This summer’s issue opens with one of the most spectacular homes we’ve brought to market in Oakville. The setting is outstanding, the architecture is deliberate, and every space feels balanced and complete.
Summer calls for slower afternoons, open doors, and a drink in hand, whether that’s a spritz or something zero-proof. Our feature on FeverTree leans into that rhythm. It’s about having the right essentials on hand so that hosting feels effortless, elevated, and unfussy.
Then it’s off to rural France, where Burgundy’s Morvan region invites a slower, more grounded adventure—less itinerary, more instinct. Think long walks, vineyard dinners, and the kind of

There’s a different rhythm to summer: more room to think, more clarity in how people are choosing to live, build, and invest. That thread runs through each of the stories in this issue.
We start at Porsche Centre Oakville, where the process is as considered as the product. There’s no push, just sharp execution, thoughtful service, and a team that understands what trust looks like.
La Casa Dolce brings that same care to an entirely different space. What began as a family bakery has grown with intention, never losing the character and standards that built its name. Their commitment to quality shows up in every detail—and just wait until you see their summer flavours and creations.
places that feel discovered, not designed.
The sub-penthouse at The Pearle Hotel in Burlington brings us back home with a different expression of luxury: fully finished, fully furnished, and move-in ready. With panoramic lake views and interiors styled by Cassis Design Studio, every detail is dialled in.
We close with a curated lineup of local summer events across Oakville and Mississauga. Easy ways to enjoy the season, whether you're staying close to home or hosting for the weekend.
We hope you enjoy this edition as much as we enjoyed creating it—ideally from somewhere poolside or dockside.
Our editorial on Vincent Massey Academy shifts the focus to education, where architecture, leadership, and long-term thinking shape something bigger than a school—it’s a vision.
And Lakewood Beach offers something rare: a private beachfront community on Lake Erie where buyers are securing lots to build custom homes for themselves and their families. No sales pitch—just a real opportunity to create something lasting, in a setting worth holding onto.
Thank you for reading—we hope you’re enjoying it with your feet up, something cold in hand, and the sun exactly where it should be.

Set behind wrought-iron gates and enveloped in mature trees, 1021 Lakeshore Road East is not simply one of the finest properties in South East Oakville—it is one of the most extraordinary private estates in the country. With nearly an acre of manicured land and over 163 feet of frontage along one of Canada’s most coveted streets, this is a residence that very few will ever step inside—and even fewer will ever have the opportunity to own.
Designed by Gren Weis and built by Coulson Fine Homes, the residence spans more than 10,000 square feet across three flawlessly constructed levels, all served by a private elevator. Millions have been invested in materials and infrastructure, including white oak floors finished on site, custom millwork throughout, and imported hardware sourced from heritage foundries in
France and Italy. Nothing about this home is ornamental. Every detail carries weight.
“This home wasn’t built for the market,” says Donna Gray, Listing Broker and Managing Partner at Cayman Marshall International Realty Inc., Brokerage (Oakville). “It was built to live beautifully, quietly, and forever. There’s a conviction in the choices here—like every element has a reason to exist.”
And those choices didn’t stop at the blueprint. The current homeowner, with deep experience in building, designing and furnishing high-end homes, recently reimagined the interiors with a modern lens— eliminating unnecessary frills, refreshing every wall with new paint, and furnishing the property exclusively with pieces from Restoration Hardware. The result is an atmosphere that finally matches the scale
and stature of the home: clean, current, and effortlessly elegant.
Gray, who has spent decades working with ultra-high-net-worth clients across Ontario, knows how rare this level of planning and execution truly is. “You don’t find homes like this. You find locations, you find square footage—but to have both, in a setting like this, with this level of restraint and detail... It doesn’t happen often. If ever.”
This stretch of Lakeshore Road is a destination unto itself. South East Oakville is already known for its generational wealth, proximity to the lake, and top-tier private schools—but this section, in particular, is where architecture becomes legacy. It’s where estates are quietly held, not sold. The land alone places this home in rarified company.
YOU DON’T FIND HOMES LIKE THIS. YOU FIND LOCATIONS, YOU FIND SQUARE FOOTAGE— BUT TO HAVE BOTH, IN A SETTING LIKE THIS, WITH THIS LEVEL OF RESTRAINT AND DETAIL... IT DOESN’T HAPPEN OFTEN. IF EVER.
“
Inside, the experience is cinematic in scale and execution. A grand foyer with Calacatta marble floors, Swarovski chandeliers and imported chandeliers sets the tone—weighty, precise, composed. The formal living and dining rooms are designed with symmetry and light, grounded by ceiling-height windows and softened with silk window treatments. The kitchen reads like a European design studio: dual Calacatta marble islands, Marana custom cabinetry, antique brass fixtures, and appliances by Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Miele. French doors open to the rear terrace with a glass dome, seamlessly extending the experience outdoors.
A paneled home office, dual powder rooms, and a prep-grade laundry suite round out the main floor. Every corner, every angle has been shaped with intention.
Upstairs, the private quarters are no less considered. The primary suite stretches across nearly the entire east wing, offering a dedicated sitting room, Juliet balcony, a dressing room with boutique-style lighting, and an ensuite wrapped entirely in marble. The steam shower, dual vanities, and imported nickel fittings turn daily routines into rituals. The additional bedrooms offer Bloomsbury cabinetry, imported stonework, and calming views over the property. Below grade, the amenities are substantial. A grand-scale billiards lounge, marble-clad wet bar with integrated appliances, a 900-bottle wine cellar, and an immersive media room provide limitless potential for entertaining. A spa wing, complete with heated limestone floors, a steam room, and full salon stationing, doubles as a fifth bedroom or private wellness suite.
