Alumni Q&A Vanessa Perez Class of 2021

Vanessa is the executive director at the Time for Change Foundation. Vanessa began working there as an intern under the communications department and has worked her way up to Time for Change Foundation’s director. In her current role, she supports the implementation of the foundation’s strategic plans and policies and also provides leadership and management to staff in the areas of planning, programming, funding, marketing and administration. Q: Why did you want to study business administration? A: After two years of interning at a local radio station I met God, got saved and was introduced to an internship with a local nonprofit called Time for Change Foundation. I didn’t know it then, but God put this desire in my heart to get my MBA so that I would have the knowledge and understanding to help create programs that support low-income women with starting their own businesses.

A: I believe that CBU’s MBA program provided me with an enhanced understanding of what it means to run a business and what it takes as a manager/leader/director. Additionally, it provided the opportunity to create a network of peers that I can keep in contact with for future business opportunities and partnerships. Lastly, I believe it helped broaden my ability to critically think about situations and apply a more strategic, intentional lens to the work I do.
