“God has given you so many graces.” ~St. John Baptist de La Salle
DEAR FAMILIES: On behalf of the Christian Brothers High School community, it is my pleasure to welcome you all to the 2018-19 school year! As we embark on our 143rd year of Lasallian Catholic education in Sacramento, we are grateful for the trust you have placed in us as and mindful of the many graces God bestows upon us as your partners in preparing your sons and daughters for success in college and life. We are ready! Faculty members have been teaching summer classes, attending enrichment courses and training sessions designed to enhance the classroom experience for our students. Department heads and administrators have been charting classes and curriculum mapping to ensure the continued relevance and rigor of our course offerings. I personally had the privilege of attending my second year at the Buttimer Institute of Lasallian Studies at Manhattan College in New York City. This intensive three-year Lasallian formation and education program focuses on the life and work of St. John Baptist de La Salle and the origins of the Lasallian educational mission. This year focused on the educational vision of St. John Baptist de La Salle in terms of the contemporary Lasallian educational mission. We are blessed with a charism that is as alive and relevant as it was 300 years ago in France. St. John Baptist de La Salle was truly an innovator in recognizing that education means touching both the hearts and minds of the students entrusted to
our care. Each day, our talented educators bring to life the charism of St. John Baptist de La Salle, ever mindful of our Lasallian Core Principles of faith in the presence of God, quality education, inclusive community, concern for the poor and social justice, and respect for all persons. I am pleased to share with you that we are welcoming the following new faculty members and staff: Mr. Christian Bohm – Choral Director, Mr. Patrick Hayes – Religious Studies teacher, Ms. Jamie Ralph ‘12 – Athletic Trainer and P.E. teacher, Ms. April Peletta – English teacher, Ms. Clarisa Veras – Spanish teacher and Ms. Erin Wiley – Social Studies teacher. I believe that I speak for each of them when I say that they are eager for the year to begin and excited to meet your sons and daughters. I hope you enjoy these last two weeks of summer vacation and look forward to welcoming our new and returning families on August 16. Live Jesus in our hearts!