“IT’S THE KIND OF HOME THAT LEAVES YOUR JAW ON THE FLOOR AT EVERY TURN,”
says Natalie Costello, Managing Partner and Sales Representative at Cayman Marshall. “From the moment you arrive at the gates to the sweep of the grand foyer, every space delivers something unexpected. Every room holds weight. And the backyard—layered, private, immersive—feels like a world of its own.”
The backyard is where the home truly takes on a life of its own. Professionally landscaped to balance structure with softness, the grounds unfold in curated layers. A saltwater pool is framed by a custom hot tub and cooling tub, all set in natural stone. A skylit terrace offers dining space beneath the canopy, while a glass-roofed gazebo allows for quiet conversation long after the sun has set. The lighting is subtle, purposeful. Irrigation is automated across 20 zones. Every inch of the exterior feels like an extension of the architecture.
“It’s not just the architecture or the address—it’s the calibre of everything behind the walls,” says Gray. “This home was built with the kind of foresight that only comes from experience and access. It was never about status—it was about getting every detail exactly right. That’s what puts it in a different league.”
Brought to market in June by Cayman Marshall with a $13 million asking price, 1021 Lakeshore Road East is not just a listing—it is one of the most consequential residential offerings in the country. Rare in scale, invisible from the street, and complete in its execution, it is the type of home that does not cycle through the market—it circulates in conversation.
Representing this estate is Cayman Marshall International Realty Inc., Brokerage—Canada’s leading authority on luxury real estate at the highest level. With flagship offices in Oakville, Muskoka, and Toronto, Cayman Marshall handles a private collection of the country’s most significant properties. Their name has become synonymous with discretion, access, and an unflinching standard of excellence.
“There are homes that impress,” says Gray. “And then there are homes that shift the standard. This one does exactly that.”
At Porsche Centre Oakville, the experience is defined not by barriers or exclusivity, but by a genuine passion for helping clients realize their dream car. Here, luxury is about more than access; it’s about expertise, hospitality, and the craft of creating something truly personal. The team brings together years of training and hands-on knowledge to guide each client through a bespoke design journey, making every build an expression of the individual behind the wheel.
Globally, only a limited number of Porsche Centres have earned the right to offer the Exclusive Manufaktur and Paint-to-Sample programs. This is one of them. Here, automotive precision evolves into something far more personal: a tailored creation that reflects the individual behind the wheel. There are no boundaries; just decisions. Paint colours drawn from exclusive collections. Interiors stitched to echo heirlooms. At this level, Porsche is not selected. It’s specified.
“The moment someone steps into our fitting lounge, we want them to feel inspired and at ease,” explains Daniel Minicucci, General Manager. “It’s an environment designed for creativity and collaboration, where clients are invited to explore possibilities and tap into the expertise of our team.”
The environment reflects that ambition. Every surface, material, and display is curated. Clients move from concept to creation surrounded by leather swatches, paint samples, and Porsche Design accessories rarely seen outside Stuttgart. But what truly defines the space is the approach—every consultation is a conversation, led by a team who genuinely enjoys sharing their knowledge and helping clients navigate the nearly endless options available. This is a studio for those with a clear point of view, or those ready to discover one.
“Our clients aren’t just buyers, they’re co-creators,” he continues. “It’s about shaping something that reflects their personal narrative.”
Oakville’s recognition as an Exclusive Manufaktur Partner comes with a standard that few achieve. The team’s training goes beyond technical knowledge, giving them the confidence and insight needed to guide clients through every aspect of personalization. That philosophy is evident in the architecture of the space, the rhythm of the consultations, and the attention to every detail.
Every element is considered, from the stitching on the seatbacks to the tone of the dashboard dials. With every project, the Oakville team focuses on understanding the client’s story and priorities, ensuring no detail is overlooked. It’s not about rushing or default choices—it’s about patience, craftsmanship, and true expertise at work. “Clients arrive with ideas,” says Minicucci. “But the design process often reveals something more focused, more nuanced than they expected.”
Performance may be foundational, but the deeper appeal is authorship. For some, that means building a GT car with motorsport-calibre features. For others, it means capturing a moment in time through a custom shade of paint or an interior detail that tells a story.
The process always begins with dialogue— interests, priorities, inspiration. From there, the direction emerges. “We listen carefully, ask questions, and draw from years of experience guiding clients through the Porsche personalization journey,” says Minicucci. “It’s a process built on trust and shared enthusiasm.”
Spring and early summer bring heightened interest, but truly personal builds require
more lead time. Six to twelve months is typical. For rare specifications, longer. “The earlier we begin the conversation, the more possibilities we can explore together,” he adds. “Creating something special is always worth the wait.”
When asked what configuration best defines the season ahead, Minicucci answers without hesitation: “A 911 Turbo S Cabriolet in striking Paint-to-Sample colour. Paired with a matching Porsche Design Chronograph.”
Not every standout shouts. “The Taycan GTS surprises people,” he adds. “With the right specifications, it’s a revelation. The Macan T, properly configured, offers a unique entry into the Porsche world with undeniable character.”
“For us, delivery is more than handing over the keys; it’s the culmination of a collaborative process,” Minicucci reflects. “Many clients stay in touch, return for new projects, or simply to share their driving experiences. It’s about building relationships as much as building cars.”
Craftsmanship, control, and intent speak to those who value design, regardless of category. “Porsche appeals to anyone who values thoughtful design, engineering, and the joy of creating something personal. We welcome both lifelong enthusiasts and those new to the brand,” he reflects. “It’s the pursuit of precision. The elegance of restraint. That resonates across disciplines.”
The Porsche Centre Oakville experience goes beyond the vehicle itself. The team regularly hosts special events, private unveilings, and hands-on workshops for clients who want to deepen their understanding of Porsche’s heritage and personalization possibilities.
