THE BIG QUESTIONS (to discuss with your kids)
1. Our big word for this week is compassion. Look up the word “compassion” to see what it means. “Compassion” means “sympath[y... or] concern for the sufferings or misfortune of others” (Oxford Languages/Google). Another word for “compassion” is “mercy.” 2. How is compassion different than being kind? When we have compassion, we feel the hurt of the other person. Sometimes compassion shows itself when we say “I feel bad” for someone because of their circumstance. 3. Jesus used stories, or parables, to teach his people spiritual truths. After reading the parable of the Good Samaritan, what do think Jesus was teaching his people? Jesus used the parable of the Good Samaritan to show what it looks like to be compassionate. 4. Why didn’t the first two men stop to help the man who was hurt? They did not have compassion for him or any concern for his situation.
