National Stress Awareness Day 2nd November This Wednesday marks National Stress Awareness Day – a day that was set up with the mission to raise awareness of the effects and stigma of stress. National Stress Awareness Day falls on the first Wednesday of November every year, this is as Wednesday’s are deemed to be the most stressful day of the week. Millions of people in the UK will experience a form of stress throughout the year which is damaging to our mental health and wellbeing. At some point in the last year 74% of us have felt so stressed that we have felt unable to cope.

What is stress and how is it caused?

Stress is the feeling of being under to much emotional or mental pressure, when this happens the body will release stress hormone’s such as adrenaline and cortisol. The body’s response to stress is sometimes called the “the fight” or “flight” response. A small amount of stress can be useful, it can motivate you to take action and make you feel alive but to much stress can cause negative effects such as a change in mood, body and relationship stress.
