Wright is here to answer your questions regarding accounts payable and I will be here to assist you with any questions you might have.

Our doors are always open to help you with anything you need!

Purchasing Tips & Tricks

*With the end of the fiscal year fast approaching, the Treasurer’s office is starting the process of closing out FY24 Fiscal year ends June 30th, 2024.

*This might impact you because we stop approving Requisitions on April 1st so that we can get all the existing PO’s closed and paid. Please be sure to submit your requisitions in SCview that you may need before the cutoff.

*This year we tried a new approach with the hope it would make it more efficient for you to submit your Professional Development reimbursements. We opened one big PO for all services/ departments in order to make the process faster and get them paid in a timely manner.

Hopefully this helped you! If you can think of another idea that would help our office be more efficient, we’d like to hear from you!

Payroll Tips & Tricks

*Can you believe that we are approaching the end of the school year already? We will be board approving contracts for FY25 at the May board meeting and they will be handed out at the end of year gathering. If you have not already completed your intent form, that was sent by Scott, please do so ASAP so we can have your contract ready for you!

*Remember to turn in your timesheet by the due date outlined on the payroll schedule so that we can get payroll processed efficiently

*FYI- Did you know that you can contribute to both a 403b and 457 for a maximum of $23,000 each in 2024. If you are 50 or older you can contribute an additional $7,500 to each account This helps lower your taxable income!

Christmas at the Enon Campus

The Hallway Tree

Around the Christmas season, the teachers at CEC-Enon help students create their own handmade ornaments!

The ornaments are then put on display for all to see on the hallway tree. This is a yearly tradition for Enon and we look forward to seeing the creative tree every year!

Snowman Donuts

The students in Ms. Amanda’s class kept in the holiday spirit by making their own snowmen out of donuts, pretzels and other sweet treats.

As you can guess, those snowmen did not last long once the project was done! What a yummy way to get into the holiday season.
