Warriors of the Wind: Nonprofit is Using Motorcycles to Heal Veterans and Save Lives
In California’s Central Valley, where the roads run long and the skies stretch wide, a different kind of battalion is forming—not of soldiers, but of riders. These are the Warriors of the Wind, a grassroots movement of veterans, first responders, and supporters using motorcycles, nature, and community to fight something no one wants to talk about: suicide among our nation’s heroes. Based in Lemoore, Warriors of the Wind Foundation (WOTW) is a 509(a)(2) publicly funded nonprofit on a mission to reduce veteran suicide through proactive, unorthodox means—most notably, the healing power of group motorcycling.
“We’re tired of losing American veterans on American soil,” says the founder. “We believe the actual number of

daily veteran suicides is much higher than what’s reported. And we believe group motorcycling is one of the most powerful tools we have to do something about it.”
Why Bikes Matter
WOTW isn’t just a feel-good project—it’s a movement rooted in lived experience.

Veterans returning home often carry invisible scars: PTSD, anxiety, depression, survivor’s guilt. The founder knows this struggle firsthand.
“I’ve battled the dark stuff— depression, sleeplessness, anxiety. But what helped me heal the most was something surprising: group motorcycle rides with other veterans.
It’s therapy. It’s mindfulness.
It’s adrenaline, brotherhood, control—all the things you lose after combat, you rediscover in the wind.”
story. That’s data.”
Now, Warriors of the Wind is collecting stories—and turning them into action. From Lemoore to Lives Changed
On the ground in Lemoore, WOTW is doing good the old-fashioned way: one veteran at a time.

It’s a sentiment many in the biker community understand without explanation.
“I heard it again and again: ‘My motorcycle saved my life when I got back from Vietnam.’ That’s not just a captivating
• They’re providing wheelchairs, glasses, crafting hobbies, and grocery runs for elderly vets.
• They’ve launched a music program for the local homeless population with help from White’s Music Center in Visalia.
• They’ve become the bridge between veterans in need

Bike Night at Hanford
Richard Tilley EDITOR
On May 13th, I went to Bike Night in Hanford at Plan B on Fifth Street. It wasn’t that hot of a evening, which is good since I can’t breathe well when it gets hot. When we pulled up, David AKA Rooster was getting the BBQ all set up for the crowd coming out tonight.
Shortly thereafter, the Bikers started rolling in to show some support for Rooster, Plan B and Buffalo Soldiers. By 7 pm there was about 15 Motorcycles sitting outside of Plan B and a half dozen cars as well.
Most hangout on the back patio of Plan B socializing with others and having a good time. Quite a few supported Rooster BBQ
and got to enjoy the various kinds of BBQ meats.
Tri Tip, Brisket, Pork Ribs, Chicken or Hot Links. Beverages were available for purchase inside Plan B.
Around 8 pm, Rooster got the drawing going and the folks were excited as they waited to see if they had won anything. CC Biker give Rooster a few T-shirts to help with the drawing prizes.
Rooster’s BBQ, Buffalo Soldiers MC and Plan B put this bike Night on every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the Month until October. So, make some plans to attend and Support a few local businesses at the same time.

and the people who want to help—beds, couches, refrigerators, and support. Their modus operandi: “Our strength is in our numbers.”
“We started saying that about veterans. Now we say it about everyone who supports this mission— bikers, neighbors, nonprofits, mechanics, musicians.” One of the most powerful stories WOTW is telling belongs to Navy veteran James “Beta” Sease. After 39 years in isolation and grief following the deaths of two fellow sailors while deployed, Beta was discovered by WOTW and invited to heal—through community, storytelling, and motorcycles.
“We’re fixing up a bike donated by a 10-year Army vet. When it’s ready, Beta’s the recipient. He’s our first WOTW recruit—and living proof that it’s never too late to start healing.”
Lights, Camera, Wind Therapy To reach veterans who rarely leave their homes,
WOTW is doing something bold: producing a television miniseries.
The upcoming Warriors of the Wind docuseries—currently filming with veteran cinematographer Aarron Christopher Otis Reed—isn’t just entertainment. It’s a lifeline.
“A lot of the guys we lose, they’re alone. Isolated. Drinking and doing drugs. Watching TV. So we’re going to them, through the screen, to say: You matter. You’re not alone. We’re coming for you—with connection, purpose, and motorcycles.”
The pilot will be submitted to Angel Studios for viewing, voting by the Angel Guild, and potential funding. Regardless, the team is committed to making the miniseries happen, even if it means releasing it independently.
“We’re going to educate civilians and uplift veterans. If we do it right—and we will—this show could change everything.”
Join the Movement
WOTW is building a national initiative to gift 500 motorcycles to veterans

across all 50 states. They’re calling it the Motorcycles for Veterans program, and they need the help of the riding community to bring it to life. Here’s how you can support the mission:
• Bike Maintenance Help: WOTW’s donated mystery bike for Beta needs servicing.
• Motorcycle Donations: Got a bike with heart? They’ll put it to life-saving use.
• Product Support: Helmets, gear, accessories, or mechanical work welcome.
• Sponsor or Donate: Fuel the foundation financially or with goods/services.
• Co-Brand Events: Host a ride or fundraiser with WOTW.
• Partner Up: Align with the Motorcycles for Veterans program in your city. Donation Link: https:// www.paypal.com/ncp/ payment/S7FVFC6JLSPS6

Bike Night at Country Hub Café
Richard Tilley EDITOR
On Wednesday May 21st, I went to Bike Night put on by Warriors of the Wind Foundation. Dallas Poore has been doing a great job putting these together every first and third Wednesdays. These Bike Nights are being held at Country Hub Café located at 5020 19 ½ ave in Riverdale, California.
I was kinda late getting there because I had to let the temperature drop a bit so I could be outside and give them some support. With COPD it is hard to be outside when it is too hot.
When I arrived, there was
about 10 Motorcycles parked out front of Country Hub Café. It wasn’t a big crowd, but it takes time to get more folks to hear about the Bike Night to get them to come out. When it is hot outside it is harder to get folks to show up as well. They had several raffle prizes and folks were sitting around socializing with one another. It is fun to watch them drawing numbers and seeing people getting excited when they do win.
I didn’t get to stay as long as I planned due to not being able to breathe well in the warm

air. I hope to be able to attend a few more this year before the Bike Night are done for the season. It would be nice to see others coming out and helping this new organization. Dallas Poore is working hard to raise
funds to help out Veterans in need. So, if your free on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, think about sliding over and showing these folks a little Love and Respect. They are working hard to help other Veterans going through some rough times.