Whether you’re ready to commission your first Porsche or simply want to learn more about the process, the Porsche Center team is always happy to connect. To start your journey or arrange a visit to their fitting lounge, contact Bill Strumos, New Car Sales Manager, bstrumos@policaro.ca
You can have the best tequila, the rarest rum, the most revered vodka, but if the mixer falls flat, so does the drink. Fever-Tree understood that long before the world caught on. They approached the mixer not as an accessory, but as the foundation, transforming how we build, savour, and share cocktails. For years, mixers were an afterthought—overlooked, underdeveloped, and mass-produced with little regard for taste, texture, or quality. Then came Fever-Tree. With a single bottle of Premium Tonic Water, they sparked a global rethink: if three-quarters of your drink is the mixer, why not make it exceptional?
From that spark, Fever-Tree reshaped the cocktail experience. Whether you are building a dockside bar cart or hosting sunset cocktails at the cottage, the mixer in your glass now says as much about your taste as the spirit it is paired with.
“If ¾ of your drink is the mixer, mix with the best,” says Alexis Green, National Marketing Manager for Fever-Tree Canada. The phrase speaks to the brand’s deeper philosophy, one that prioritizes quality, integrity, and a commitment to elevating the way we drink.
Fever-Tree now offers 16 flavours in Canada alone, from crisp Elderflower Tonic to bold Premium Ginger Beer, sundrenched Sparkling Pink Grapefruit to just-launched cocktail mixers like Classic Caesar, Margarita, and Mojito. Available in elegant bottles and travel-friendly cans, each option is built for bold flavour and effortless hosting. “There truly is a Fever-Tree for everyone,” Green adds.
The new luxury is laid-back but intentional. And nothing captures that more than the ritual of a well-made drink on the dock. It is the soft clink of ice in a glass, the citrus mist of a fresh garnish, and the way conversation slows under a pink sky. Picture it: sun slipping behind the trees, condensation on your glass, the scent of citrus and summer air—what you’re drinking should be just as considered. Fever-Tree understands this rhythm and has become the quiet centrepiece of elevated summer entertaining.
“With Fever-Tree’s wide range of flavours and convenient formats, it fits into any occasion, whether you’re at home, at the cottage, poolside, or hosting an elevated outdoor gathering,” says Green.
Their canned line has become a summer staple. “They’re the perfect size for a single cocktail and ideal for on-the-go enjoyment—picnics, golf carts, BBQs, you name it.”
A purposeful garnish is one of the easiest ways to elevate a drink.
“Garnish should always serve a purpose and elevate the drink, but it is also a great opportunity to have fun and get creative,” Green says. A sprig of lavender in your gin and tonic, or an olive-tomato-feta skewer in your Caesar—these aren’t just aesthetic choices. They add flavour, visual impact, and dimension to the drinking experience.
With Fever-Tree, creating an elevated cocktail takes little more than your preferred spirit and a thoughtful garnish.
For the gin lovers: Elderflower or Mediterranean Tonic.
For tequila: Classic Margarita mix or Sparkling Pink Grapefruit.
For vodka: Classic Caesar mix or Sparkling Sicilian Lemonade.
For rum: Classic Mojito mix with a hit of fresh mint or Premium Ginger Beer.
Going alcohol-free? Try espresso with tonic, pineapple juice with ginger beer, or Sicilian Lemonade with basil. For a quick non-alcoholic cocktail, serve the Classic Caesar mixer over ice as-is, or top the Margarita and Mojito mixers with a splash of club soda for a bright, balanced finish.
Every well-stocked summer bar cart should include three essentials: Elderflower Tonic, Premium Ginger Beer, and Distillers Cola. These cover everything from refreshing G&Ts to bold, nostalgic mixers.
Every Fever-Tree product is made with naturally sourced ingredients. No artificial colours, flavours, or sweeteners. Even the Light line maintains its full flavour while offering a lower-calorie option.
“Premium ingredients are everything,” Green explains. “We are also proudly non-GMO certified.”
Just as important is carbonation. The ultra-fine bubbles in Fever-Tree mixers enhance texture, carry aroma, and create the brand’s smooth, signature finish.
And the quinine? It is still sourced from the bark of the Cinchona tree—once used to treat malaria, and the very plant that gave Fever-Tree its name.
From bottle to cap, Fever-Tree has built sustainability into its process. “Our Five Branches—climate, conservation, communities, circular economy, and colleagues—are how we hold ourselves accountable,” Green says. Their bottles and cans are fully recyclable, and they actively support causes like One Tree Planted and Malaria No More.
Fever-Tree lives beyond the bar, aligning with luxury, design, and culture. Collaborations with DeanDavidson, Umbra, DavidsTea, and Beyond NOA reflect a brand that fits into how people live, not just how they drink. Its presence spans the PGA Golf Tour, Formula 1, the Diageo World Class cocktail finals, and even screen time on shows like The Perfect Couple.
As more people lean into wellness and moderation, Fever-Tree continues to lead. “The no- and low-alcohol space is no longer a trend—it is a lifestyle,” Green notes. The brand has hosted seminars at cocktail festivals to help educate consumers and bartenders alike.
So what should it feel like to crack open a chilled Fever-Tree on a hot summer day?
“Satisfaction and enjoyment,” Green says. “It is about that moment of pure refreshment, where everything feels just right.”
Available at Metro, Loblaws, Sobeys, Amazon, and independent retailers across Canada, Fever-Tree has made the best part of cocktail culture easier to access than ever.
Build the bar cart. Pour with purpose. And host like you mean it.
