A Home Away From Home
Dear Trojan Catholic Family,
I was overjoyed when I received the call to serve at Our Savior Parish & USC Caruso Catholic Center. Immediately, treasured memories of the powerful impact the Catholic Center had on my life while I was a student there flooded my mind and warmed my heart. Deep friendships, fun excursions, intense prayer… returning to USC brings me full circle and I am grateful.
However, my days at USC were over a decade ago and since then so much has happened to transform life and ministry in our little portion of God’s great vineyard.
Since my arrival on July 1st, it’s been a blessed whirlwind. Welcome events, Masses, Bible studies, service to the poor, confessions, indepth faith formation, and Holy Hours; these are but a sampling of the awesome outreach efforts happening at the CCC. Our team loves meeting new people and we seek to give loving attention to all regardless of their background or personal history. There’s something for everyone as so many dedicated people generously offer their time, talent, and treasure for our community.
All of this is reflected in this report and I hope you find it informative and inspiring. As stewards of bountiful resources, we seek to be transparent and hold ourselves accountable to God and neighbor. Our finances are audited annually and our programming is weighed against campus ministries throughout the country.
Once again, thank you for your continued support of the essential work we do to nourish our parishioners holistically: body, mind, and spirit. We simply couldn’t do what we do without your help! We’re blessed to have each other and on behalf of our Board and Staff, I’d like to express my sincerest thanks to all our benefactors. Like Jesus in the Gospels, let’s continue to walk humbly with one another and look forward to the great things God has in store for us in the years ahead.

"As an international student with my family on the other side of the world, the Catholic Center has truly become my home away from home."
Growing up without a religious background, I was always curious about faith, especially the beauty of Catholic churches. The intricate architecture, the vivid stained glass, even the vestments worn by priests during Mass all fascinated me, though I didn’t fully understand their significance.
As an international student with my family on the other side of the world, this Catholic Church has truly become my “home away from home.” It’s a place where my curiosity has deepened into a profound appreciation, and where I’ve found a community that nurtures both my spirit and my art.

"The USC Caruso Catholic Center is my home away from home because it enables me to give my all to the Lord and pursue the shared goal of Sainthood within a likeminded community."
Once I stepped onto USC’s campus, I knew I wanted to make my home here. However, I didn’t know where I wanted to put my heart until I found the USC Caruso Catholic Center. Going to Catholic School my whole life, I wanted to find that familiarity at USC. Essentially, I wanted to be comfortable away from home. If I wasn’t in class or sleeping in my dorm, one would probably find me at the Catholic Center.
The Catholic Center introduced me to a wonderful community that has deepened my friendships and strengthened my faith. It’s a place where I can fully devote myself to the Lord, offering everything I have. The Catholic Center is more than just a spot on campus to spend time with friends; it’s my home away from home because it provides countless opportunities to worship and give my all to God. Here, I’m part of a community where everyone shares the same goal of striving for sainthood.
