FALCON FAMILY NEWS A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT DEAR FAMILIES: I write this letter after having had the blessing of spending a little time outside today during lunch. The sun was shining, music was playing, two spirited games of Spikeball were in progress, and a football was being tossed around…it was truly like something out of a movie…a beautiful moment. One of the students even commented “This really feels like a scene out of High School Musical!” To see this spiritually, ethnically, racially, and economically diverse group of young people outside on the green grass, bright blue sky, laughing, talking, playing, belonging…it was truly a vision of Christ’s kingdom on Earth.
In the meantime, thank you for entrusting us with your sons and daughters. We are working diligently to ensure that the sacrifices you are making for your children today – tuition, time, and example – will reap rewards long into the future. Live Jesus in our hearts.
Crystal LeRoy, Ed.M. President
Thank you for the blessing of your children. We recognize that you make tremendous sacrifices to send them to Christian Brothers High School. Our constant challenge is balancing mission-centered excellence with affordability. Recently, the Board of Trustees approved a tuition increase of 3.5 percent ($509). Tuition for 2022-23 will be $15,059 and the registration fee will remain $725 for a total of $15,784. While our tuition remains below the average for Catholic high schools in Northern California, we recognize this is significant. Please know that we work hard to thoughtfully invest your resources in your children’s education and work hard to improve efficiency, maintain distinction, and control costs. This increase allows us to attract, retain, and compensate the best educators while providing our students with an effective learning environment and outstanding programs. We recognize our tuition is a sacrifice for most families. We also recognize that it is prohibitive for some families. Our Lasallian Catholic mission calls for us to serve the poor while also ensuring that CB is accessible to modest and middle-income families. In 2021-22, we are distributing $3.3 million in need-based tuition assistance to 444 students. That is 39 percent of our student body. We expect these numbers to be similar in 2022-23. Tuition assistance comes from three sources: endowment earnings, fundraising efforts, and the operating budget. We are grateful to all of our parents, alumni and friends who support our fundraising activities. Ongoing support is critical to our mission! As such, I hope to see many of you at the annual auction on Saturday, March 19. We’re Off to the Races for what we pray will be our most successful fundraiser to date. This fun-filled, spirited event is critical in supporting tuition assistance and student programs.