AN EXCLUSIVE GATED COMMUNITY ON LAKE ERIE IS NOW SELLING
Something extraordinary is happening on the shores of Lake Erie.
Just minutes from Port Colborne—and within reach of Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, and the GTA—a private, gated beachfront community is quietly taking shape. Introducing Lakewood Beach: a rare
opportunity to own freehold beachfront property along an uninterrupted stretch of sandy shoreline. And now, it’s officially selling.
With six lots already sold and eight more under reservation (as of May 2025), early buyers are securing their place in what’s quickly becoming one of Ontario’s most talked-about waterfront developments. Unlike the rocky or marshy edges that line much of the Great Lakes, Lakewood Beach offers over 600 metres of uninterrupted, walkable sand. It’s the kind of shoreline
where morning coffee is enjoyed with your toes in the surf—and where generations of family memories are meant to unfold.
“There’s no overselling required when it comes to beachfront,” says Donna Gray, Broker and Managing Partner at Cayman Marshall International Realty Inc, Brokerage (Oakville Office), the exclusive brokerage representing the development. “People understand how rare it is to find freehold land with soft sand underfoot, gated access, and without the hassle of driving two, three, or even four hours to get there. This is
a rare combination—and people are moving quickly.”
Located less than 90 minutes from Oakville and just over an hour from both Hamilton and the Niagara region, Lakewood Beach appeals to families seeking a unique retreat—without sacrificing accessibility.
The community is made up of just 41 lots—33 directly on the beach, and 8 with waterviews. Each lot ranges in size to accommodate homes between 2,800 and 4,400 square feet, all carefully posi-
tioned to maximize views, privacy, and long-term value. Prices begin in the high $900,000s—a compelling opportunity given the scarcity of true beachfront property in Ontario.
“This is for people who want to create something timeless,” says Natalie Costello, Sales Representative and Managing Partner at Cayman Marshall International Realty Inc., Brokerage (Oakville Office). “For some, it’s a summer home. For others, it’s a full-time retreat. And for many, it’s about building something their children and
grandchildren will one day inherit.”
While most buyers are planning custom builds, the development team is also exploring the release of up to eight turn-key beachfront homes through a reputable builder. If finalized, these pre-construction residences could become available as early as Summer 2025, offering a streamlined path to ownership for those who prefer a move-in-ready option. Pricing is anticipated to start in the low-to-mid $2 million range, with all homes designed to meet the same high architectural standards that define the community.
Lakewood Beach was designed to feel private, secure, and effortless. Homeowners enjoy full freehold ownership paired with the ease of professionally managed amenities. Private roads, shared green spaces, and beach areas are maintained year-round— ensuring residents enjoy the lifestyle they came for, without the upkeep they didn’t.
Architectural guidelines protect the visual character and value of the community,
ensuring a consistent and elevated streetscape—even as each home remains fully custom. Buyers also have access to a trusted list of builders familiar with the site and its design framework.
From the layout of the lots to the preservation of natural green space, every element of Lakewood Beach has been thoughtfully curated. This isn’t just a development—it’s a community built to last.
High-income families, especially in the GTA, are rethinking how they invest in real estate. Many are moving beyond seasonal cottages three or four hours away in favour of properties that offer year-round access, deeper personal connection, and longterm enjoyment.
Lake Erie is emerging as one of Ontario’s smartest waterfront investments. It offers fewer crowds than Muskoka or Prince Edward County, yet is surrounded by estab-
lished towns like Port Colborne and Fort Erie. The region also boasts easy access to Niagara’s wineries, marinas, and golf courses, and it is just 20–30 minutes from U.S. border crossings and 60–90 minutes from major international airports.
And while other waterfront areas have become overdeveloped or suffer from poor water quality, Lakewood Beach has protected what matters most: privacy, walkability, clean sand, and open lake views.
The appeal of Lakewood Beach spans generations. Some buyers are building large family homes for year-round living. Others are creating seasonal retreats to be passed down over time. What unites them is a shared appreciation for space, setting, and permanence.
“There’s something powerful about watching your kids run barefoot on the same beach you grew up coming to,” Natalie adds. “These are the kinds of places where family history begins. They’re not buying for one season—they’re buying for decades.”
Unlike properties tied up in co-ownership models or limited by seasonal access, Lakewood Beach offers the freedom of true ownership. Build what you want. Use it when you want. And know it’s yours—now and into the future.
With inventory tightening and word spreading, Lakewood Beach won’t stay a secret for long. And with fewer than 35 estate lots now remaining, this is a limited opportunity to own in a beachfront community unlike anything else in the province.
Whether you’re building your family’s summer retreat, downsizing from city life, or investing in a property that offers both emotional and financial return, Lakewood Beach offers something lasting—without compromise.

“There’s something powerful about watching your kids run barefoot on the same beach you grew up coming to.”
Before you even see it, you smell it—the rich, dark notes of freshly brewed espresso mingling with the buttery warmth of pastries in the air. The ovens at La Casa Dolce have been on for hours, and the day is only just beginning. Tucked into the heart of Mississauga, where the hum of city life meets the rhythm of community, this family-owned bakery is where tradition and innovation come together—and where every creation tells a story.
What began in 2006 as a basement cake operation has since become one of Canada’s most celebrated bakeries. Founded by three brothers—Steve, David, and Andrew Viola—La Casa Dolce is rooted in Italian heritage, shaped by family values, and fueled by an enduring passion for the craft. “Starting a bakery requires dedication, sacrifice, and relentless commitment,” says David. “Early mornings, late nights, and endless hours perfecting flavours… Every long shift and missed celebration is driven by purpose, knowing that creating something meaningful makes every sacrifice worth it.”
