FALCON FAMILY NEWS A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT DEAR FAMILIES: Last month, the gates to the Peter P. Bollinger ’57 Stadium officially opened with a blessing and dedication ceremony. The festive celebration marked the culmination of the school’s Securing the Future Campaign. In just four and one-half years, CB alumni, parents, and friends contributed and pledged a remarkable $12.6 million to improve athletic facilities, parking and infrastructure, and grow the endowment. Thanks to the generosity of many, and the hard work of staff and volunteers, our student-athletes now have a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility that allows them to develop and showcase their Godgiven gifts. Further, our students, families, employees and guests have more on-campus parking available. We recognize that many of you make tremendous sacrifices to provide Lasallian Catholic education. I am pleased to share that the cost of the construction projects is exclusively funded by donors without the use of tuition dollars and without incurring long-term debt. Further, $2.6 million of the $12.6 million campaign is dedicated to growing the endowment which helps fund tuition assistance. Our Lasallian Catholic mission calls for us to serve the poor and we must also ensure that CB is accessible to modest and middle-income families. We embrace this opportunity. In 2019-20, we are distributing $2.8 million in need-based tuition assistance to 421 students. That is more than one-third of our student body. We expect these numbers to be similar in 202021. Tuition assistance comes from three sources: endowment earnings, fundraising efforts, and the operating budget. We are grateful to all of our parents, alumni, and friends who support our fundraising activities, including the Securing the Future Campaign. Your ongoing support is critical to our mission! Our commitment to prayerful and careful stewardship of school resources is steadfast. Recently, the Board of Trustees approved a 2020-21 operating budget which raises tuition and fees by a total of 3.5 percent. Tuition for 2020-21 will be $14,550 and the registration fee of $700 will remain the same. Our tuition
remains below the average for Catholic high schools in Northern California. Our constant challenge is balancing mission-centered excellence with affordability. Please know that we work hard to invest your resources well in your children’s education and work hard to improve efficiency, maintain distinction and control costs. On a practical note, we will again facilitate registration online and process tuition billing and collection using FACTS. As part of your registration for 2020-21, you will receive a link to set up your FACTS tuition account. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Cathy DeVera in our Business Office at 916-733-3644. We are grateful to partner with you in preparing your children for success in college and life. Our faculty, staff and administrators are working diligently to ensure that the sacrifices you are making for your children today – tuition, time, and example – will reap rewards long into the future. Live Jesus in our hearts,
Lorcan P. Barnes President