Today, La Casa Dolce is known across the country for its custom cakes—elaborate, handcrafted centrepieces that reflect the unique personality of each client. “When a customer wants a custom cake, they sit down with the cake coordinator to share their ideas and vision,” David explains. “From flavours to design, every detail is carefully crafted to bring their concept to life.” These cakes are more than dessert— they’re storytelling pieces, sculpted and painted with the same precision and pride as any art form.
Their team has created statement cakes for celebrities, major corporations, and families marking life’s biggest milestones— from weddings and christenings to retirements, birthdays, and anniversaries. “Designing for high-profile clients demands precision, creativity, and adaptability,” says David. “You learn that storytelling isn’t just reserved for words—it can be expressed through food, transforming a cake into a true statement piece.” Whether it’s a towering wedding cake with architectural features or a birthday cake with lighting and movement, each design brings a client’s story to life in edible form.
Every cake begins with inspiration—sometimes a theme, other times a memory or colour palette—and is guided by a structured but imaginative process. There’s concept development, flavour pairing, structure planning, and, finally, the baking and finishing touches. “Making a custom cake is a blend of artistry and culinary skill. It’s about turning a vision into an edible masterpiece,” David explains.
Of course, flavour is as important as form. With bold ingredients like espresso, pistachio, and ricotta, and delicate techniques inspired by old-world pastry-making, every bite pays homage to the brothers’ Italian roots. These classic flavours are often fused with seasonal or modern influences, allowing the team to strike a perfect balance between heritage and evolution. “We’re always staying ahead of the latest baking trends, constantly innovating to bring fresh, exciting creations to our customers,” says David.
At the heart of La Casa Dolce’s legacy is Steve Viola, known affectionately as the “Cake Boss of Mississauga.” A visionary and a driving force behind the bakery’s expansion, Steve’s contribution went beyond cakes. With a rare mix of creativity and business acumen, he championed everything from finance and operations to design and product innovation. “Our motto is inspired by our late brother, Steve Viola,” says David. “‘Leaders don’t create followers—they strive to create more leaders.’”
Every order is personal to us because we know it’s personal to you
His presence is still felt in every part of the bakery—from the culture to the craftsmanship. Steve was known for encouraging experimentation, mentoring staff, and pushing boundaries. He believed in building a business with soul, one that stayed connected to its community and never compromised on quality. Though he’s no longer here, his influence lives on in every decision the team makes and every product they serve. “He would be immensely proud of his brothers for carrying forward the vision we all built together,” says David.
While cakes are the cornerstone, La Casa Dolce’s offerings extend far beyond. From freshly baked pastries and cookies to savoury sandwiches, pies, and specialty drinks, the bakery operates as a full-service café—welcoming guests to sit, savour, and connect. The space itself is warm and inviting, designed to feel like an extension of the home. The coffee is strong, the staff friendly, and the display cases gleam with vibrant pastries and glossy, sugar-dusted treats.
It’s the kind of place where people come to mark a moment—or escape one. Students sip cappuccinos while studying. Families pop in for after-school cookies. Friends gather for espresso and gossip.
“La Casa Dolce has deep community roots,” says David. “The bakery was founded on family values and a genuine love for the community, as the owners have been born and raised in the City of Mississauga.” Over the years, the bakery has remained involved in local festivals, schools, charities, hospitals, and food banks—earning its place as more than just a neighbourhood institution, but a cultural fixture.
The bakery’s momentum hasn’t slowed. With nearly 20,000 Instagram followers and 1,200 five-star reviews, recent honours include being named Best Pastry Shop in Mississauga (2024) by the Quality Business Awards and a Top Pick in CommunityVotes Mississauga. These achievements speak not only to the team’s talent, but to the trust, consistency, and connection they’ve built over time.
The team’s internal culture is as intentional as the product itself. “We ensure that we build strong fundamentals,” says David. From step-by-step protocols and hands-on training to experimentation and seasonal inspiration, the goal is to encourage creativity while maintaining rigorous standards. “Every order is personal to us because we know it’s personal to you.”
Looking forward, La Casa Dolce is focused on expanding its impact—both inside and outside the kitchen. Plans include hosting family celebrations, introducing baking classes, and upgrading equipment to meet growing demand. “We’re committed to evolving and bringing even more to our community in the near future,” says David.
But their vision goes deeper than growth. “We want to be remembered not just for our cakes,” David adds, “but for preserving our Italian family traditions—keeping culture alive through every recipe, handmade creation, and shared moment.”
In a world of mass production, La Casa Dolce remains a shining example of what’s possible when passion meets purpose. “Our bakery is more than a business. It’s a craft, a tradition, and a personal touch you won’t find in mass-produced brands. While brands focus on uniformity and efficiency, our bakery embraces creativity, skill, and the uniqueness of handmade baking. Every loaf, cake, and pastry carries history, passion, and the love of real artisan baking—creating an experience that goes beyond just food for our customers.”
La Casa Dolce has become a place people return to—for the flavour, the feeling, and the familiarity. There’s a comfort in the way everything is done here: with care, with precision, and with purpose. Whether you’re celebrating something extraordinary or simply savouring the everyday, it offers a kind of experience that feels personal and rare. For those who haven’t been yet, it’s worth making the time. For those who have, it’s easy to understand why they keep coming back.

Gray’s leadership in the luxury market is well-established; her recent record-setting sale of units 303/304 at The Coventry
in Oakville redefined the ceiling for condominium sales in the region.
Now on the market, suite 2101 offers a rare chance to own a fully custom, design-forward waterfront home—one where the architecture, interiors, and setting are in perfect conversation.
The layout is meticulously planned: three bedrooms, each with a private ensuite, plus a home office, wine cellar, and walk-in laundry room with sink. Dual entrances allow for discreet separation between living and sleeping quarters.
Natural light is central to the layout. Panoramic views track from the CN Tower across the lake to the Niagara Escarpment, with floor-to-ceiling glass framing the shoreline. The architecture doesn’t compete with the setting—it amplifies it. Across the home, the experience is quiet and linear. Spaces connect without interruption.
The lounge, enclosed in glass on three sides and suspended above the lake, is one of the home’s defining elements. Sunrises set the walls aglow. Evenings shimmer in reflected moonlight. Storms become performances. It is the emotional centre of the home—a space that slows time.
But beyond the architecture is the atmosphere—and that’s where Cassis Design Studio steps in.
Cassis, Cayman Marshall’s sister company, was entrusted to craft the visual and emotional identity of this home. Their philosophy of “CCR”—Calm, Comfortable, and Relaxing—is not a tagline, but a process. Nothing is performative. Everything is purposeful.
“THE INTENTION WAS TO CREATE A MOOD OF UNDERSTATED
says Tary Roossien, Cassis’ lead decorator. “To let the space breathe, let the views speak, and let comfort lead.”
The result is atmospheric. Imagine yourself in a custom wood-framed chaise, warm oak underfoot, a linen throw nearby, the lake stretched out like a canvas through floorto-ceiling windows. These are spaces de-
signed to impress—but also to welcome, soften, and slow.
Custom furnishings anchor each room with texture and permanence. A hushed, tonal palette carries you effortlessly from room to room, balanced by tactile materials that invite interaction. Every corner is composed, yet quietly alive.
“We don’t design for design’s sake,” says Katie Arnold, Cassis’s Director of Curation “Our team designs to shape experiences— to make your space work harder, feel better, and live longer.”
The primary suite is bathed in light and framed by ever-shifting lake views. Its ensuite is more ritual than routine: radiant heated floors, gold hardware, and a lake-facing walk-in shower for moments of pause.
In the dining area, thoughtful function meets soft intimacy. A custom bar and secondary dishwasher make entertaining seamless. Restoration Hardware lighting adds quiet structure, and wide-plank hardwood flooring flows throughout the home, connecting each space with visual harmony.
And with that comes full access to Cassis Design Studio. Each project begins with an in-depth consultation and evolves into a tailored visualization package. Every decision—every layer—is driven by how the homeowner lives, not by what the market expects.
That ethos is felt in every detail of suite 2101. A home that doesn’t just elevate expectations—it reshapes them. It’s not a backdrop. It’s a statement. And for those who recognize it, it’s an invitation to live at a higher standard.
Discretion, exclusivity, and lifestyle define Bridgewater. One of the few residential opportunities integrated into a luxury hotel environment outside downtown Toronto, the Bridgewater Private Residences attract those seeking elegance without density— privacy without isolation.
At 2060 Lakeshore Road, ownership extends beyond the home itself. Residents have privileged access to The Pearle Hotel’s world-class amenities: a full-service spa, gym, café, pool, Isabel’s restaurant, in-room dining, and curated resident events. These aren’t extras. They are thoughtfully woven into the daily experience. It’s luxury with infrastructure—not just branding.
For affluent buyers, the appeal lies in what isn’t obvious. There’s no spectacle. Instead, there’s quiet luxury: concierge service without intrusion, waterfront living without compromise, and design that supports rather than distracts. Here, the architecture aligns with the priorities of a discerning few: calm, clarity, permanence.
The Bridgewater district has redefined Burlington’s downtown shoreline. With direct access to the Waterfront Trail and Spencer Smith Park, and moments from boutique shopping, fine dining, and marina access, the neighbourhood blends smallcity charm with big-city polish. Toronto is a 40-minute drive away, and Pearson Airport is accessible within the hour. Yet the atmosphere here remains deliberately local, curated, and walkable.
This stretch of Lakeshore Road is Burlington’s most prestigious corridor, and for good reason. Framed by Lake Ontario to the south and vibrant, mature neighbourhoods to the north, it offers both connection and seclusion. The city’s investment in its waterfront continues to enhance the area’s value—both financial and experiential. 2060 Lakeshore Road is offered at $5,299,000 by Donna Gray of Cayman Marshall International Realty.

France’s Burgundy region evokes images of the finest Cote de Nuits, rows of grapevines, and lush countryside. One of France’s most important wine-producing regions, it’s a popular destination for wine lovers and tourists alike. Also known for its famous cuisine, it’s where you will find the best coq au vin and beef bourguignon in all of France. You
can take a tour of some of the country’s finest wine cellars, stroll the charming streets of Chablis or Flavigny, or visit the famous Hotel-Dieu in Beaune and the Ducal Palace in Dijon.
But in this region of Burgundy, you might find yourself elbow-to-elbow with throngs of tourists and discover it’s not easy to
book your hotel or restaurant of choice. So why not buck the trend and treat yourself to the pleasures and beauty of a lesser-known area of Burgundy, the Morvan?
Located halfway between Paris and Lyon, the Morvan Regional Natural Park (Parc Naturel Regional du Morvan) is easily accessible by car or train. Created in 1970,
this 700,000-acre natural park consists of gorgeous woodlands, lakes, rivers and farmland. From the 16th to 19th centuries, its forests were a major source of lumber for Paris, but today it is a haven for wine tasting and fine dining. If you like to tour, you’ll find magnificent churches, perfectly restored medieval castles, and fascinating archaeological sites. A paradise for those
who love the outdoors, it is criss-crossed with hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails for every level of experience, all wellmarked and easy to follow.
Let’s take a tour!
The headquarters of the Morvan Regional Natural Park, this buzz of activity is a great place to start your voyage. Located in St. Brisson, it is a 100acre center of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and education that includes a barefoot discovery trail, botanical garden, arboretum, ponds, and animals of all types. You’ll also find a visitor’s center, shops, and a restaurant offering local and organic dishes.
Perhaps most important, you can learn about the crucial role the Morvan played during World War II as an epicenter of resistance at its two museums, the Musée de la Résistance en Morvan and the Maison des Hommes et des Paysages.
Whether by car or on foot, you can follow the footsteps of pilgrims as they made their way to and from the hilltop church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine in Vezelay. Both the town and the church are listed World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The 12th century monastic church, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture, marks the starting point of one of four Camino de Santiago routes through France that end at the Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. It stands proudly atop the “eternal hill,” and can be seen from miles around in every direction.
Spend some time in the church, filled with Romanesque art and architecture, vaulted ceilings, massive pillars and semi-circular arches, then stroll through the streets of the 12th-century village of Vezelay, where you can take in medieval buildings and spot the remains of ramparts, as well as visit its many shops, cafes, and art galleries. Keep an eye out for the scalloped shells which were laid on the main street by the pilgrims as they began their walk on the Camino to their final destination in Spain.
In France, it’s common for restaurants to have rooms for rent, or for hotels to include a restaurant. After all, these establishments are descendants of the classic auberge, a rural inn where travelers could stop for a meal and get a good night’s rest. Offering food and lodging to guests is a long-standing tradition—an example of French hospitality, or “accueil” (welcome) as a core value.
Here is a look at some of the best places to eat and sleep in the Morvan, a selection with a wide range of prices and experiences.
If you want to experience living like French royalty, if only for a few days, check out the Château de Vault-de-Lugny, a historic 5-star hotel nestled between the quaint town of Pontaubert and the hamlet of Vault-de-Lugny at the northern tip of the Morvan. Owned and operated by Pascal and Elisabeth Bourzeix, this is an impeccably restored 400-year-old chateau. Built on the site of a medieval castle dating back to the early 12th century, this 100-acre estate features a moat, drawbridge, and the original dungeon constructed in 1320, an outstanding example of medieval military architecture. The beautifully appointed rooms, complete with period art and furniture, offer a price range to suit practically any budget. Here you can expect the very best in French hospitality from the gracious and knowledgeable staff.
Stroll through the grounds and organic vegetable garden, take a dip in the luxurious indoor pool, or settle on the vast lawn with a glass of Chablis and watch as exotic birds strut their stuff. If you’re in the mood for exercise, take the three-milelong footpath that wanders through the property, or, if you’re really ambitious, hike the well-marked trail to top of Montmarte, which overlooks the property, and then on to Vezelay.
Make sure to book a table at the Chateau’s fabulous Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Valucien. Housed in a floor-to-ceiling glass-enclosed annex, with views of the tranquil moat and surrounding fields dotted with grazing animals, the room serves what might very well be the best dinner you’ve ever experienced in France. It is overseen by Chef Franco Bowanee, whose exquisite meals are elegantly crafted with a mix of regional Burgundy products, vegetables from the organic garden, and spices imported from his home country, Mauritius. You are sure to enjoy the magnificent pastries crafted by Chef Bowanee’s wife, Karina.
Approximate Price range:
Meals: Tasting menu €100 to €230 Lodging: €300 to €826 https://lugny.fr/
Just outside of Avallon is Le Moulin des Ruats, a delightful restaurant and three-star hotel perfectly sited on the Cousin River. Originally an historic 18th century watermill, it was transformed into a guesthouse in 1917. It offers 25 tastefully decorated rooms, many of which feature exposed wooden beans, period furniture, and views of the delightfully babbling river. It is owned by Chloe Jodelet and her husband, chef David Landriot Jodelet, whose reputation as a great pastry chef is well-earned. His artful interpretation of traditional Burgundy cuisine reveals the influence of the years he spent in Signapore and China.
You can dine in the casual restaurant looking out at an ancient watermill, or on the shaded terrace that is perched close to the river. Another plus is that the establishment is committed to environmental stewardship.
Approximate Price Range:
Meals: €50
Lodging: €93 to €145 www.moulindesruats.com
For a more rustic experience, drive south to the magical town of Quarre-les-Tombes, so named from the scores of Merovingianera sarcophagi, dating from the 7th or 8th century, that rest in the courtyard of the Church of Saint-Georges. In this charming village you will find local stores and a superb chocolate shop featuring homemade candies and jams. If you arrive on a Sunday afternoon, you will have the chance to sample a freshly made gaufre as part of the regular activities on the town square.
Make a reservation at Le Morvan for an outstanding dining experience. Owned and operated by Chef Etienne Robbe, this restaurant serves traditional Burgundy dishes with a refined and inventive flair. With a menu that highlights seasonal and local produce, its signature dishes include Iberian pork tenderloin with Chablis beer and gingerbread, Norwegian cod with Espelette pepper and Iranian saffron, and a selection of local cheeses, including the esteemed Epoisse. The restaurant has been awarded the Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide, indicating high-quality food at a reasonable price.
If you are too tired to drive after your sumptuous meal, book one of three-star establishment’s eight individually decorated rooms with gorgeous views of the Morvan’s Foret au Duc.
Approximate Price Range: Meals: €38 to €70
Lodging: €98 https://www.hotel-lemorvan.com/
A few miles out of town you will come to the three-star lodge, L’Auberge de L’Âtre, a charming countryside retreat with seven tastefully decorated but modest rooms. Its main draw is the restaurant of the same name, operated by Francis Salamolard, “maître restauranteur,” who is known for his appreciation of the Morvan terroir and his skillful preparation of game in the fall. His menu showcases local specialties such as oeufs en meurette avec lardons and sandre (pike-perch) with seasonal mushrooms.
Approximate Price Range:
Meals: €36 - €50
Lodging: €90–€100 https://auberge-de-latre.com/
As you plan your next trip to France, make sure you include the Morvan as part of your travels. After a few days of exploring Paris or Lyon, drive or take the TVG train to the Morvan Regional Natural Park for a once-in-a-lifetime wining and dining experience. You will also be able to take in world-class historic sites and discover endless opportunities for hiking, biking, and rafting. This hidden gem in Burgundy will reward you with natural wonder and an opportunity for culinary indulgence, all without the crowds.
One private school in Etobicoke is shaping confident, curious, and compassionate leaders, starting from their very first steps.
The earliest years of school are often the most underestimated, yet they shape everything that follows. The starting point matters: it defines pace, expectations, and the emotional framework that shapes a child’s relationship with learning. For families who understand that early education sets the tone for a lifetime of learning, Vincent Massey Academy (VMA) represents an intentional choice for families who value early education. Since 1985, VMA has delivered an academic experience that goes beyond instruction,
fusing rigour, creativity, and care into the most influential years of a child’s life.
Serving students from toddler age through Grade 6, VMA offers a rare combination: a progressive, inquiry-led curriculum designed specifically for early and elementary learners, paired with an environment built for intellectual depth, personal growth, and lasting connection.
“The early years are not just a stepping stone, they’re the most impressionable window we have to build confidence, empathy, and curiosity,” say Katie Cataford and Amber Halcovitch, Directors of Vincent Massey Academy. That conviction guides the entire VMA philosophy, which is grounded in four core pillars:
1. INTEGRATED ACADEMICS
A multidisciplinary approach that connects literacy, math, science, the arts, and physical education.
2. INQUIRY-BASED THINKING
Learning anchored in exploration, questioning, and intellectual autonomy.
3. COMMUNITY-FOCUSED CONNECTION
A values-based approach to empathy, collaboration, and civic responsibility.
4. INTENTIONAL ENVIRONMENTS
Thoughtfully designed classrooms that evolve alongside students’ developmental and academic needs.
This framework allows for a learning experience that is both cohesive and dynamic, adaptable to the child, yet uncompromising in its standards. “The responsibility of guiding children through their formative years is one we hold with great care,” says Katie. “These early experiences shape far more than just academic foundations—they influence a child’s sense of self, their feeling of belonging, and their natural curiosity.”
Teachers at VMA are facilitators of discovery. Through careful observation and planning, they design experiences that challenge students to think independently, engage deeply, and reflect meaningfully. Lessons are not confined by subject silos or
standardized outcomes. Instead, students might find themselves investigating climate change solutions, learning about life cycles by raising chickens, or studying Indigenous ecosystems—all through integrated, hands-on inquiry.
The school’s commitment to enrichment is equally comprehensive. Music, visual arts, and drama are part of daily life. Students participate in two major performances each year, learn ukulele by Grade 1, and engage with professional creators through VMA’s Artist-in-Residence program. Athletics are wide-ranging: curling, gymnastics, swimming, skating, soccer, tennis, and CrossFit are offered alongside team sports and daily movement blocks,
designed to develop physical confidence and resilience.
STEAM learning—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics is rooted in real-world application. Each week, students engage in open-ended challenges, from designing sustainable cities to constructing functional bridges, developing both critical thinking and technical fluency. Nature-based learning is equally central. Monthly excursions to High Park and Humber Bay deepen environmental literacy and invite students into meaningful conversations around stewardship, sustainability, and Indigenous knowledge.
These early experiences shape far more than just academic foundations—they influence a child’s sense of self, their feeling of belonging, and their natural curiosity.
“
Emotional development is embedded into the school’s structure. With class sizes capped at 13 to 15 and cohorts kept consistent for the school year, teachers can offer individualized support while nurturing strong peer relationships. This consistency allows students to develop emotional fluency, self-awareness, and confidence—cornerstones for academic risk-taking and social learning.
Transitions between age groups are handled with great care. Teachers track each child’s trajectory closely, adjusting the curriculum to reflect their evolving needs. Routines are predictable, environments are calming, and expectations are developmentally aligned, helping students move through stages of growth with ease and stability.
VMA’s faculty is composed of deeply committed educators, many with advanced certifications in music, French, physical education, and early childhood development. Professional learning is ongoing: educators engage in monthly pedagogical reflection, attend expert-led workshops, and contribute to a collaborative culture that values both innovation and integrity.
Parents are not peripheral to the experience—they are intentionally included. “We believe that families are essential partners in a child’s learning journey, and we are deeply committed to ensuring that every VMA family feels welcomed, informed, and involved,” says Katie. Weekly updates, open classroom invitations, and involvement opportunities ensure families stay closely connected to their child’s journey. Feedback loops are honest, consistent, and grounded in trust. It is a model of partnership, not performance.
Admissions are equally thoughtful. Day School applications (JK to Grade 6) are accepted each fall, with decisions released in January. Early Years programs (Toddler to Pre-Kindergarten) operate on a rolling basis from November through April. Every prospective family begins with a personal tour— an opportunity to see the program in motion, speak with educators, and determine alignment.
To explore the school further or to book a private campus tour, visit vincentmassey.com.
Toddler & Pre-Kindergarten: $2,215/month
(includes full-day care, hot lunch, and snacks)
JK–Grade 6: $18,000/year
(includes specialist-led instruction, outdoor education, enrichment, and all supplies)
Additional services include before/after care, a hot lunch program, and summer camp offerings for children ages 4 to 12.
Graduates of VMA demonstrate intellectual clarity, emotional resilience, and the confidence to think independently. They carry forward discernment, adaptability, and a strong sense of responsibility—prepared to engage with complexity and lead with purpose.
